I see Takoyaki all the time in passing in McCalla and decided to stop in for some sushi. This place is on the smaller side and is cozy with limited seating. This place is not for you if you have a big party but easily seat a group of 2-6 people. They have sushi, hibachi, and unique Indonesian dishes as well. We tried the Rock N Roll and Alabama good. The Rock N Roll roll was a little on the flavorless side, and the Alabama roll was decent. I want to try some other dishes from this place. The staff was super friendly and nice.
Placed a take out order and the food was not good. Chicken teriyaki was tough, vegetables were under cooked. Every bite tasted like a $65 regret. Woke up this morning and chopped the chicken, sautéed the veggies and added the rice. The flavor was good. Chicken was still tough. I don’t think our food was made with love.
This place was so cold!!!!! They would not turn on the heat. When we got up to leave i looked at the thermostat and it was on 59 degrees. It was so cold you could see your breath in air. Recommend never going in the winter. To show the owner knew how cold it was she was wearing snow pants. We asked about the heat and she told us the heat was on and told us look at the thermostat. Food used to be amazing now it is just ok!!!
I've ordered from this restaurant quite a few times and I typically really enjoy their food, but the last two times I've been disappointed in the quality so I decided to call today. To note, I have only posted one other Google review in my 37 years and it was a positive review, but I was really disappointed in the response from the manager and felt a review was necessary, in hopes they'll improve. When I first started to explain over the phone my concerns, the gentleman hung up on me (possibly a mistake) so I called back and he gave me the manager. Once she verified what I ordered I started by saying, the appetizer was delicious! But the roll wasn't cooked, it was doughy and it was supposed to be tempura, and the avocado was brown. Since I ordered it through DoorDash, after I voiced my concern the manager's response was not, I'm sorry, it was, "You'll have to talk to door dash". And I let her know that I was calling the restaurant directly because they made the food, not door dash, so I thought they'd want to know. Her response? "We've never had any complaints about our food". I wasn't looking for a refund or for them to offer me forever unlimited meals with diamonds-I never asked for anything. I called to let the manager know I was calling to tell them what I'd received and her immediate instinct was to be defensive. Having a bad meal go out once in awhile is understandable, but how you treat customers defines your business.
