Simon and his team were excellent, hard workers and very polite and friendly. They put my mind at ease and I felt like I was in good hands. I was happy to have them in the house and can't praise them highly enough. The work was completed quickly and efficiently with minimal disruption to the rest of the house. The area being worked on was sealed off with plastic to orevent dust and debris spreading. I would highly recommend Simon to anyone having damp or rot issues.

SMPS tackled a complicated case of dry rot in my flat and the building. They cleared out the decay in no time and restored the old tenement features. Unlike other contractors, they diagnosed the problem without asking you to shell out hundreds of pounds for a survey. When onsite, the team were polite and aware of the stress this type of work entails for owners. When the work was done they left the flat very clean. Communication was straightforward with SMPS - they get through the work quickly and effectively.

A little while ago, we discovered that we had dry rot in our house. We were totally devastated and we thought that our house was going to fall down. We had no idea if the dry rot could be dealt with or not, nor how much it would be… We contacted three dry rot specialists. The first said that the job was too big for him. The second was Simon from SMPS. He looked at the dry rot and his first comment was that he had seen far worse and that he had no doubt that he could deal with our problem. His confidence and manner made us feel much better. He told us that he would let us have a price for the work over the next couple of days. The third looked at the dry rot and said that it was bad but again told us that it was treatable. He immediately gave us an estimated price making an assumption that further work would be required to ascertain the extent of the problem. A couple of days later, Simon came to our house again to discuss the work required. He stated a price to do the initial work but did say that the price could well rise as the extent of the damage became apparent. Simon’s price was quite a bit less than the other quote/estimate and we decided to go with SMPS. The main reason was not totally due to cost but mainly due to his demeanour and confidence. He showed us photographs of his previous work (which was uncannily similar to our problem) and reassured us that he would deal with the dry rot for us. We agreed a date for SMPS to start the work. Simon, Andy and Logan turned up exactly when he said that they would and they immediately went to work. After our period of despair, it was great to see professionals dealing with a problem that did not faze them at all. As anticipated, the initial work revealed that the dry rot had progressed further into the building. Simon kept us updated throughout and when he told us that he had found that the dry rot had progressed, he was almost apologetic BUT again he stated that it was not a great problem and even reassured us that it would not greatly increase his original estimate. The three of them worked tirelessly over a number of days. Throughout, they were courteous and showed great respect for our home. They were meticulous in the way that they worked and Simon provided me with photos all of the time. For a job that naturally created A LOT of dust and debris, the team managed to contain it in the one room and there was very little disruption to the rest of the house. The quality of their work has been superb and I am now confident that they have eradicated the dry rot. What has been really impressive is the fact that Simon has contacted us since doing the work to see that everything is OK which is certainly great customer service. The work has cost a lot of money, but SMPS have still worked out cheaper than the other quotations. I would thoroughly recommend Simon and SMPS for their manner, professionalism and value for money.

Had Simon come out to assess a bit of dampness in livingroom. He was very thorough and explained exactly the issue and how they would treat the issue. Communication was excellent from start to finish and the work was carried out very efficiently by himself, Andy & Logan, tidying up as they went along. Simon also organised the plasterer to come in 2 days later to plaster the wall. This was also done to a very high standard. Would definitely recommend SMPS Building Preservation to anyone having Damp or Dry Rot problems etc.

Had Simon and his team in doin some work , it turned out the jobs was bigger than first anticipated due to previous work by someone else , Simon kept informed of what needed done and also what he was doing step by step , team where pleasant, friendly , tidy and just got in with the job … We defo would recommend them and wouldnt hesitate to use them agai ( no offence Simon but I hope I never you again 😂 just waiting on plasterer then decorator

We would highly recommend SMPS to anyone who needs building preservation work. Simon and his team were really helpful and honest throughout their work in our house, which was particularly reassuring as we discovered more work was needed than we initially thought. The team’s work was of a really high standard and, despite the rain, they kept the house clean and tidy whenever they left.

We contacted SMPS looking for an urgent survey to allow us to have flooring fitted. Rotten joists were found but repaired the same day, allowing us to carry on with replacing the flooring. It was a fantastic service and the work was carried out to a very high standard. We would highly recommend SMPS

Absolutely first class! Simon managed the entire job himself coordinating other trades quickly and communicating with me at every step. He's clearly an expert on damp & rot which was reassuring. Simon came back out after a job a few years ago and did not shy away from taking ownership. Was very impressed and thankful that he was taking full ownership. Issue was unrelated to his work, but still very happy that he turned up and was willing to help and take ownership. That is very rare to have companies like this own up.
