Overall, it’s a great place for kids, but there are a couple of improvements that would make it even better. It would be really helpful to have more benches or seating for parents near the floaties area, as it can be difficult to find a place to sit while watching the children. Adding a few shoe racks would also be a great idea, as kids tend to leave their shoes scattered everywhere, making the area look cluttered and creating a bit of a trip hazard. Restaurant way overpriced to bring your own drinks.

Thanks for the lovely feedback, and glad the kids had a great time! We're in our 5th season and are adding more benches and seating as we grow. Great idea on the shoe racks too, we'll look into that. On the cafe, we've priced it to be reasonable for a day out. Hope to see you again soon!

It is great lake for training Around the lake is 1km long, so it is easy to calculate the distance. Very helpful and friendly staff members. Thank you

A refreshing dip on a hot day, but the facilities need a little cleaning.
Reply from West Country Water Park 2026.07.13
Thanks Kate. We clean the facilities every hour, sadly despite this when there are a few hundred people in and out the loos it gets challenging to stay on top of it perfectly.

Glad you enjoyed your day.

Went this Saturday and was busy, quite a lot of activities happening. We decided on sauna and dip, and had brunch in the cafe before. I liked my breakfast muffin and coffee. Signing in was a bit chaotic, definitely needed 2 people rather than 1. Facilities are ok but only 2 indoor showers and shared toilets so quite the queue. Sauna itself is nice although you aren’t allowed to amend the temperature which is a bit annoying as gets cooler when people come in and wasnt the hottest one I’ve been in. However, it was beautiful and spacious and the dipping area was big enough and not too cold. All in all enjoyed but just a few pointers for the future. I would come back again.

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a balanced review, and we're really pleased you enjoyed your sauna and dip, the brunch, and that you'd come back again.

Your pointers are genuinely useful. Saturday was one of our busiest days so far.

We have outdoor showers and we're also aware that more people want indoor showers and we will improve those facilities is part of our expansion plans.
As for the sauna, ours runs at a toasty 80°C, so if you've been in hotter we can only assume it was on the surface of the sun! Joking aside, the temperature is set rather than adjustable for safety and to suit the widest range of guests, and you're right that it dips a little as the door opens during busy sessions.

See you again soon.

Pretty lame Me and a buddy turned up with our own kit (no hard boards allowed) my boards a hard board This is the first time I’ve heard of this on a lake Eventually found the tiny section on their website which is hidden mentioning this Brilliant … they’ll lend me an inflatable board. 👌. Cheap nasty board with a small fin you can’t keep in a straight line .. thanks. The staff watched me get all my stuff out then as I’m getting on the water drop these nuggets of information on me… Really lame service and no ones wearing leashes it’s chaos Definitely not going back again If your looking to splash around with the kids it’s cool but definitely not for paddle boarders with any experience
Reply from West Country Water Park 2026.07.12
Hey Samuel

Let's not let facts get in the way of your opinion.

We have made our own custom boards specifically for OUR lake that is 200m x 200m x 1.6m. We will never sell these and as such they are not designed for any other use case than our lake.

Your review implies our service was terrible. We never hid the fact that we do not allow solid boards. We enforce that policy out of safety concerns. This is fantastic service. We offered you a free hire board, that's FANTASTIC service especially as you started behaving in a threatening manner towards my team. From next week we have built a dedicated paddleboard zone with free electric pumps. Another fantastic service.
We allow multiple people to share a paddleboard and as such do not enforce leashes, especially when it is not windy and EVERYONE wears buoyancy aids and are observed by lifeguards. This is the safest paddleboard environment you could be in.

We know we cannot please everyone, on this occasion we agree with your choice not to return. There are so many amazing places out there for you, with no lifeguards, and no restrictions.

We will continue to provide a Safe, Convenient, Accessible and FUN environment.

Don’t go unless you want to be fined! At no point were we asked to provide our registration numbers when checking in, which should be mandatory by staff! They claim on their website there are signs but we didn’t see any. We stayed there for lunch after paddling, wanting to support the business, only to be handed out a large parking fine! There shouldn’t even be parking fines for a gated area! Diabolical behaviour. Have warned everyone I know not to go here!
Reply from West Country Water Park 2026.07.12
I cannot stress enough. Parking is free for 4 HOURS without registering and then free for the rest of the day by simply entering in your number plate AT RECEPTION or use any of the QR codes printed on signage around the site.

If you purchased a ticket it clearly states and I quote: "PARKING INFO: Your parking is free but you must validate your car at reception. "

To everyone reading this... I challenge you to say there are no signs, at the front gate, all over the car park, at the reception ramp, on the reception desk, in the email confirmation etc etc etc. Or just come and enjoy a day at our lovely water park.

See you soon

The lake is nice but I find the whole set up is about making as much money from you as possible. It's very frustrating that you can't talk to anyone on the phone, even when there is a problem with your booking you have to go through a massive email chain with them trying to resolve it, usually unsuccessfully, as each email gets answered by a different person who doesn't look at the email history. I've had a number of these experiences with them and realise now it's better to save my frustration and not book again
Reply from West Country Water Park 2026.07.10
Hi Emma

Thanks for the review. 2 stars is where I would put our conversation to so we are aligned. That's good.
I completely understand your frustration with how long this has taken to resolve, and I am truly sorry for the inconvenience and stress this has caused you over the last two days. While all of our online systems are working correctly on our end, I recognise that you have experienced persistent technical issues across multiple devices.

To clarify our policy, we are an online-only service and do not operate a customer support phone line. I appreciate this is not the resolution method you prefer, but we must remain firm on this policy to ensure consistency for all guests.

As your early bird rate is strictly non-transferable, moving the tickets means you will need to pay the price difference of £12 per ticket. However, as a gesture of goodwill for the difficulties you have faced, I will waive the standard £5 amendment fee.

To everyone reading this. We are a small family run business. We do our utmost to respond quickly to all our support emails. 98% of all support emails could be answered by using a google search for West Country Water Park and our website is AI bot optiomised too. We are better everyday.

Can’t fault the activity itself but there is a significant gap in training for the front desk staff providing mixed communication which sadly the owner wouldn’t either acknowledge or resolve as a goodwill gesture. I booked 3 wetsuits upfront then not needed and was advised on check in that by leaving them “unticked” on the system I was eligible to request a refund via email after. When I came to then do this I was told that T’s and C’s state otherwise - resulting in me paying for something I didn’t then get - had I not been misinformed I would have taken them and shared with wider visitors. Zero flexibility or acknowledgement this was mixed communication and clearly just money making with zero customer service pride.
Reply from West Country Water Park 2026.07.09
Hey Caron

Sadly we cannot please everyone. Your confirmation email clearly states we do not offer refunds. Threatening my reception team into saying absolutely anything to get you to go away is not something I would brag about on a 1-star review.

For those of you treading this review, to clarify what has happened. We do not mandate the use of wetsuits, they are optional. You do not need to pre-book wetsuits either. They are more expensive at reception. These are all facts clearly sated on our website and communicated by our team.

If you book any of our services, we do not offer refunds unless we are obliged to by UK Law (not FaceBook lawyers) or we have to cancel a session due to our weather rules and a few other rare occurrences.

Jenny and I accept that we are not faultless. We want everyone to enjoy themselves and feel the love and care that has gone into building this park. Honestly, if you don't like our terms and conditions, we know we cannot please everyone, please pick another venue.

See you soon

We visited for the Go-Karting and ended up pulling our son off the track early. The organiser was friendly enough, but the marshals are very inexperienced and lack any interest of safety on track. There were drivers on track that were driving dangerously, purposely ramming other karts and not respecting the flags. It was more like a scene of bumper cars at the fairground. One lad never slowed down on any yellow flag and at one point drove around a kart that was being handled by a marshal on track. These drivers not once got black flagged and spoken to. For safety reasons we stopped the race and took our son off the track as it was a big accident waiting to happen. The quality of the track is very bad. It is extremely bumpy, to the point it caused red marks on our son’s back. It is a shame as it could be a great venue, but there is A LOT of work that needs to be done. Improvements on the track and more staff training on safety and the use of flags. I’m afraid we won’t be returning.

Thank you for your feedback.

We take every safety concern seriously, which is why I called you as soon as you raised your complaint by email, and then personally spoke with the other participants, their spectators, and each member of the team on duty to establish whether we had an underlying problem.
None of them shared your account of events. Your son was keen to return to the session; leaving early was your choice.

As our manager explained on the day, our safety systems were all tested and working, and reprimands were issued to drivers not meeting our driving standards during the session.

You are of course entitled to your opinion. To anyone reading this review, I'd encourage you to visit and speak with Jason and the team in person. You'll find them friendly, polite, and exceptionally safety conscious. Our track is new (and expanding soon), we train our team regularly, and we meet frequently with experienced track operators such as the team at Haynes Karting to ensure we operate to the highest standards.

It's always disappointing to receive a poor review, and I would hold my hands up if we had got this wrong. Having investigated thoroughly, I'm confident we operated well within our safety guidelines.

I do happily put my own three children in my team's hands and they can't shut up about it, neither can their friends :-)

Pleasant first time experience with my daughter. Experience My daughter and I took a dip near the shallow part of the lake, ensuring our safety by zipping up the lifejackets provided to us. Water temperature is not bad at 22° as is the sunny weather. Service Appreciation goes to the man at the reception for his hospitality and highly customer-centric service, making us feel welcome and comfortable, whilst the other person in the reception was too busy to attend to us. I forgot to ask his name (so sorry about this as I am really keen to give recognition for his exceptional service), but he's about 18-20 something, blonde wavy hair, about 5'9-5'11" tall, and medium built. He helped us get booked in, checked our QR code, and when we came back to get a snack, he guided us about the available hot food, and also served us with our order of two boxes of pepperoni pizza. What a bro! Accessibility We could have gone to another water park, but dreaded the drive and traffic. Choosing West Country WP is best as it is closer to Bristol. Overall - it did not disappoint! My daughter clearly enjoyed thoroughly her experience in this place.

I had a very disappointing experience at West Country Water Park. We were looking forward to going in the water, but a member of staff told me that if I went too far out, I could drown. After hearing that, I didn’t feel safe at all, even while wearing a life jacket. The water also looked dirty, which made me even less comfortable about going in. I was told I would receive a refund, but it’s now been a few days and I still haven’t received it. I’m very disappointed with how this has been handled and hope the refund is processed as soon as possible.
