I have been going here since they opened. I had a less than ideal experience today. Took 30 minutes for appetizers which was okay. However, it took an additional 45 minutes for our entrees to arrive. It was brunch. Eggs ect. When it finally did arrive my French toast was ice cold. The butter did’t even melt! The server apparently new because when I told her she immediately said” I am going to take this off your bill and I know you don’t want anything else because this took so long ! “ and then she proceeded to walk away. So I sat there with no food. When you pay over $150 for breakfast you want it hot. Also, I have been there when it was more crowded and received much better service. It seems like the quality of food and the service is going down.
The salads were amazing. I highly recommend the crispy artichokes. The bouillabaisse had sand/grit from the mussels and the snapper still had tiny bones in it. The steak in the steak frites was kind of tough, but was still flavorful. I would come again and get all the greens but would prob get a sandwhich or a burger as an entree instead next time.
Service was horrible. Took 20 minutes to get water refill and only after we asked another worker for it.
My wife had an appetizer and the bread was soggy.
Our server Willy was overly attentive to another table and was ignoring our table of 6. The entrees were good but one person had asked for a burger cooked medium and it was well done. Sent it back with manager and a new burger was prepared but was still over cooked. She ate it because she was hungry.
After two of us complained, the manager took the burger off the bill and gave us free desert.
It was not a very good experience tonight.
And a little over priced as our bill was still almost $500.
Very disappointing.
Took us 45 minutes to get our appetizer - and they brought the wrong one… 90 minutes to get our mains - our waiter could not have cared less about us and didn’t even come back to see if we wanted more drinks once our food finally came. The food was fine - nothing spectacular. Took another hour to flag him down and get the check…Lunch shouldn’t take three hours. Not worth it - go elsewhere
I’ve had a couple of dishes from Small Batch. What I will tell you is I would come here any time just for the Half Dozen Char-grilled east coast oysters, which are some of the best I’ve had over these past 5 years of being an Oyster eater and connoisseur (😂).
Small Batch is a very nice place to go and catch a small meal and connect with friends, family, or a date. I’ve also order the steak frites which were also excellent, but didn’t take a pic.
BTW - They make a helluva good Old Fashioned. 😉
What a wonderful establishment. Ambiance is beautiful, servers are kind and prompt. The manager is an absolute gem. My colleague and I frequent this place as its very close to our job. We had misordered an entree that I believed to be vegetarian but was not (the spicy grilled cheese). The wonderful manager quickly and swiftly swapped it with a to-go order (as we were in a rush back to work) that was vegetarian and I could not be more pleased with how intuitive and quick-to-action he was. This is an absolute must in my lunch spot rotation.
I usually don’t give any reviews that are critical, but I have to, for the better of their restaurant. Firstly, I ordered 2 starters, the Crispy Artichoke and the Caramelized onion dip. The crispy artichoke was borderline salty and was almost as if they soaked the artichoke in lemon. It was so salty till the point I have to drink water with ever bite. The caramelized onion dip is as alright. The dip was a bit too bland and the caramelized onions just tasted like sweated onions. The potato chips were also so thin that I could see my finger from the other side and was basically undippable. For the entrees, I ordered the broccoli pesto rigatoni and eggs Benedict. The broccoli pesto rigatoni was bland and it looked like baby food. The “pesto” tasted like boiled broccoli and pepper, the portion size was small, and the pasta was borderline edible. The only good thing I can say about the eggs Benedict was the egg. The sauce was way too thin and their “ham” looked more like roast beef. Overall I would never come back or recommend this to anyone.
