I categorically advise against it.
Pros:I did not experience any positive aspects. Cons:Everything, described in more detail below. Advice to Management:I categorically advise against it. The first order is done, and the principal sends a change request writing that he will give an answer later, once he has checked the work, thus extending his time for payment by 2 weeks. It's been 3 weeks now, and I still haven't received the payment, because the time has been extended several times in this way. Support sees no problem with this, and prompts me to keep waiting another 14 days despite the principal's obvious abusiveness of their payout system.

Great staff, but zero strategic plan from LT
Pros:The staff are great, their recruiting team is excellent. Some of the best and the brightest work there. Cons:LT doesn't seem to have a future plan for the company, constantly doing layoffs to compensate for a successful revenue generating vision.
Toxic, incompetent leaders
Pros:Umm, I guess it's remote? Side note, there's no way in hell this company really has 3.9 stars. Guessing there are quite a few HR-padded reviews in here. Cons:• Employee satisfaction is 42%, a massive nosedive of 20 points in the last year alone • Leadership team pivots every few months on strategy and process for constant chaos • Insane levels of approval and micromanagement • Frequent HR violations, but reporting them results in retaliation • Pay is ~$100K below market value, with no opportunity for promotions or even annual raises • Constant interviews/training of new hires who will just leave in a matter of months Advice to Management:Put on your big-kid pants and act like adults, for chrissakes. You're exhausting.

Unprofessional and Unfair Treatment of Users
I had an incredibly disappointing experience with Upwork that has completely eroded my trust in the platform. My account was permanently suspended due to issues that were entirely unrelated to my own activities. Upwork chose to hold me accountable for matters involving another client, which was completely unfair and unprofessional. Not only was I penalized for something I had no control over, but I was also asked to handle payments that were not my responsibility. This behavior is unacceptable and reflects a lack of basic business etiquette. Despite my attempts to resolve the matter, Upwork failed to address the situation fairly or transparently. This experience has made it clear to me that Upwork does not value its users or operate with integrity. If you're considering using Upwork, be cautious, as their handling of disputes and account issues is anything but professional. Pros: nothing in my short time Cons: Unjust Account Suspension, Lack of Accountability, Poor Communication, Unprofessional Behavior, Erosion of Trust

Org Review
Pros:Pays well when you are doing well, company culture is good when the company is doing well. If you are an IC you will definitely get some solid development, if you are a leader you will just have to figure it out Cons:Upworks biggest problem is that its product is not sophisticated enough to really compete with large talent providers, its leaders are too busy fighting over whether its a staffing company or a tech platform - 2 CEOs, 4 CFOs, 4 CMOs, 3 GMs of Enterprise, No CRO, Multiple Engineering and Product leaders since going public - no leadership development or advance training Advice to Management:Buy an EOR provider, remove sub fees and integrate your platform with other technologies better
Toxic environment and no job security
Pros:Good weekly pay! That's it! Cons:Toxic work environment Bootlicking culture at its worst Top level management has no sense of where they want to take the company Product decisions are based less on actual customer and ground reality and more on the whims and last nights dreams of C level execs Career growth depends on your current level and team as well as the mood of your Engineering Manager or Director Can get laid off any minute without any warning! Beware of any upcoming earnings release schedule. As history has proven over the last couple of years, before every earnings call irrespective of whether the company is in profit or loss layoffs can happen to offset for any loss of public image to C Level execs and board. Mostly single digit increments maybe once a year of you are lucky. Advice to Management:Get your act together and start thinking of the company, its products, its customers and its employees well being as a whole!
