The menu is so thoughtful including the drinks. We loved trying skate wing for the first time. the Crab Mazemen was our fav dish of the night. The Zabuton Steak was incredible as well! The mushroom special left a little to be desired but it was still solid. The restaurant is beautiful, the staff is so lovely (shoutout to Julio) and we will be coming back to try brunch very soon!
We went Sunday and the experience was honestly baffling.
The service was just okay, but the food had virtually no taste at all. We ordered three Japanese breakfast sets (with no prices listed on the menu), three coffees, and a pancake to share. The portions were extremely small and completely unjustified for the final bill.
The Maine uni add-on was particularly absurd: $12 for an almost nonexistent portion. Combined with bland, flavorless dishes, it made the whole meal feel like very poor value.
Our total came to over $200 for three people, which is crazy given the quality and quantity of food. I emailed the restaurant afterward to share our concerns and request a review of the bill, and the fact that I never even received a reply makes the experience feel even worse.
NYC has countless better options at this price point. I absolutely do not recommend this place.

Came here last night and had the best experience! The food was incredible! It’s evident they take a lot of pride in providing a wonderful experience for everyone that dines there, shoutout to Chris for being awesome! Ambiance is perfect for a date night. Everything we got last night was delicious! Highly recommend the duck hearts, tuna nori, smashed cucumbers, seared mackerel, steak, grilled mochi cake and white sesame ice cream!
Unfortunately celebrated a disappointing birthday at Rule of Thirds Brooklyn, came here for my best friend’s 20th who grew up in Japan and wanted to treat her to a heart warming dinner. However what we received was not that, the food was inauthentic, the staff is all white that cannot pronounce the dishes correctly.. even the manager, and extremely overpriced for its portions. Won’t be coming back. There are so many amazing authentic and delicious Japanese establishments just within blocks of the restaurant, I regret not choosing one of those. Btw the karaage is really not good. And lowkey neither is the macaroni salad. And the yaki onigiri falls apart.
