GO ELSEWHERE! I wish I had read the reviews before I consigned with them. I bought a pair of new shoes from them (a final sale) and they didn't fit (though I thought they would because I have 3 other pairs by the same brand in the same size). I decided to re-consign them. They sold them for LESS than what I bought them for, and I had never worn them! I consigned several items with them, selling 2 in one month. One was the pair of never-worn shoes I re-consigned, and a jacket that I wore once (and I bought) for $80. My total earnings for the month? $16! OMG! What a total rip off! I should've stuck with Poshmark! DON'T consign with them, they're crooks!

I was so thrilled to find the bag I was desperately searching for an upcoming event on the real real. Condition was listed as Very Good Details:Minor creasing at flap underside; minor scratches at hardware I opened and inspected the bag the day I got it to find the leather on the crossbody in terrible shape pealing in multiple locations on both sides, the hardware was also more the minor scratches. I contacted support with in hours of receiving my purchased and was told I would have an answer in 24 hours I did not, I have now contacted them 3 more times and again have been told I will be contacted in 24-48hours. The event is in 2 weeks not leaving much room to get a replacement. As a reseller myself Im beyond disappointed. I list every flaw and take detailed photos of any and all flaws. Not only was the flaw not mentioned in the description but no photos of the flaw leather on the strap were showed .

I purchased a ************* purse for my daughter for Christmas. I bought the purse at the end of October and it was wrapped when I received it. When my daughter opened it on Christmas morning she was overjoyed! As she took the purse out of The Real Real bag, she straightened out the strap and the strap immediately broke off of the purse. The website lists fair condition as used with visual scuffs but fully functional and no malfunctions. I contacted The ********* to discuss the situation. The purse should have been marked as is and not fair. I was told that I could consign with them, but that was all they could do. I then repeated that I bought this and didnt open until Christmas morning, and that it was incorrectly labeled for the condition in which it was received. The representative told me that I should have inspected it when it arrived and again, I could consign with them. So, I paid them for a bag that was labeled incorrectly according to their own definition, then told I could consign the bag with them (for less than I bought it for of course, and allow them to make a profit off of me a second time on the same bag, while I lose money and the item!)The representative was condescending and unhelpful. I warn all users NOT to purchase from The Real Real, and if you do, do not expect to receive what you pay for, or the value in the expected condition. My husband has bought items there in the past, and I thought they had been good investments, only to learn he purchased new. The Real Real is now notorious for this type of transaction, and a quick social media search will also inform you that many items are now counterfeit. Again, DO NOT purchase from this retailer!1 Star rating is too generous!

Im giving a one-star review based on a recent experience I had, which The RealReal should openly disclose to their customers. BE AWARE they will over price certain items, even if its currently available on the designer/company website. I reached out to them regarding a black ***** ***** sweater that was marked as very good condition (i.e., not new, signs of wear, but no major damage). After I purchased it, I realized the same sweater was available online for $195 and TRR was charging $225.for a used very good version of it. I thought maybe it was an error and they estimated the retail price incorrectly. Turns out they are aware they over priced it and not willing to come down on the cost. This is understandable for a rare collectors item, but a used sweater that is currently available online and doesnt even have the tags on? Thats just blatantly scamming your customers and hoping they dont notice. The *** employee I was working with was Mus and he/she spoke like a robot - first they said theres nothing they can do, then offered $25 off, then $50, then sent me a return slip so they can sell it to someone else for $225. Really disappointing to learn that I cant trust their pricing, and theyre basically scalping high street brands. I love shopping with them, and you can find a good deal, but on the other end, theyre also stealing. F them for that. If youre advertising consignment prices, dont price higher than retail ESPECIALLY when its available still. FYI this is also the case for readily available Khaite belts (and Im sure many other things).

BE AWARE - charging more than retail I'm giving a one-star review based on a recent experience I had, which The RealReal should openly disclose to their customers. BE AWARE they will over price certain items, even if it's currently available on the designer/company website. I reached out to them regarding a black Jenni Kayne sweater that was marked as "very good" condition (i.e., not new, signs of wear, but no major damage). They are CROOKS! Do not use them, they are total crooks! I cannot believe the price they sold my stuff at, and did not ask me they just sold it. I was told I could get like 120 for something, I got 35? WTF?

I submitted a ***** handbag that I was told they were not able to authenticate I expected the bag to be returned to me and a few days later I received another email that the bag was found not to be authentic and would be Sequestered However on my account it would say the bag was shipped back to me . I did not understand why it would be recorded that way since it was not shipped back . I sent numerous requests to have my bag which was a authentic handbag returned to me since the only reason I was consigning it was for at home assistant for my elderly mother.I communicated with a couple different representatives one who told me I should have had my bag returned to me and another who ask for email proof for the inconsistent way the situation was handled once I sent her all of the emails and after My following up with her numerous times for a resolution the final reply was I'm very sorry .Nothing more

Sold me almost $600 worth of fake merchandise. I sent the items back for reauthentication, and received an email back regarding one of the items, saying Our team received the shoes and have been deemed authentic but our Auth Compliance team. That said, the item will be returned to you or we can help with consigning the item. I know fake merchandise, when I see it. And it is clear that their team lacks quality training, as they sent me two counterfeit items, back to back. I wish I had checked ******* first, as there are tons of people on there, with complaints of being stuck with fake merchandise from ***, due to the ********** policies. A multi-million dollar luxury goods company with a ONE-STAR rating on the BBB was also another tell-tale sign. How is it that I can put your ********* ********* next to my ********* *********, and they are the SAME style, but yours looks completely different, even down to the ********* ********* stamp??? And just to clarify, I purchased mine at the ********* ********* boutique!!!!! I am P*SSED, to say the least. TRR, in my option, is a SCAM. Anyone who orders from there should highly question the legitimacy of the items that they are receiving. I will literally never put another ***** into this company!

Awful experience Awful company for consignors. They take advantage by pricing the items very low and almost immediately discounting them. Instead of the RealReal getting a commission as mediators, they give a commission to the seller. When I saw how much they discounted (and immediately sold) my item, I asked them to return the rest. They charge $15 per item to return them. Additionally, they keep $10 off the monthly check as a "check by mail fee". Their model is not working and the customers are punished for it. Stay away!

DO NOT SELL ON THE REAL REAL DO NOT USE THE TO SELL YOUR ITEMS! First, I shipped 16 items, they could only find 12 until in contacted them repeatedly. They finally found the other items. Of the 16,10 were accepted for sale and 6 were supposed to be sent back to me. They have me one tracking number for the 6 items. The tracking number only had 2 of the 6 items and they cannot locate the other 4. So I am still missing 4 from that shipment. Next, they sold a $180 pair of shoes for $68 and I only made $10. Unacceptable! I was told I'd get to approve the prices. So now I've asked them to return all the rest of my items. They wanted to change me $135 to get my items back, but since I had proof that they told me I could get my items back if I didn't approve of their prices they waived the $135, but told me it would take 30 days to get my $5000 worth of items back. I DO NOT TRUST THEM, they are thieves. If you are a buyer, you are safe because the items are real.

Purchase $800+ worth of good and the items were lost. However, they told the bank that it has arrived. So I lost over $800 for things that never arrived.

This company is a **** for anyone selling an item. RR came on strong and the service sounded great. "We will send you a pre paid label, just send us your garmet and let our experts do the rest". "It takes up to two weeks to receive and assess your garmet, expect an online price within 4 weeks"...I sent a &***** wedding gown, The Real Real posted it UNDER ONE WEEK of receivership, and posted it as a bridesmaid dress. They did not respond to my texts that my gown was a wedding dress and NOT a bridesmaid dress. Totally ignored me. Sold my 7K dress in a mere few days for $100! I tried to stop the sale, I called, I texted several times. The ********* is for someone buying I guess as someone hit the lottery with my gown. They should be shut down and investigated. ******! I was scammed and had absolutely no recourse. Unethical business practices. I feel like they stole from me, because they did.

Do Not Consign with them as they are absolutely horrible in every way I sent Brand New items with tags and or in boxes . They listed most as "Good Condition"This is because the lister is on the hook if they miss an issue ,, so easier to list all items as "good and or used" . The lister has Zero motivation to list an item correctly "new condition"They don't care if an item sells , their only concern is to not get any backlash for missing a defect So ,, almost all new items will be listed as Less than new ..They also take 3 weeks plus just to list an item ..They also sell items for way less than other platforms .. I know a woman that makes her living off items she purchased from The ********* at well below market prices and sells on **** at 2-3X There is a reason why this company has never made a profit .I tried in 2019 and again in 2024 and had really bad experiences both times Bankruptcy is imminent

Placed an order on 10/17/24 for $1139.82 worth of items. Item was shipped in 2 separate boxes. Received *** notification that items were delivered, but didn't have a delivery. Photos of delivery are clearly not at my doorstep. I immediately notify *** who tells me that *** must issue the claim. I call TRR and they say they will start a claim and I will hear back in 24 hrs. I do not. I contact them again. After days, received an email saying I will have to complete a "verification process", but it will come in a separate email. I never see that email come. I get an email from *** that says that I didn't complete the verification process, so this is now my problem. I email and explain that I didn't see an email from them. On a weekend evening, they send an email saying I now have 24 hrs to complete the verification. I still can't find it until too late bc the email does not indicate anything about it being from *** so it goes to my spam. No indication of the subject matter or the merchant. It's very clear the merchant does not want you to complete this process! They set you up to fail. I have called them & emailed them numerous times trying to speak to someone who can help & give them any information needed. Finally, I call *** who informs me that *** has not even opened a claim on the lost packages. *** continues to respond to my requests to speak to someone by saying "file a claim on your homeowners". (If you read complaints below, this is a common theme.).I cannot and should not file a claim on my insurance for the loss of a package that was NOT delivered to me. *** customer svc is clearly trained to make sure you cannot speak to anyone of authority. I have repeatedly asked to speak to the people who email me, but they cannot "put you through". This company is a crooked as they come and customers need to know not to buy with them. Oh, and ps. I paid $15 for shipping on my $1100 purchase and they didn't bother to send it signature required. Do not buy or sell here!!

Don't consign with the TRR. I wish I hadn't When they are trying to get your items, they promise transparency in pricing and an opportunity to dispute the pricing. That is a lie. By the time you know what price they've assigned (which is ridiculously low), it's gone. Never again.
