I recently received a linen garment from the Skullery and I am honestly so impressed. The quality of the fabric is beautiful and you can really see the care that goes into the workmanship. The fit is flattering, comfortable and timeless - exactly what you want from a linen piece. It's rare to find clothing that feels both effortless and well made. I'll definitely be adding more Skullery pieces to my wardrobe.
Very disappointing experience ordering from The Skullery.
The dress I received looked nothing like what was advertised. The images on the website create the expectation of a well-fitted, neatly finished garment, however the dress I received was extremely oversized despite ordering according to the size chart, far too long, and the hem is visibly uneven.
When I raised these concerns, I was told that refunds are not offered because the garments are “handmade to order,” and that my issue was essentially being treated as a change of mind or personal preference. This was frustrating, as my concern is not about preference — it is that the garment I received does not match the expectations created by the images and has clear workmanship issues.
While alterations were offered, this does not address the fact that the product delivered is not what was reasonably expected.
Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing experience.

As mentioned in our email correspondence, all of our garments are handmade to order once an order is placed, and for this reason we do not offer refunds. However, we do offer complimentary alterations to ensure the garment fits our clients as intended. In your case, alterations were offered to address the concerns you raised, but unfortunately this option was declined.
With regard to pockets, as explained previously, pockets are offered as an optional extra. Many of our clients prefer the flexibility of choosing whether or not they would like pockets added, rather than having them included by default, which is why they are listed as a selectable option during the ordering process.
In terms of length, we also offer a custom length option for clients who would like their garments shorter or longer than the standard length. As this option was not selected on your order, the dress was made in the standard length as listed on the product page.
Our goal is always to assist our clients and ensure they are happy with their garments, which is why we offered alterations to resolve the concerns raised. We remain open to assisting you should you wish to proceed with adjustments.

Poor fitting garment. No communication after I asked for a refund. Unfortunately I only saw afterwards that they don't refund sale items, funny that as all their garments are on sale. They also use images from another website meaning that the garments don't actually look or fit the same. I'm very disappointed as Im always keen to support Local. But it is businesses like these that give our local clothing industry a bad reputation. Overpriced, ill fitting garments. The pant doesn't even have a label in.
Edit: I think it is important to mention that this brand offers a R250 voucher if customers write them a Google review after enjoying their online experience. As far as I understand, offering incentives for reviews goes against Google’s review policies because it can create biased feedback. Incentivising reviews may encourage only positive responses and can undermine the trust and authenticity that reviews are meant to provide.

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, my experience was not as described. The emails I sent were not replied to, and no one reached out to discuss alterations or to try and remedy the situation.
The issues with the garment unfortunately go beyond minor alterations. The straps are far too wide and create a large bulge across the back, so the garment does not lie flat against the body as shown in the product photos. The pants also do not convert into a jumpsuit properly, and the rises are far too long, making the overall fit very unflattering.
In my opinion, this piece would need to be completely remade to correct these issues. Alterations alone would not resolve the structural fit problems, and unfortunately the fabric quality also does not meet my expectations.
I had hoped for assistance or a constructive solution, but this was not offered despite my attempts to reach out.

It’s really a lot to pay for a French linen dress and if you pay a lot of money for it you expect the same pattern in return as that you order from The trace in their catalogue it was never cut on the same pattern The original pattern had a small opening around the neck the one I received was a very widely cut open the original pattern was cut in panels in front and the one I Received was cut in one piece at the front very plain and simple stress was nearly R2000 and not worth the money at all not satisfied and will not make use of them for surely not

From your description, we are not entirely sure what you mean regarding the pattern differences, as the construction details mentioned do not fully align with the design specifications of this garment. The side panels you are referring to are specifically included when a client selects the front pocket option, which is an optional extra that needs to be selected when placing the order.

A round table cloth advertised as “pure natural linen” arrived in very an inferior rayon mix, with a seam down the middle of the round cloth. Absolutely obsessed with The Skullery.
I purchased two linen pieces — the powder blue adjustable romper and the taupe maxi wrap — and both exceeded expectations.
The linen quality is excellent: breathable, soft, and structured enough to hold its shape without looking stiff or cheap. The powder blue romper is insanely flattering, adjustable in all the right places, and actually wearable for real life (not just photos). The taupe maxi wrap is elegant, timeless, and drapes beautifully — it’s one of those pieces you can dress up or down without effort.
Fit is spot-on, stitching is clean, and the designs feel thoughtful and intentional, not mass-produced fast fashion. You can tell care went into these pieces.
Delivery was smooth, packaging was lovely, and the entire experience felt premium from start to finish.

Sadly a 1 is too high a review for The Skullery. What an appalling, misleading experience. Days to respond to messages, a linen table cloth ordered turned out to be a grossly inferior quality charged at a pure linen price and a refund was refused. There was an overlocked seam down the middle which wasn’t disclosed. I retuned the product as it was not what was ordered (a pure linen table cloth as a gift for my mother) Nandi refused a refund as it is a ‘custom made product’. Disgraceful, misleading and a terrible waste of money
