My Unfortunate Experience Very unsatisfactory this far . Been dealing with Kingsley Read. A person with many excuses and certainly does not pay attention to detail. Decided to save a little money by using a "shared" container. My vehicle was collected two weeks later than originally discussed because was told the other vehicle I was sharing with wasn't ready for pick up. Perhaps was the first flag. Nevertheless, bought the excuse. It took another several weeks to get it onto the ship for exporting. Again, never have done this so just had to have patience ! Finally, underway and on its journey from the UK to the US. Tracked the ship the whole time with excitement. About a week prior to its arrival, I decided to make a call to the US agent. Thank goodness I did. They had no record of my shipment. Apparently, it was an over site on ShipmyCar's behalf. I submitted everything that needed to get done so there would be no delays and or further complications. The ship arrives in Los Angeles , CA last Saturday. I reached out to the US Agent once again and was informed the "shared" vehicle did not have all its required paperwork that apparently would effect me picking up my vehicle once it cleared customs if it wasn't rectified. Today, I was informed my vehicle had cleared customs and the shared car still didn't have it's proper paperwork in order due to the fact they haven't been able to get in touch with the new owner. Consequently, my car sits at the port waiting. I reached out to Kingsley who this far has made more excuses claiming they did their part. He went on to block my emails. Absolutely horrible! DO NOT USE!!! And certainly, be aware of "sharing" being that you are attached to the mercy of another. More to report as the days move on. Hopefully, they will do the right thing.

I will not go into issues I had with certain staff at the company which made the move of my beloved car from Cape Town to the UK quite stressful and at times very frustrating - I will stay with the positive and give the three people who restored my faith in the whole process their just dues, hence the 5 stars. To Nick, Ben and Michael, thank you will never be enough. You know why my little car means so much to me and seeing it again after so long was very emotional for me. I am blown away by how kind and understanding you were at my initial reaction upon seeing my car, which now gives me my freedom and independence back, as I had in RSA. Thank you, merci, grazie, dankie, ke a leboha, enkosi! 🤗🇿🇦🇮🇹🇨🇭🇬🇧

Since I couldn't give 4.5 stars - 5 stars it is... I had an Audi Q5 shipped from South Africa to UK, quoted time frame was 12 weeks from collection, it was ready exactly 15 weeks later - no fault of SMC with DVLA taking more time than they had quoted to actually register the car and shipping delays out of SA. The whole process was fairly smooth and effortless, initially quoted for RoRo, but since those where no available it was containerised. This seemed counterintuitive to me as I was based in the port city that the vehicle would eventually leave from, but needed to be packed in JHB some 600km away. The hassle was all taken care of, my car was fetched from my door, stored, packed, photo's sent, and then I could track it online all the way to London. Only reason I would give half a star less is that there was a long period of communication silence between car being collected and it being shipped - I needed to chase regularly and ended up staying in touch with the South African export agent for updates. Every time I dropped an email or called the office I got a response almost instantly, and getting my car back in the UK was definitely a pleasure!

A very professional company. Our car was shipped from Hk to UK and it was arrived here perfectly. The price is reasonable. Their customer service are very responsive (reply mail within 1 hour and just wait ~1-2 mins via hotline). We are not sure the under seal situation and arrange the option purchase. They found our car conditions very good and refund the option. All other service options are well delivered and like a new car. Highly recommend! Cheers

Thanks to clear my car / ship my car for sorting out the NOVA documents (clearing customs) with the HMRC which allows the V55 registration to be completed by the DVLA. I was fortunate that the advised 10 day process was resolved in 2 days. This was the first car I have imported and they really helped me through the process. Great job, many thanks.

Communication is poor and attitude is apathetic. I had to chase for updates. I paid in April and asked for a Aug/Sep shipping date. I emphasised that this was important as I was leaving Hong Kong. Following up prior to August and September, I was unable to obtain any indication for a shipping date. As September came around, no proactive communications and after chasing I was given the option of storing may car with a maybe end September shipping date. I decided with this uncertainty to cancel my booking at the start of September. Now in October I am still waiting for a refund. More frustrating, in email exchanges I was asked if my account accepted GBP and even after confirming yes, I was told the funds had been transferred in HKD. Kingsley who took my call was disinterested and passive aggressive, saying the transfer had been done in HKD and there was nothing they could do about it. Kingsley went as far as to say because it was a HK account, they thought it would only accept HKD. Even made an excuse that the email was one line to confirm the account would "Yes." accept GBP. All the more ironic as they had asked if I could receive GBP and for a business that ships cars internationally, they must deal with accounts all over the world. No accountability taken for the mistake, even went as far to blame their brokers for the additional delay, since the 28th September, when Nick confirmed the transfer had been done. Furthermore, I've no idea or details on what work they did, I know I did administration, I posted needed documents and updates to their portal but 200 GBP was deducted for administration with a rejection to offset due to the delay in refunding or their mistake in transferring HKD. The only response from Kingsley was, "It's in the contract". Can't argue with that but does nothing for accountability. 12 Oct 2022 After some back and forth over the transfer of GBP and exchange rates, Nick agreed to transfer the difference caused by sending HKD instead of GBP. I'm happy to say that the difference in GBP has arrived in my account as GBP and not converted to HKD. I believe Nick and Kingsley are genuine and under pressure as many companies are with the prevailing supply chain challenges and economic situation. Communications can get missed and go awry at any time. My recommendation is verify and confirm to avoid misalignment. While my details remain correct, it seems the advice and decision to transfer in HKD, while well intended, caused a sizeable deficit in the refund for me. It is commendable that SMC agreed to make up the difference. They came through in the end with a genuine response to the currency issue. The portal experience was smooth. For a first time car shipper, a little more handholding or an initial introduction to what to expect would be good.

Unfortunately the situation out of Hong Kong for RoRo bookings has deteriorated throughout the year with shipping lines constantly pushing back bookings without notice until finally suspending all services to the UK. We relayed information obtained as we had it as much as possible but I apologise if this was not enough.

I will start with the positives (my only reason for 2 stars rather than 1)- Shipmycar was quick to sort out customs clearance of my car and the NOVA process. However, from the day I accepted their quote to the day I had my vehicle collected, it has not been a positive experience. I completely understand the difficulties faced by shipping agents at present given the pandemic, but one would think that during these times, communication would be more important than ever. The directors (Nick & Kingsley) seem completely disinterested in the customer, and come across as quite passive aggressive. Each update had to be prompted and chased, with consistent generic responses such as "Will update/confirm ASAP". To me, this indicates they simply didn't know where the car was at a give point in time before the car was loaded in Australia, and also when it arrived in the UK. I ended up communicating with the Australian shipping agent directly, and then phoning the UK port to find out further information (to the director's disapproval). Overall, a very disappointing experience, and I'm sure any response from the directors will be defensive, claiming that I was a difficult customer... but I would urge potential customers to check some of the reviews on Trustpilot too before committing to their services.

I am more than happy to have found ShipMyCar to help me with the process of the registration of my car in UK. Without your help I would be still blocked on the burocracy. You gave me an accurate view of the process ahead and you resolve fast the issue DVLA gives at first with the taxes, if I would do the process by myself I would be still waiting and waiting without any success.
