Had a fuel pump issue about a month before taking it to these unethical imbeciles. My mechanic inspected my vehicle after making repairs and told me everything was good to go. Then I took my car to get an oil change here, and they told me my fuel pump was about to go, but I knew I already had it replaced, and they were lying to me. I just nodding pretending I knew nothing, and asked them what the issue was, and how much they were trying to charge. tldr; these guys are liars, they might even damage your vehicle so that they could steal your money. Stay away from this place.

Stan,

We are confident this review does not pertain to our shop or describe an interaction with us.

After reviewing our records, we have been unable to identify any client, vehicle, repair order, estimate, or service visit matching either your name or the circumstances described. We have also reached out to you via Yelp private messaging, as we genuinely want to investigate any concern brought to our attention, but you haven't responded in over 4 days.

For the benefit of anyone reading this review, the scenario described is not at all consistent with how we operate. We do not ever - and would never - recommend replacement of a Fuel Pump based on a visual inspection performed during an Oil Change service. In fact, a Fuel Pump cannot be properly diagnosed that way. If our Technicians observe symptoms that could potentially indicate a fuel system concern, our standard procedure is to recommend Testing & Evaluation, explain the associated fee, and obtain the client's authorization for testing procedures before performing any diagnostic work. Only after testing confirms the cause of a problem would we ever recommend replacing a component.

We are also troubled by the allegations that we would intentionally mislead clients or damage vehicles. Such claims are completely inconsistent with our values, our documented procedures, and the reputation we have worked hard to build within our community over many years.

While reviewing your public profile, Stan, we also noticed other instances in which businesses expressed uncertainty as to whether the reviews you left for them pertained to actual client experiences. This further contributes to our concern that this review was likely posted to the wrong business.

Stan, if you believe this review was intended for Temecula Auto Repair & Transmission, we would sincerely welcome additional details so we can investigate. If it was intended for another business, we respectfully request that it be removed.

We remain committed to honest, professional service and to diagnosing vehicles through testing and evidence - not assumptions.

I brought my vehicle to this shop for a transmission diagnostic and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. My vehicle remained at the shop for over four weeks before I received any final answer regarding the issue. I was charged for diagnostics and was informed that no problems were found, despite the fact that the transmission continues to slip exactly as it did before service. I also noticed a significant amount of fuel had been used while the vehicle was in the shop's possession. I understand that road testing may be necessary during diagnostics, but the amount of fuel consumed seemed excessive given the outcome. Overall, after more than a month without a resolution and still experiencing the same transmission issue, I left feeling frustrated with the communication, turnaround time, and results provided. I hope this feedback helps improve the experience for future customers.

David, we certainly understand your frustration, and we're sorry the process took longer than either of us would have liked. For clarity to anyone reading, a significant portion of the extended timeframe involved delays from the Extended Service Plan administrator related to authorization and inspection procedures for other unrelated repairs being considered under your coverage, including the time required for them to send an inspector. Additionally, while the Extended Service Plan inspector was at our facility, he reviewed all concerns documented on the repair order and likewise was unable to identify or verify any active Transmission malfunction during his own inspection and evaluation. This further reinforced the difficulty in duplicating the intermittent condition being described at the time the vehicle was in our possession.

Regarding our evaluation of the Transmission concern itself, we performed extensive Testing, including repeated road testing well beyond what is typically required, specifically because we were unable to duplicate the slipping condition you described and all test results continued to return normal - no fault codes, no abnormal fluid conditions, and no measurable indications of Transmission failure at the time of testing.

In fact, because we took your concern seriously and continued pursuing the issue despite the absence of confirmable findings, we invested substantially more technician time, shop resources, and road testing than the original diagnostic charge covered, without ever increasing the fee you authorized upfront. We also attempted to have your Extended Service Plan cover the diagnostic charges; however, they declined because no repairable failure could be verified during testing.

As for fuel usage, your vehicle arrived with less than a quarter tank of fuel while requesting diagnosis of Transmission and drivability-related concerns. Throughout our conversations, we communicated that extensive driving would be necessary in an effort to reproduce an intermittent condition, and we even added fuel to the vehicle at our own expense during the process.

We are genuinely sorry there remains a concern about the transmission's performance after pickup, especially given the amount of testing we performed. If the slipping condition is now occurring consistently enough to demonstrate, we would absolutely welcome the opportunity to road test the vehicle together and reassess the concern. Should a warrantable failure become identifiable and covered by the Extended Service Plan, we would be happy to work with the administrator to seek reimbursement of the diagnostic charges and provide the appropriate refund accordingly.

had my battery tested again and Costco confirmed that Temecula auto repair and transmission did not even test my battery… They tested someone else's battery. So apart from not getting an accurate reliable valid parasitic draw diagnosis and a electrical/short circuit diagnosis, they flat out lied about the whole basis of their argument which was my battery was bad. But turns out they did not even test my battery. This place is so deceitful and untrustworthy.
Reply from Temecula Auto Repair & Transmission 2026.04.09
We take concerns like this very seriously and want to provide clear context for anyone reading.

David, we respectfully disagree, as there is no realistic way for another shop to determine or verify what specific testing procedures were performed at our facility, let alone conclude that a different battery was tested. We stand fully behind our documented diagnostic process and the integrity of the work completed.

You brought your Honda in specifically requesting testing for a parasitic draw, and we clearly reviewed and agreed upon the diagnostic fee in advance before any work was performed. We completed that testing thoroughly over multiple days (to allow the vehicle to remain parked relative to a potential draw over extended time), and the results showed the draw was within manufacturer specifications - meaning there was no excessive parasitic draw present. At the same time, our testing identified a failing Battery with a bad cell, which can cause intermittent dead battery conditions even if the Battery is relatively new.

It's important to understand that our shop's (or any shop's) fees for diagnostic services are not based on a hoped-for outcome. They are based on the time, equipment, and expertise required to determine what is and isn't wrong with a vehicle, and the results are dictated by the vehicle's actual condition - not something within our control. In this case, we performed the exact testing requested and provided clear, documented findings.

We're also unclear where the $700 figure mentioned in this review came from, as our estimate for the Battery was $273.84 plus a modest installation charge.

As part of our process, we also performed a courtesy inspection and noted additional items, including worn Brakes and fluid leaks. This is never an upsell - it's our responsibility to notify clients so they can make informed decisions about their vehicles.

When you picked up the vehicle, we applied a goodwill discount to the diagnostic charge, reducing the total charge to under $200 for an inordinate amount of work performed. A refund was later requested merely because the results did not match expectations; however, the testing was completed as authorized, and the findings accurately reflected what was - and was not - wrong with the Honda van at the time of testing. These results were thoroughly and accurately documented.

Our goal is always to be thorough, accurate, and transparent. We stand behind our testing, our recommendations, and our commitment to treating every client with honesty and respect.

We take feedback like this seriously and want to provide some clarity for anyone reading.

Your Honda was brought to us, Mr. Boone, with a request to perform parasitic draw testing, and we reviewed and agreed to the diagnostic fee with you, prior to beginning any work.

We respectfully disagree with your assertion regarding the battery testing , as there is no realistic way for another shop to determine or verify what specific testing procedures were performed at our facility, let alone conclude that a different battery was tested. We stand fully behind our documented diagnostic process and the integrity of the work completed.

Our team carried out that testing over multiple days, and the results showed the electrical draw was within manufacturer specifications, indicating no excessive parasitic draw.

During that same process, we identified that the Battery had a bad cell, which can lead to intermittent no-start or dead battery conditions, even if the Battery is still relatively new.

It’s important for anyone reading to understand that diagnostic work is not based on a hoped-for outcome. It is based on the time, tools, and expertise required to accurately determine what is - and is not - causing a concern, with results dictated by the vehicle itself, not by assumption. In this case, we completed the exact testing requested and provided clear, documented results.

We are also unsure where the $700 figure referenced in this review originated, as our documented estimate for the Battery was $273.84 plus a nominal installation charge.

As part of our standard process, we performed a courtesy inspection and noted additional items such as worn Brakes and fluid leaks. This is not an upsell - it is our responsibility to make clients aware of any safety or reliability concerns so they can make informed decisions.

At time of vehicle pickup, we extended a goodwill discount on the diagnostic service. A refund was later requested because the outcome did not align with expectations; however, the testing was completed as authorized, and the findings accurately reflected what was - and was not - wrong with the Honda van at the time of testing, with all results properly documented.

We remain committed to providing honest, thorough, and transparent service, and we stand behind both our process and our team.

I dropped my car off for a general assessment and new brakes. The man at the front desk, Dale, was kind and walked me through what the process was going to look like. He answered my every question with patience and knowledge, (I work nights, and was exhausted, so I’m almost certain some of my questions had already been answered before I asked them) and then sent me on my way with the promise to do no work without my approval. When he called to explain my car’s issues, he was honest about what was priority and what could wait a little longer to be addressed. He did not push or try to upsell me. In total, they replaced my front brakes and rotors, replaced my brake fluid and completed an alignment. They also rotated my tires free of charge because they had noticed the beginnings of tire wear. The payment and pickup process was painless and quick, and then I was on my way home. I felt respected during every conversation, and never felt pressured to pay for something I didn’t understand. I will be returning. And I will recommend Temecula Auto Repair and Transmission to anybody that asks.

I had my newly acquired ‘64 Vette shipped to Temecula Auto Repair as a result of my phone conversation with Ramsey, the shop owner. Ramsey assured me he and his mechanics were knowledgeable and able to work on many makes of vintage vehicle, Chevy Corvettes included. With few exceptions Ramsey was the only person I talked to through the process, updating me on repairs completed, challenges in completing other repairs, part shipping delays, etc. The repairs were mostly fix it items but surprisingly some were quite involved in nature to fix. Bottom line; Ramsey and his crew got the job done right. As I wait in the DMV line to finally register the vehicle I wanted to take a minute to express my gratitude for the crew at Temecula Auto Repair who completed the top to bottom inspection and repairs on my car to make it safe and sound, vehicle registration ready and more importantly performing great!

Completely unprofessional and over priced. I would take my car anywhere but here. Manager has attitude as if you're bothering him asking questions about vehicle service. Got a quote from 3 other shops close by and Temecula auto repair was trying to over charge my by 300$ even other shops were shocked when I told them the price I was quoted to fix my vehicle. Take your money and car to a shop that will treat you with respect be honest and appreciate your business because this shop most definitely does not
Reply from Temecula Auto Repair & Transmission 2026.02.20
Jay, we take feedback seriously and make every effort to address concerns directly and constructively. After carefully reviewing our client records, we were unable to locate any client or vehicle matching your name. Because we could not identify you in our system, our only option was to reach out to you through Yelp’s private messaging feature, which we did promptly after your review was posted; however, after waiting five days, we have not received a response. Without a vehicle present at our facility, it would not be possible for us to provide an exact quote to "fix your vehicle," and any pricing discussed over the phone can only be a general estimate based on limited information.

For the benefit of our Yelp community, it’s important to understand that telephone price inquiries often result in a wide range of estimates because each shop is working from incomplete information. Once a vehicle is properly inspected and diagnosed, pricing may change in either direction based on the actual condition and confirmed needs of the vehicle. We also encourage comparing services on an apples-to-apples basis. Our work is performed by highly trained, Certified Technicians, and is backed by an industry-leading 5-year/50,000-mile nationwide warranty on most repairs. Additionally, we regularly evaluate local market pricing to ensure we remain fair and competitive while delivering the quality, transparency, and professionalism our clients deserve.

Jay, if you did in fact interact with our team, we would sincerely welcome the opportunity to speak with you, learn more about your experience, and assist you directly. Our commitment remains to serve every client and our community with honesty, respect, and the highest standard of care.

I had brought in my 2016 Nissan Rogue SL for a front brake change. I had called and made an appointment and was a little late as I did not expect the traffic to be so heavy. From the time I arrived I was very impressed and thankful for the information they provided. I waited a reasonable time for them to complete the work and we were out the door. They informed me about the braking in of the pads and I appreciated that. I worked on tow tractors in the Navy before I became handicapped and found that there professionalism was very refreshing and appreciated as I did not receive that at prior auto repair facilities. After getting the car returned and was driving home it was like handling so much better. I thank them and for also while putting the car back together they had found other issues that should be looked at in the future. The quality of work and professionalism is outstanding and I would like to hope people will continue to bring their vehicles to this facility to get their work done. If you do please make sure you explain everything that happened during the operation of the vehicle (like what conditions, when and so on). Also explain any work you had tried to do personally so they can give you and accurate diagnosis of your vehicles issue or issues. I was fortunately referred by my son-in-law and daughter who were down here visiting my spouse and me as my spouse had a stroke the month before. They were from Washington State and this facility had fixed it famously. My son-in-law, daughter and grandkids all drove home with no issues and their vehicle is still running strong to this day. Thank you again Temecula Auto Repair and Transmission for not only taking care of me, but my daughter and family. You took care of my whole family. I can not Thank You enough. :) 5 stars are not enough to give this business. I wish I could give them more. :)

"Fair price for excellent service, never change." Welp. This place changed for the worst. Prices went up on 'labor' and since they won't accept customer supplied parts it's waaaaaay too expensive to get even simple stuff done. What used to cost 800$ now costs $2400 in the span of a year and a half. And they wouldn't deduct the 'inspection fee' from the 2400 so that would make the total cost 2600 if I went back. Don't go here. Find a mechanic that will take user-supplied parts
Reply from Temecula Auto Repair & Transmission 2025.10.22
Thank you for your feedback, Ms. Smith, and for your opening line, which is absolutely correct: we do take pride in providing excellent service at a fair price. That has never changed and remains the foundation of everything we do at Temecula Auto Repair & Transmission.

To anyone reading this review, we’d like to provide some context and clarity.
There are several important reasons why we do not accept client-supplied parts for any repair related to safety or the operation of the vehicle. When a shop installs outside parts, we cannot verify their quality, compatibility, or reliability, and doing so exposes both the client and the shop to significant risk. In addition, California law holds repair facilities legally liable for any failure of parts installed by them, even if those parts were supplied by someone else.

In Ms. Ann Smith’s case, about 18 months ago, we made an exception to this rule and installed a water pump she provided. Unfortunately, that water pump has since failed. Because it was a client-supplied part, there is no warranty coverage, meaning the repair has to be redone at her expense. Had this client agreed to use one of our quality parts back then, it would have now been covered under our 5-year/50,000-mile nationwide warranty, and she would not have to pay for the repair again.

To address the statement about pricing, our labor rate and pricing have not increased. Eighteen months ago, Ms. Smith paid $767.15 in labor for the water pump replacement - she supplied her own part at that time. On her most recent visit, we quoted the exact same labor amount (approximately $800) for water pump replacement, which is what she refers to in this review.

The claim that “what used to cost 800$ now costs $2,400” is inaccurate and misleading. The higher figure that we quoted this time includes much more extensive work than before. This most recent estimate included not only a new water pump, but also timing belt replacement and multiple oil leak repairs. Additionally, since we no longer install client-supplied parts, the cost of high-quality, warrantied components is now part of that total we quoted - not something the client sources and pays for separately.

Ms. Smith, we sincerely regret that your experience did not meet your expectations. Client satisfaction has always been and remains our top priority. Ironically, our policy of using only our own warrantied parts is intended to enhance customer satisfaction by ensuring reliability, protecting your investment, and backing it all with a 5-year/50,000-mile nationwide warranty that few shops in the industry can match. That warranty is only possible because we use high-quality parts that are proven to stand the test of time.

We wish you the best and hope this explanation helps others understand the care and high standards behind our policies.
