A Funny Thing Happened.... A very unusual thing happened on the evening of Easter Monday - I had an issue with one of the 6 Vaillant boilers I have installed in various properties. In all the many years I have owned Vaillants (and I wont have any other brand) this is the first time this has happened. When I described the problem over the phone to my usual installer, his immediate reaction was that it was very likely a warranty issue and I should call Vaillant. This I did on Tuesday morning rather expecting a long wait for the call to be answered as it was the first day back at work after a Bank Holiday. However, my call was answered inside 5 minutes and while on hold I was regularly told where I was in the queue. A lady took all the relevant details and told me an engineer would call that same day before 6pm. And he duly did. A very pleasant, and obviously hugely knowledgeable chap (thank you Simon), he agreed with my installer's assessment and set about about fixing the problem, changing a couple of components in the process to make sure the issue would not re-occur. As a result, the two 80 year-old tenants got their heating and hot water back with the absolute minimum of delay. So thank you Vaillant for the great service and for further confirmation of my faith in Vaillant as a brand.

Try a reboot of your boiler first. I haven't used this repair service (and I'm sure they're very good), but I came across their description of the fault code F.27, and the high likelihood of there being a fault with the circuit board. Well, I had a power cut today, and when the power came back on this is the fault I had. Perhaps a "surge" when the power came back on, had fried it? Luckily I had the presence of mind to Google "Vaillant Ecotek 837 reboot", simply hold the no-flame button (top left in image) down for 2s, and the boiler does indeed reboot. And lo, the problem had gone! By the way, I am a lowly consumer, not an engineer.

Boiler repair and service We’ve been having issues with our vaillant boiler for a number of months, with several failed attempts to fix the underlying issue. I called Richard and was immediately impressed with his friendly, positive and professional attitude. I explained the issue and Richard reassured me that he understood the issue and was confident in resolving it. He kindly managed to fit us in the following day. Without any fuss, Richard resolved the issue and performed a full service too. I would highly recommend Richard and will certainly be using him again for our annual service.
