There are better Long Haul options Economy Class certainly lives up to its title, its just as crowded as the budget airlines maybe even more so sat in the middle of the rows. On long haul flights even in economy you would expect a bit more room than the budget planes. Food and a cushion and blanket are included. There are snacks available if you are in the know because they do not announce the fact. The plane we had on the outward journey was quite tatty, the attendants are sometimes difficult to understand and hear and there is the problem of the passenger in front fully reclining from the off, not a comfortable long journey

Seat Drama, Divider Rebellion…Still a Perfect Flight. And I Suspect There Were Two Veronicas Onboard! After a fantastic outbound on SQ222, expectations were already sky-high for my return on SQ231. & somehow, Singapore Airlines still managed to soar above them. As a seasoned traveller, flying the A380 Suites is never just a flight, it’s an event. And as always, the experience began well before boarding. From the First Class check-in lounge at Changi T3 (which feels more like arriving at a luxury hotel than an airport), to the seamless passport handling & dedicated immigration lane, everything ran with signature SQ efficiency. Within minutes, I found myself back in the calm sanctuary of The Private Room, hardly a bad way to wait for a flight. Onboard, the magic continued. What stood out most wasn’t just the luxury, but the pace. No rushed service, no “tick-the-box” routines, just an intuitive, almost zen-like flow. It genuinely felt like the crew could read the room (and my mood) before making their move. Veronica, in particular, was a delight, graceful, composed, & wonderfully unhurried. At one point I genuinely wondered if there was a second Veronica hidden behind the curtains doing all the work, because somehow everything got done flawlessly despite her serene pace! Of course, no flight is complete without a little drama. My seat decided it didn’t want to swivel, fair enough, we all have those days. But Veronica’s quiet determination paid off, & after some persistence, it was back in action. Later, when converting the empty suite next door (thanks to the vacant 2F) into a double bed, the divider also staged a brief protest… but once again, teamwork prevailed. Watching the crew rally together to fix things was actually quite impressive, like a well-rehearsed (& very polite) pit crew. Jamie, leading the team, struck the perfect balance of warmth and professionalism. Yazid, a man of few words, was the definition of a quiet achiever, always present when needed. And Fronda? Part service expert, part mind reader. I’m still convinced she knew what I wanted before I did. Meal service was seamless, timing impeccable, clearly designed for maximum rest on an overnight flight (a rare & appreciated skill). If there’s one takeaway from this journey: never underestimate quiet grace. Behind that calm elegance was a team that delivered, problem-solved, & exceeded expectations at every turn. Advertisement vs reality: long disruption, poor rest, missed connections, and “sorry but no” on costs I picked Singapore Airlines because I had a critical business meeting and needed a “trusted” airline. I learned the hard way that the brand image doesn’t match the reality. SQ185 (SGN→SIN) on 9 Feb 2026 was delayed due to a technical problem (SIA later said an aircraft fault was detected in pre-flight checks). That delay caused me to miss my London connection (SQ306) even with ~2.5 hours planned between flights. I was stuck for ~12 hours, sent to a hotel ~30 minutes away, and got ~3 hours sleep before returning to the airport. I then arrived late in London and missed my train. Afterwards it was the usual “we’re sorry” message, but no real accountability: no reimbursement for the actual downstream costs, and no practical resolution beyond generic policy lines. All claims and evidence are documented. If timing matters to you, don’t fall for the “premium airline” advertisement trap.

Excellent We were caught in traffic and arrived late for check-in (50 minutes before departure). It was a long-haul journey from KLIA to Singapore, then on to Frankfurt and Düsseldorf. We’re so grateful for the swift action of Juwinikah, who helped us sort out our check-in and even went the extra mile when we left our jacket behind. She’s sharp, kind—truly an angel and a testament to SIA’s service. Thank you, Juwi!!
