I am a patient at Terranova Medical clinic. I would like to write that I had an issue with my medical provider and I called to talk to Pauline the Richmond clinic manager, and she helped me get in contact with another family doctor to be my family provider for my husband and myself, and I am very happy about this; as someone on the autistic spectrum, it is greatly appreciated to have this support. My name is Emily and I have been a patient of Terranova since I moved to British Columbia from Alberta with my husband in 2019. I briefly moved to another clinic when my doctor from Terranova moved, but then again made Terranova my home clinic. I have read some negative reviews for Terranova Clinic and Pauline has encouraged patients to reach out to her instead of leaving a bad review, and I can say that I had a difficulty myself with treatment and reached out to Pauline, and she was nothing but helpful. Sometimes patients and doctors or medical practitioners are not a good fit, and instead of writing off Terranova clinic altogether, there are other options out there, like requesting to see another medical practitioner that is more suited to you needs. As someone who has been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, I require very clear communication, and requested another provider, someone both my husband and I could see as a family. I was encouraged to write to Pauline to outline my concerns and I never felt retaliated against. Some patients might feel reluctant to bring up a concern for fear of retaliation or being labeling, so they remain silent or just leave. But Pauline was very respectful and reached out to find another doctor who would see us. And I am very happy to hear that Dr. Lydia Catherine Gibson-Boyce at Terranova Mainstreet is willing to be the primary care giver for my husband and I. She is educated in psychiatry and as such, has an understanding of Asperger's Syndrome (autism spectrum disorder). I am pleased to inform the reader that my husband and myself have been invited to set up a specific meeting as a "meet and greet" to meet our new doctor: Dr. Lydia Catherine Gibson-Boyce from the Mainstreet Terranova branch. We are pleased that we have this option and that we will have a family doctor. So, it is okay to reach out. It won't lead to negative repercussions. Terranova is open to hearing from their patients. It is okay to advocate for yourself; to actively ask question, ask for alternative options, to make informed decisions, to politely decline treatment you are not comfortable with (my decision to focus on meditation was respected). People on the Spectrum, especially someone with anxiety disorder (I have GAD too) need direct and clear communication, clear examples, as well as a respectful and safe environment that is free from surprises or being blind sided. They need an environment where their uniqueness is welcomed. It's okay to be different. We are all unique. Respecting our dignity is vital. All of us need this actually. And I am confident that our new family doctor will create a respectful, safe, and empowering environment, where our autonomy and uniqueness is valued. Thank you, Emily Ashley.

Dr. Y was very thoural with his examination of my mom . He even asked his colleague to help him out . The only problem with the clinic is that the examination rooms are small and can not fit a wheel chair 2 people assisting the patient and the doctor

I have a family doctor I cannot book with as there are never appointments as they are never there. And since they say I have a family doctor they will not let me switch to any of their other doctors. They same is happening with my other family members doctors at this clinic. So they have placed me between a rock and a hard place. I need a family doctor but cannot access the family doctor I am supposed to have. And don’t try to talk to reception about it. They will just tell you to keep trying and that there is nothing they can do and do not want to disturb the Doctors with any questions of what can be done. Just terrible.

My family doctor left this clinic and I’m glad he did. While this doesn’t apply to all of the staff, a couple of the front desk attendants are incredibly rude and unfriendly. They were also NEVER reachable by phone.

If I could give him a rating of zero I would but one star was the lowest I can go. I have had an incredibly disappointing experience with Dr. Qazalbash. He lacks basic bedside manner, rushing through appointments like he’s trying to beat a stopwatch. Any questions or concerns I brought up were dismissed with an attitude that made me feel like I was wasting his time. There was no attempt to listen or explain things thoroughly. To make matters worse, I noticed his office tried to schedule me for unnecessary procedures and check-ups. They even tried to book me for a test I had already done just six months ago! It felt like they were more concerned with hitting some sort of quota or billing target than with my actual health. The staff reflects his disorganization and poor attitude. I wouldn’t recommend him to anyone looking for a doctor who cares about their patients. Honestly, I would rather get the flu then walk into their clinic again to get a flu shot. Save yourselves the trouble, headache and frustration people- go to another clinic. There’s a reason why so many people are leaving terrible reviews about them.

Dr. Julie Wilson is an amazing doctor. She is beautiful inside and out. I have been experiencing severe pain due to a kidney stone and badly needed a prescription for pain medication. Earlier today, the wait time in the ER was about 5 hours and I couldn’t leave my baby for too long since I am breastfeeding. I sent a text message to Dr. Julie for the first time, not expecting her to reply, but she responded immediately. Even though she is not working in the office today, she went above and beyond to help me. Thank you Dr. Julie for being the best family doctor and for taking care of me and my family ❤️

Here is my opinion on Terra nova medical clinic . Yes , sometimes I don’t understand what they are saying but , if a person has an ounce of concern , ask to speak with someone else you then would not incur unnecessary expense ( late / no show fees ) . Get in touch with yourself and clarify the information being put out to you . EVERYONE has the rite to employment . My wife and I , have had difficult times understanding as well . But , we asked for clarification . Dr. Bortnik , is second to none when it comes to care / concern and compassion with us . We are privileged to be with her after our Doctor retired . We met Dr. Bortnik in Surrey where we live . When she informed us she was moving her practice to Richmond where she lives , we weren’t prepared to move in . We drive to Richmond when we need to . To Dr. Bortnik and the staff at Terra Nova Medical , we thank you 🙏

I love my family doctor, Dr. Robert McKenzie. He addresses your concerns in one visit and doesn’t require you to return for another appointment. He stays up-to-date with technology, listens to his patients, and shows genuine empathy. Dr. McKenzie never rushes you during your visit, and he is always respectful and professional. If you need a referral to a specialist, he will facilitate that without delay, unlike some other doctors who may take their time before doing so. I also appreciate the atmosphere at the Terranova Clinic. The office staff, led by Mary Ann and her team, are cheerful, work well together, and treat patients with kindness. Even when they are busy, they always make time to smile and engage in brief conversations. Lianne is very friendly and upbeat, while Michelle may appear serious but is also approachable. They are attentive to your concerns and allow you to schedule future appointments to accommodate your needs. Their reminder system, which sends notifications via email and text about upcoming appointments, is excellent. Most importantly for me, the clinic is paperless, embracing technology in the healthcare industry. This allows for quick access to patient files without having to sift through piles of paperwork.

If you can, try to avoid these people. It is very clear that they do not care about their patients at all. They will treat you like an inconvenience at best. UPDATE: below the clinic claims they "made every effort to explore various solutions to address my concerns" - they sent my son's referral to a specialist who was retired and then never followed up when they didn't receive a response. So my child had to wait an extra year plus to get a diagnosis and treatment. This is not me being unreasonable. This is them being irresponsible with their patients' health.

Absolute struggle to get my prescription filled. My pharmacy has to send them the same form multiple times every month to get the prescription filled. UPDATE: Now I need to make an appointment each and every time I need a refill on my prescription even though I already met with my doctor who confirmed I am good to go moving forward with said prescription. I do not know why everything is an administrative nightmare with this clinic.

Very frustrating experience. Received a "text" to make an appointment (after blood work came back with flags) and found the website very difficult to navigate so tried calling without success. Was put on hold for 15 minutes then told to leave a message. Waited a week to see if doctors office would call (like every other doctor I've had) and no such luck. A week later I decided to try calling again and this time I got through but another issue. This time they could not find my name in the system it sounded like an call center lots of back round chatter (definitely was not a doctors office) . Realizing I needed to have my blood work addressed I went to my pharmacist. They looked at BW and made an appointment with a call in doctor for the next morning and I had medication by 11 am the next day. Can't explain why Terra Nova group is like this but based on reviews they have serious issues with their system. It's a shame as first contact was someone calling me to set up a call in appointment with doctor Dr. Alam which I liked he seemed like a great doctor. How it could go so wrong after that is anybody's guess. To finish up 4 days after getting my BW and prescription addressed, Dr Alam's office called wanting me to make an appointment... Go figure

Although we find most of the the staff there helpful, unfortunately, we are patients of Dr. Samantha Man…… (feel free to check out her ratings on rate md) she refuses to give childhood vaccines because she “doesn’t like poking little kids with needles”. When you approach her about an issue, she dismisses you quickly, often suggesting you set up more appointments. She’s clearly in it for a paycheck. All seven of my family members underneath her care are uncomfortable with her and find her unprofessional. We have tried our hardest to switch to a different doctor within the clinic and Dr Man REFUSES To let us switch. I don’t know why you would want patients who feel uncomfortable under your care???? Like I said earlier. Only for the paycheck. Terrible Doctor With terrible bedside manner.

If you prefer to see a different physician, you can contact us to book with one of our locum doctors or other available physicians. When you make the call, please ask for one of the Managers and they will personally book you in for a different appointment. With regards to childhood vaccinations: some physicians, including Dr. Man, do not directly provide these services. If you are coming in for pediatric vaccinations, you can also let us know and we would be happy to set up the appointment for you to the appropriate doctor. This is a rare occurrence and we truly hope to resolve your concerns and find a solution that meets the needs of you and your family. I have very positive experience with NP Linda Yang and Doctor Stewart Mawdsley. They have been so attentive to all my issues and that is exactly what a patient seeks when they go for professional opinions. The front desk staff have improved significantly from few years ago and are all very responsive.
