The race through the canyon is beautiful. It was our first time doing a half marathon, and we were so excited to receive the medal at the end... only to find out they ran out. We finished in under 3 hours, so it wasn't like we were the last. Such a bummer!!!! I'm really thankful to all the volunteers and companies there to hand out free stuff. Overall, it was a good time just pretty upset to end up with a super cheap Lei instead of the medal we were planning on.

Jodi you will for sure receive a medal. The shipping company (ABF Freight) lost one of the pallets of our medals. We learned that a week and a half ago and it takes about a month to make medals. These medals are sitting somewhere in California. We called every single day, and the lei was just something we bought at the last second to try to at least have something there for you. We will of course be sending you the medal the moment it arrives. We are super upset that it was not hear on time. We ordered these medals clear back in January.

Ran this in 2021 as my very first full marathon. Very well run event and loved that the expo, shuttle and finish line were all in downtown Provo where I could walk to and from my hotel. The shuttles were on time (but very early) to take us to the start line and they even provided mylar blankets to keep us warm during the waiting period before the race started. I liked that the half and full started at the same time because they were on the same course, with the full simply being 13 miles further up the hill. Very smart being able to use the half marathon's start area as a giant aid station for the full. Don't be fooled by the mountains though! This course is tough and not downhill at all! Not sure I will run this one again but I would recommend it. Keep in mind that it does get hot during the race! Soon after the sun comes out in fact! It is in the summer after all!

Great race! Runs smoothly every year. The course is fantastic and I love the amount of aid stations along the course which really helped me finish my race. I will do this again next years.

This was my first marathon ever in 2018! I loved the fast downhill course and the support was excellent. Lots of good food and hydration at the aid stations and plenty of food at the finish line. I'd definitely run it again another year.

Kollin thanks for the 5 stars! Glad to have you at our race for your first marathon.

I've run several marathons, and this is definitely one of the best I've done. I've now done both the half and the full at Utah Valley. The course is a big 10/10. It's fast and net downhill, but also a challenging course with some good rolling hills. Views of Provo Canyon are incredible, and it's nice to have no turns really, especially the last few miles. It's always well organized and volunteers have been super friendly and helpful. Definitely would run again.

This is a great Boston qualifier! I love the scenery - Deer Creek, Provo River, the canyon itself, being a downhill course. This is a Utah favorite.

Thank you for your kind review. It is tough to beat the beauty of that canyon.

I’ve been a part of this race for multiple years as a runner and volunteer. It’s always great weather on race day and the course is so majestic! Everyone should run it or volunteer. It’s so much fun!

Great race! I have run this race over ten times (full and half) and have had a great experience each time. The course is fast and well supported and the organization for the whole event is first class. Even the finisher medals are bigger and better than any other race I've ever done. I will definitely be back next year and the next.

They cancel the marathon, which is fine, but then refuse to give you a refund. What a joke. Edit: In response to the organizer's reply below, I understand your waiver policy, and that's fine; I agreed to it. But it's just a very selfish thing to do on your part. I understand you're losing lot of money, but what about your customers who have lost their jobs and need their money back more than ever right now? Yes, the waiver let's you keep our money, but that doesn't make it the right decision. Anyway, you've lost me as a future runner for all of your future events. Mostly because I can tell you care more about yourselves than you do your customers. That just doesn't sit right with me.

RJ we disclosed the no refund policy on our website since our inception and this is industry standard for most races. It was also in the waiver that you signed at registration. We offered all runners a virtual option, or a deferral to 2021 or 2022. With the deferral option you can have exactly what you paid for (just at a later date). We did not choose to cancel. The government forced us to cancel. We fought hard to give you guys a race this year, and we wish we could. Restaurants are opening up in Utah now and we believe that they are no safer than a race with small waive starts, outside with UV rays and heat that can fight the virus. We were going to do very small waives that would have allowed for social distancing, but the government shut us down. We too can't get refunds for medals, shirts and many other things that were already paid for on this year's race. This whole COVID 19 situation is not easy for anyone. We thank you for registering for our event, and hope you will join us next year for FREE as we removed the deferral fee if the virtual option is not your preference.

Beautiful scenery!! It was a lot harder to be motivated once I got town and it wasn't as pretty

Thanks for the 5 stars! Luckily there are only 5 miles out of the 26 (or 13) that are outside the canyon.

This half marathon has the best course of all the half marathons around. Enough downhill to make up for the altitude, but just enough to make it fair, you will not run some impossible unbelievable time that you cannot match on an ideal no-elevation drop course. Certified course. Good competition. You get to see the Provo Canyon in the first 7 miles of the race. Finish in downtown Provo right next to the new Provo City Center Temple. The roads are closed to traffic. The race overall is very well organized. I would highly recommend it.

2019 will be my sixth UV marathon. This race is by far my favorite, from the start to the finish, it is well organized, supported, and so so beautiful. The weather has always been perfect at the time of year. The course terrain is also great, with mostly gradual downhill and a few easy climbs. Oh, and NOTHING beats a good creamie awaiting at the finish.

I have run 132 marathons out of those I have run the Utah Valley Marathon 6 times (I have also run the half marathon twice). There are so many races out there to choose from (some even on the same day), but I will ALWAYS return and run the UVM. Not only is the course beautiful and fast (I have BQ'd on this course), the organization is amazing, the swag is great and you can tell that the organizers are runners that care about what runners want in an event (besides just a fast time). It's a must do! I love this race!

Angie thanks for your kind words! You certainly have a lot of experience, so we appreciate reviews from runners that have run as many races as you have. We have also appreciated you running with us all these years.

Beautiful race, but the aid stations and volunteer count are definitely sub-par.

Taylor-
I am sad to hear that you did not have a good service experience. We love our volunteers, and of course would always love to have more of them. We will explore new ideas on how to gain more race staff support. We actually have over 1000 volunteers, but to your point we can always use more. Thanks for the feedback.
