The teachers and faculty at TopHat were very warm and welcoming for our daughter. Our daughter came home happy each day. She enjoyed the interaction and engagement from teachers and other children.
The staff is extremely professional, patient, and kind with all the children! Lesson plans and great activities everyday! The chief administrator,Maadhaven, is so helpful and willing to get our little boys started quickly and made the transition from our last school to this Montessori an easy transition! Our 4 and 2 year old wake up every morning excited just to get to school! I recommend this Montessori to everyone!
This school has been the best thing that happen to our family. My wife and I have a 4 year old and a 2 year old son. We have taken our 4 year old to 3 different preschools throughout the years and have just been disappointed in one way or the other. As soon as we came to Top Hat we found what we have been looking for. The staff are amazing genuine people who are great at teaching, patient and kind. My son use to hate going to school and now he loves school. They are always doing something new here also they take videos and pictures all day. Every Friday the kids can bring in a toy and have their very own show and tell 😊. We are beyond happy and grateful for this Top Hat School !

My son had been going there for about a year, and then out of the blue they said they gave our days to another family without considering us and our schedule. We had been doing Tuesday and Friday, they called saying we had to do Monday and Friday ( 0 notice) which does not work for our schedule. This has left us without childcare, and long wait lists at other schools are preventing us from enrolling in other programs. I am beyond disappointed with the management at tophat the owner and manager have no idea how to communicate with their families, and come off as fairly passive aggressive for no reason. I did like our sons teacher however.

While we sympathize with your situation, we made an exception for you in that we accepted your son at our daycare on part time status, two days per week when our policy for part time enrollment is no less than three days per week and therefore we adjusted your tuition accordingly giving you a substantial discount. During the year your son was enrolled, you would often change his schedule bringing him to school on different days than agreed upon, which we kindly allowed you to do in order to accommodate your schedules. Our staff helped you when you were unable to provide much needed supplies for your son so that our teachers could properly care for him. Our administration and staff did their best to work with you to accommodate your needs and inconsistent schedules. Many times when we needed to call you we were not able to reach you, because you did not answer and your voicemail was full, therefore we were unable to leave a message; this was very concerning to our staff as to how we would be able to reach you in an emergency. Despite these circumstances, we enjoyed having your son at our school.

I wanted to share my awesome experience with Top Hat daycare as a mom of two lively girls, ages 1 and 3. We were on a short international trip from London for about two weeks, and Top Hat was incredibly accommodating to welcome us in. Let me start by saying, the classrooms are absolutely stunning – spacious, drenched in sunlight, and just beautiful.
But the real standout is the teachers. Believe me, I've hopped around to like 5 different daycares in less than two years due to all the moving and traveling, and Top Hat's teachers are hands down the friendliest bunch. Their kindness and genuine care for the kids shine through.
Considering the fantastic experience, the tuition is surprisingly reasonable compared to the other places I've tried. Both my girls have fallen in love with the school and its teachers. It's not easy to win over a 1 and 3-year-old, but Top Hat managed to do it. So, if you're on the lookout for a daycare that's got spacious, sunny vibes, amazing teachers, and won't break the bank, Top Hat is definitely one to consider!
I've been incredibly pleased with the foundation my child has received at Top Hat Childcare. Every staff member, from administration to daycare staff, treats my child with care and respect. Ms. Patty, the Director, is consistently professional and responsive. The email communications and newsletters help us stay organized and informed. The teachers provide regular updates and hold parent-teacher meetings. They consistently go the extra mile, and the facility is both spacious and clean. I highly recommend this school for anyone seeking a nurturing academic program for their preschooler.
I truly appreciate the teachers and staff at Top Hat. They are incredibly attentive to the children and their needs. My son is always happy, well-cared for and loves interacting with his teachers Ms. Hiru, Ms. Lizzy, Ms. Lily and Ms. Estella. They provide weekly water play which my son very much enjoys, pizza lunch on Fridays and school-provided daily snacks. I love the daily updates and pictures they provide on their app. They have been very flexible and provide very competitive rates.
I cannot express enough how thrilled my wife and I are with the outstanding care that TopHat Child Care has provided for our 5-year-old son. From the moment we enrolled him, it's been a journey of joy, learning, and growth, all thanks to the incredible team led by Ms. Celine, Ms. Katherine, and Ms. Alisha.
The teachers at TopHat are nothing short of amazing. Ms. Celine's warm and nurturing approach immediately put us at ease. Ms. Katherine's creativity knows no bounds. Ms. Alisha brings a vibrant energy that's contagious.

Ms. Celine in the Primary room and Ms. Daisy in the toddler room are wonderful people! The two of them have always made my daughter feel welcomed and included. If for nothing else, I would say it has been a joy to have my daughter around two people who truly enjoyed working with children. I have to add that Ms. Lizzy, who works in both the primary and toddler room, has also been great at making connections with all the children at Top Hat. My daughter truly loves being around her and always says that he loves Ms. Lizzy.
On the other had, the Admin has had a few turn overs in the 3 years we have been there, but the three teachers I had mentioned above has always been a lovely consistent in my daughter's education and that Is all you can truly ask for.

We had an unexpected change with our nanny of 4 years. It was May. Most preschools finish their academic calendar in June. I wanted a school that still emphasized academics over the summer. I found Top Hat Montessori school in Gaithersburg. This was my daughter’s first full time school experience. She fit right in and loves it. The whole staff is caring and nurturing. She is excelling in her development both academically and socially. The hours are super convenient for working parents. And they have an app that allows you to see your child’s daily progress, which is super helpful.
Fridays are her favorite since they have show and tell, pizza (provided by the school) and water play!
I am so glad we found this wonderful school.

Top Hat teachers and staff truly care for kids to their best ability. They are always attentive to parents' and children's needs. I really appreciate teachers at the school for their love and dedication for children. Top Hat opens from 7:30am to 6:30pm that meets most parents' work schedule. They provide AM and PM snacks daily and pizza lunch on Fridays for toddlers and older classes. Their education style is mostly based on Montessori learning (kids-driven learning by having independent projects). Compare to the service receives, the cost of care is very competitive to day cares around this area. Facility is clean. My child has been in Top Hat since 4 months and loves the school! We are very satisfied with its daycare service and education.
I've sent both my girls to Top Hat. My younger daughter is still there in the primary room. We LOVE the teachers. Ms. Celine in the primary room is absolutely amazing and Ms. Daisy in the Toddler room is the sweetest, kindest, most patient teacher. On both of their first days, my girls just took Miss Daisy's hand and off they went, never looking back. Sometimes the communication/organization from Top Hat leaves something to be desired, but they're working on that and it has gotten much better. They are very flexible with parent and child needs, and I love that they allow drop-ins. (My Kindergartener does drop-ins sometimes on days when she doesn't have school.) And the teachers are wonderful, always working with kids where they are and giving them what they need (very child-centered). Also great: water play day, pizza Fridays, provided snack, and flexible drop-off/pick-up.

This is a lovely, nurturing environment - teachers care deeply about their kids, and the management cares about its relationship with their parents. Flexible, affordable, and safe - would recommend to any local parent.
My daughter has started going to Top Hat Childcare before she started walking and she’s now almost 5. I have to be honest, when it comes to small children, it’s very delicate, you either feel strongly about what you want for them or you’re ok with giving it a try and see how things go. The later approach worked for us, just like many other things in life. There were times were I would bring up concerns and I may have felt like my concerns were not taken into consideration the way I’d like, however eventually everything always worked out. The teachers and school members always did take note of our concerns. The staff is very friendly and polite. Never experienced a rude or shady comment. They are always welcoming of any concern or comment you may have. It takes time for the kids to get familiar with other kids, other teachers, other people. Same goes for the parents, it takes time to see what you expect from the school since the school and kids need time to be accustomed to each others first. My daughter always speaks found of the teachers and directors. She loves staying at home but whenever she goes and we pick her up at noon, she’s always excited to tell us about her day and all the things they did. My son who came from abroad also joined before starting elementary school and they made him feel welcome and made the transition somehow smoother. As a parent who started when my child was a baby, it was delightful to me to see other babies that have grown up so much and still attend the school. The primary reason for sending our daughter to daycare is to be around other kids and other people. However, my daughter has learnt a lot since going to this place. She is a naturally smart child, however we did notice very early on how fast she was learning some stuff and how she had much knowledge about certain things that we did not teach her. We quickly came to the conclusion that it was the school as well. She learnt how to count and all her ABCD. She knew the name of most animals, shapes, etc at an very early age. The kids will always get out of school with papers in their hands about what they did at school. She is an avid hand washer/ hand sanitizer user thanks to her teachers. During Covid, she would always remind me to pack her face mask because the teachers always reminded them.
The place is very clean, which was absolutely important to me, and the number reason why I settled for this school.
The management is flexible and always try to their best to work with parents which we appreciate.
My review here is very honest and not influenced. I’m not saying that I have never had an issue. If you’re thinking about enrolling your child, just know this is a good school that provides a great environment, learning opportunities with very friendly adults in a very clean establishment. However it will still take time for all parties involved to adjust. If things are not going the way you wish, give it some time, but ALWAYS and ALWAYS keep addressing your concerns. They always do listen thankfully, but as a parent never seize to address your issue until you see the changes you want. In the case of this school, you most certainly will, at least we did.
We joined the school after the recommendation of someone I know. At some point they removed their child from the school. They complained about many things to me about the school personally. I was surprised to see their new baby at the same school now. This just proves me again how good the school is. Like I said in the beginning, you either feel strongly about what you want for your kids or you’re ok with giving it a try and see how things go. Also, we are a black family. I was delighted to see many children and staff of color at the school. I never had had the feeling of us being treated differently. That would have been a quick and the ultimate dealbreaker.
The reason for my long review is that, as a parent I know too well the worries that come with trusting your child, especially young ones who can’t talk or defend themselves to people that you don’t know. I hope this helps.

My son joined TopHat at 4 months old. As a first time parent, I was nervous about it, but we were able to meet the Infant room teacher, Ms. Hiru and we felt more at ease. Over the year of our son being in the Infant room, Ms. Hiru has been absolutely incredible. She is always communicative with parents, works with the infants on their mobile and mental development, and maybe most importantly to me - she truly loves my son and makes him feel safe and cared for (sometimes he doesn’t want to leave!). We just love her!! Our son also spends some afternoons with Ms. Estella and she is fantastic too!
We appreciate all the teachers and admin at TopHat - it’s so nice to see other teachers and students know who our son is and enjoy interacting with him. In the front office, Patty is always quick to respond to emails and calls. If we ever have an issue, she is quick to sort it out and take action. There is also a monthly PTA meeting so parents know what’s happening at TopHat and an app so we can see photos and track our sons eating/napping progress throughout the day. We appreciate the community TopHat has built!
