We were searching for a local company to give us a quote on an electric fireplace insert. Most companies will happily do this based on what the customer thinks they want, but Jon took the time to thoroughly educate us on our expectations of increased warmth for the room and other viable options for energy efficiency. He is the epitome of knowledge and integrity, and he takes the time to share information to help the consumer make an educated choice. Jon and his crew were wonderful; they do indeed treat your home as if it was their own, and Jon even did some extra work on our fireplace mantel that was far beyond the scope of the contract. We could not be more satisfied with the outcome, and we will be using Thompson's for any future improvements we make. Lastly, Heather is an awesome customer service specialist who keeps everything running smoothly! It was a pleasure to find a reputable company with professional, personable people.

I strongly recommend this company. They install gas fireplace in my house. They finished the job timely. it was not over priced comparing with quotes that I got from other companies. Great job!

I am very happy to write this long overdue review for Thompson’s Heating and Air. Jon and his team did a textbook job of how to professionally handle the sales, installation and post-install of a major house system. The work they did comprised: (1) replacing my 16yo AC and gas furnace with a Trane heat pump, (2) reconfiguring the existing ducting from 3- to 4-zones on a 2800sf house; (3) improving air distribution and balancing across the rooms; and (4) processing City inspection.
SALES
I interviewed 8 HVAC contractors within a 30mi radius of Davis. I met with Jon Wilkerson (owner) and immediately felt comfortable with him because of his approach. He was patient, extremely knowledgeable, listened to my needs, helped me to get informed on details and wasn’t pushy. He spoke in facts and wasn’t condescending (I’m an engineer so I know a little bit about HVAC and asked a lot of questions) like other contractors. I asked for a Trane heat pump because I wanted a reliable system that was easy (and less expensive) to maintain and service.
Jon wasn’t the cheapest, but he also wasn’t the most expensive, but he was the one that cared on a personal level. He worked with me on options, including ways to save on install cost. In the end, I was very happy with the contracting process, especially since Jon came up with some betterments, including: 0% interest financing; hybrid furnace in lieu of an air handler (avoided 220v panel upgrade and extra conduit runs to attic); hard-wired temperature sensors; motorized dampers to provide finer trim control on air distribution.
INSTALLATION
Installation took about a week to complete and was done during the middle of COVID summer. His crew was led by Kevin (who is top-notch!) and everyone was respectful of my property. They were masked, they laid down mats to protect my flooring and everyone was polite and courteous; they also cleaned up everything at the end of each day to ensure I would be able to use the area. The work was during summer, so Jon’s crew provided me and my family with portable ACs in the interim, which I only need for one night bc the heat pump was operational by Day 2. At the end of each day, I’d inspect the work and everything looked carefully well-done. Whenever I had questions, Kevin and his crew answered and addressed anything I could come up with. I also kept a punch list and Kevin patiently knocked everything off the punch list – big and small.
POST-INSTALL
No construction/install is perfect, but it’s how hiccups are handled that spoke volumes for Jon and his crew’s integrity and pride of work. There were a few things that were overlooked, but they were quickly addressed. Later, City inspection came back perfect. Occasionally, Jon would call me just to check in on how the system was running. He’s the only contractor that was ever done that and speaks to his confidence in his crew’s work and customer care.
Over the course of the year, there were expected tweaks to the system; but they were minor and related to personal customization and settings that I sought that I couldn’t do myself (eg. configuring the hybrid furnace to use more electric (bc I have solar) than gas heating unless extreme temperatures are needed).
As of this review, my heat pump has been running for over a year and I have no regrets or reservations about choosing Jon’s team. My house is more comfortable and quieter (bc of heat pump runs in variable speed), actual run times have been lower (bc variable speed helps to regulate heat better) and my power usage has been generally less than my initial calculations.

Very knowledgeable staff, which is why I went with Thompson. Most of the other HVAC vendors don't know the technical details of heat pump systems and just BS answers for the hard questions, which is a non-starter for me. Very happy with the Trane products. On-time, nice work, and wore masks.

Great service, owner and receptionist were awesome. My apartment manager mistakingly gave them the wrong address so I was without AC for 3 days on 3 100+ degree days(wasn't Thompsons fault). So I gave them a call and explained the issue told them the part needed and asked if there was anyway they could come out today, but all of their technicians were booked out. So the owner came out personally and fixed it right away! Would recommend this place to anyone in need of AC repair, couldn't be happier right now. Thank you!

The experience was great from the initial consultation with John. He answered all of our questioned and we did not feel he was trying to sell us on something we didn’t need. The crew that came to our home to install our new system were professional and friendly. System is working great. I would definitely recommend Thompson’s Heating & Air to family and friends.
