Having recently moved to Durham, decided to give Walkers Opticians a try when we were due for the tests. We are both very glad that we did. The eye tests were carried out very carefully and I received the best help in choosing frames that I have ever experienced in nearly 40 years of wearing glasses, without any 'pushing ' to buy more expensive ones than I needed. I will definitely be going back and have no hesitation in recommending Walkers to others.

Walkers Opticians are outstanding. I have never had such a thorough eye examination ( which uncovered a small tear which was difficult to see) among other tests. Absolute sense that the prescription was correct . Very careful and professional approach. Delighted with the quality of the spectacles on offer. No rushing decisions. Very helpful and pleasant staff. Excellent communication. I don’t think you could find better staff and better service anywhere, combined with meticulous clinical professionalism.

I went to Walkers for years, but when Karen left, I decided to try an optician nearer to home. Big mistake - I realised they weren’t a patch on what I’d been used to , so I went back to Walkers and I’m delighted. The customer service is second to none, from the reception staff and Optical Advisors to the opticians - they really know how to make someone feel like a valued customer. I was greeted warmly, as always, and Kay expertly fixed the broken leg of my glasses while I waited. Julie tested my eyes, including a field vision test, and she was thorough, professional and friendly. I came out with a smile on my face and remembered why I had stuck with Walkers for years. I certainly won’t make the mistake of going elsewhere again!

Always personalised and friendly service from this independent local opticians. I’ve always been able to get an appointment when I needed one, they’ve listened to my needs and supplied specialist glasses for my close-up hobby model making and computer work as well as my “normal” prescription glasses, and my regular eye tests are not rushed and thorough. Highly recommended.

The customer care was amazing. I felt like I was talking to friends and not strangers. The professionalism was equally as good as I received a fantastic eye test and received all the necessary information and care from walking in, picking out my frames , to picking them up once they were ready. Great place !

I highly recommend this opticians The staff were all professional skilled friendly and not at all pushy There is a fantastic choice of not commonly brands and was so pleased I was able to purchase the Silhouette brand which although expensive are worth the money as they are so light it's easy to forget you're wearing them
