Wonderful getaway for my family of 6 with Trijaya around Lake Toba for 7 days in December 2024!
Forwarded my requirements ( site-seeing, activities, routes, accommodation and transportation) for the holiday and Diana from Trijaya helped assembled the logistics for us. Diana was swift in her replies and updates the itinerary alongside.
This was assuring for us to commit to their services. We were also assigned a responsible/caring driver who took us from flight arrival to departure, assisted in hotel check-in and necessary correspondences. Kudos to him for helping to arrange a back-pack ( we left off without) to be brought midway on our drive to the airport. We will travel with them again!

My custom 5 days tour with Tri Jaya in north Sumatra was absolutely splendid. The tour took me from Medan to Bukit Lawang to Samosir Island on Lake Toba and back to Medan. They arranged the guided jungle trek to see the orangutans. Lodging at all places were beautiful and as a solo female traveler, I never felt unsafe with Mr Dedi, the driver/ guide. He was respectful and polite at all times. Mr Dedi also offered to show me an orchid farm owing to my house plants fascination.
The Tri Jaya team was responsive, flexible and helpful. They provided worthwhile recommendations and were attentive to detail. The Deli River hotel gave a cosy and homey feel at the end of the tour.
I missed the Berastagi volcano experience, hopefully another time. All in all, Tri Jaya Tour and Travel provided a great experience and I highly recommend the small family run business.

The tour was not as described
The tour did not match the description. It was written that I could view the Sibayak volcano from Gundaling Hill for 30 minutes but we did not stop there. It was mentioned that we would stop for 30 minutes at Brastagi Highland, surrounded by two active volcanoes, but we did not stop there and did not see the volcanoes. We stopped at the Sipiso Piso Waterfall and Lake Toba was visible too. We visited Lingga Cultural Village, which according to the map is not Dokan Batak Village but quite similar. We stopped to see a fruit market, Taman Alam Lumbini Temple and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church which were not mentioned in the description. The tour was interesting and gave a good insight into local culture but I cannot give five stars because I paid for a different tour. Another thing – the driver made me feel uncomfortable, so I am supposed to remove another star. He asked for a tip aggressively. At first, he was pretending that he was joking but after that he asked insistently and persistently. I have spent nine weeks in total in Indonesia, visiting five different islands, and this was the first time when something like this happened.
We had a fantastic time in Sumatra and the Tri Jaya team were super helpful. They looked after us for a 7 day tour including Bukit Lawang and Lake Toba, the driver who was looking after us Erwan was brilliant.
Then we went up to Banda Aceh and Pulau Weh and they arranged this with a local chap Mr Bob who was amazing.
All through the booking they were very prompt and helpful and once were were there everting went very smoothly.
I recommend them and their people wholeheartedly.
Tri Jaya are very good
We have just had 12 days in Sumarta and I can wholeheartedly recommend Tri Jaya Tours , Super helpful, very good at communication, and their people were fantastic. We did a 7 day tour the driver Erwan was brilliant, the guides they used in Bukit Lawang and Mt Sibayak where also fantastic. We used Tri Jaya to arrange a few days in Banda Aceh as well and their local chap Mr Bob was again very helpful.

Dear Nathalie and Leo,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We’re pleased to hear that you were satisfied with your overall experience, especially with our guide, Elfin, and the quality of the hotels, particularly the Bukit Lawang EcoLodge.
Regarding your concerns about the elephant sanctuary, we deeply appreciate your honest feedback. The elephants in Tangkahan have been rescued from Human-Elephant conflict zones, a tragic consequence of the expanding palm oil industry in Sumatra. The local community in Tangkahan has accepted these elephants, providing them with a safe habitat where they can live, swim, and patrol the jungle. The elephant encounter is meant to be a respectful and educational experience, where guests can observe the elephants’ daily bath from a safe distance. The fees collected contribute directly to the upkeep and feeding of these majestic animals, ensuring their survival in a challenging environment.
We understand and share your concerns about animal welfare, which is why we do not support elephant riding. The elephants in Tangkahan are under the care of the Tangkahan Community Tourism Organization and the Conservation Response Unit, both of which are dedicated to the conservation of the Critically Endangered Sumatran Elephant. We aim to support these efforts and provide our guests with an opportunity to contribute to the preservation of this species.
We also appreciate your feedback on the orangutan excursion. While it’s an incredible experience, we acknowledge that the presence of other tourists and the feeding of the orangutans can affect the natural setting. We will continue to work with our partners to ensure that these experiences align with ethical and conservation-focused values.
Thank you again for your valuable feedback. We will take your comments into account as we strive to improve the experiences we offer to our future clients. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to Sumatra one day.
Warm regards,
Diana Pardamean

An almost perfect stay, but watch out for the Things to do on offer
We were generally satisfied with the service offered by this travel agency. Our Guide, Alfin, was absolutely wonderful throughout the trip: kind, helpful, funny, and always attentive to our needs. The journeys, although sometimes long, took place in good conditions, making travel rather easy. The hotels chosen were overall very good, with a special mention for the Bukit Lawang EcoLodge, which was particularly nice. We generally enjoyed the organized trip, however, we would like to express our deep dissatisfaction with one of the Things to do: visit the so-called elephant sanctuary. Although this is presented on the agency's website and by staff as an ethical activity, the reality is quite different. The elephants are parked in a small enclosure, forced to obey orders to lie in the river, ridden by the trainers and used as mere entertainment for tourists. This is far from an animal-friendly practice, and it has been a deeply disappointing and upsetting experience for us. One thing is certain: if you love animals, don't participate in this activity. We encourage the Agency to review these Things to do and to ensure that they are truly in line with the ethical values that are put forward. The excursion to see the orangutans was amazing, although we were a little surprised by the number of tourists and the fact that guides feed the animals to attract them... amazing in a nature park ... That said, this activity remains a unique and unforgettable experience. In conclusion, we appreciated the overall organization of the trip, the quality of the hotels and especially the kindness of our Guide, but we hope that the agency will take these feedbacks into account to improve the experience of its future guests.
Fantastic day out with Erwan
We had the most incredible day, the itinerary is great but the stand out for us was our driver and guide Erwan. His knowledge was vast and he always had something to tell you on the long car journeys, inbetween all of the terrible jokes that had us laughing all day. He truly made it an amazing day filled with stories, history and fun. The tour itself is very good with lots to see and do although the drive is long there is lots to see on the way which Erwan took great pleasure in explaining. Book this tour and ask for Erwan!
The Tri Jaya team looked after us on our North Sumatra tour like only a family business can. Responsive and attentive to all the details, we did a loop through Bukit Lawang, Beristagi and Lake Toba, giving us jungle, mountains and sunsets on the lake. Our driver took a detour so we could book our onward bus ticket from Parapat to get us out to West Sumatra and he made the whole journey care free.
You can customise the itinerary, it was no problem when we asked for a jungle camp and an extra night.
A great introduction to a very special place - see you next time.

Road trip North Sumatra
My friend and I did a 7 day tour through North Sumatra with Trijaya and enjoyed it very much. We appreciated our driver Udin, who is a great and safe (!) driver, but also had a keen eye for our needs. Udin helped us to find specific locations (we were in interested in Dutch-Indonesian Colonial heritage), or just lovely viewpoints on the way to our next destination. The car we used for the trip was in excellent shape and the hotels of good quality. Note that transfers between your stops will take much more time than you'd expect based on sheer distance, so you'll spend a considerable amount of time in the car. Make sure to enjoy the hustle and bustle of the road side as well!
Competet planning and driving
We had tailored travel on Sumatra revisiting places where we were ten years ago. Tri Jaya where very receptive to our wishes and came up with very competent ideas. The driver where a very pleasant companion, careful driving, and a great knowledge about the places we visited. When Tri Jaya recommended local guides it where very good people too.
Wunderbare Rundreise, alles perfekt organisiert
