Took a discovery flight w/ Jack from Savannah Aviation and he was great! Very personable and knowledgable. I gained a lot of education while having a great day. You could tell he knew his craft and he was a proficient teacher. I wish they had a Sport Pilot course but the flight was still well worth it. If you want to get your PPL Jack is a great instructor!

Despite being a larger school they give a very small family feel and warm welcomes. The CFIs I have personally spoken to are very experienced and happy to speak and educate whether you're their student or not.
They have a nice variety in their fleet and appears to have an array of avionics. Looking forward to continuing my training there!

Savannah Aviation has some of the worst customer service I’ve experienced. When I called ahead, they told me a military medical would be accepted. But when I showed up, they suddenly said it wasn’t valid—even though it clearly states Class 2—and insisted I needed an FAA physical instead. That kind of bait-and-switch is incredibly frustrating and a waste of time.
On top of that, they require $1 million in insurance, which is outrageous compared to most places. Between the misleading information and the excessive requirements, this place is not worth the hassle. Buyer beware—avoid at all costs.

Our team follows established operational policies regarding medical certification and aircraft rental requirements. Regarding the $1M liability coverage requirement, this policy is designed primarily to protect the renter or student. Aircraft operating around our airport, and at most major airports, can be extremely valuable, and even relatively minor incidents can result in significant damage costs. Requiring renters to carry liability coverage helps ensure that pilots are financially protected from the possibility of a major personal financial setback in the unlikely event of an accident or incident.

I’m training to become a CFI and needed to get my spin flight done. Being a bigger guy at my current school I was over weight for spin training. When reaching out to Savannah Aviation they worked with me to find the right instructor and aircraft. Ben (the instructor) was amazing from start to finish. Great communication and piloting skills. Hands down one of the best CFI’s I have worked with. Even though the weather wasn’t cooperating we were able to get this mission done. Mike which works at the front desk handing all other operations treated me with the greatest hospitality and respect. The maintenance department and staff at Savannah Aviation went above and beyond to take care of myself and another pilot who diverted to KSAV with engine issues in a PA46 Malibu. The team are top-notch: they kept us in the loop every step of the way and made sure we were well cared for before sending us on our way. My experience with Savannah Aviation began positively but ended in a way that raised serious concerns about fairness, consistency, and how personal beliefs or background may factor into decision-making.
After my original instructor left for the airlines, I completed one flight with a newly assigned instructor. Shortly after, I was called into a meeting regarding a school policy that had never been communicated to me verbally, in writing, or via posted signage. That meeting concluded with a clear understanding that the issue was a misunderstanding and that I was approved to continue training.
Several months later, while I was overseas, I was informed that I would no longer be allowed to train — not due to any new incident, but based on statements and concerns that were never formally presented to me, documented, or discussed with me directly.
When I returned and attempted to seek clarification, I was told that an instructor was “not comfortable” with my presence based on information unrelated to my performance, conduct, or training record. No written findings, formal warnings, or structured review process were provided.
Flight training requires trust, objectivity, and equal treatment. In my experience, decisions affecting my training were made without transparency, due process, or clear standards.
I strongly encourage prospective students to obtain all policies in writing, understand dismissal procedures in advance, and carefully consider how subjective concerns are handled before enrolling.
Based on my experience, prospective students should be cautious when enrolling, as training may be discontinued without advance warning, potentially resulting in the loss of significant time, money, and effort invested.

Thank you for the response. I understand you can’t discuss individual student matters publicly, but that’s also the main issue I experienced — major decisions were made and communicated to me without transparency, clear documentation, or a structured review process that I could respond to.
To be clear, I’m not claiming anyone owed me special treatment. I’m saying the standards and process were not handled in a way that felt consistent, objective, or clearly explained. I was approved to continue after the initial meeting, and later I was removed while I was overseas without any new incident or direct conversation beforehand.
I’m leaving this review so future students protect themselves by getting every policy in writing, asking exactly what “discontinuation” looks like, and making sure they understand how concerns are documented and reviewed before investing large amounts of time and money.

In my experience, Savannah Aviation ended my training without warning or clear communication. I was never told of any “additional concerns,” never given written notice, never cited a specific policy violation, and never given a chance to respond or correct anything before my training was discontinued.
There was one meeting about a policy that had not been previously communicated to me. After that meeting, I was told I could continue training.
Savannah Aviation now references internal reviews and cumulative concerns that were never communicated to me while I was an active, paying student, leaving me no opportunity to address or understand them.
After speaking with the owner on the 21st, I was told training was off the table but that aircraft rental might be possible and that I would receive a call the next day. I called and texted and received no response. Instead, an updated reply was posted to my Google review.
Prospective students should get all policies and review processes in writing before enrolling.

So far during my Private pilot license training, I have had an incredible experience with Savannah Aviation. The school is professional, welcoming, and run with a clear passion for aviation. Their fleet of aircraft is always well-maintained, reliable, and a pleasure to fly, which gives me confidence every time I step into the cockpit.
A special thank you to my instructor, Grant O., (among other great instructors) who has been phenomenal throughout my training. Grant is patient, knowledgeable, and always makes safety and learning a priority. He has a real gift for breaking down complex concepts in a way that’s easy to understand, while also challenging me to grow as a pilot. His encouragement and attention to detail have made every lesson both productive and enjoyable.

Courteous! Friendly! Professional! Great to work with! If I could give these people 10 stars I would! I was interested in purchasing a certificate as a birthday gift for my son, a former Crew Chief for the C-17. The Discovery Flight looked interesting so I called them for more information. I initially spoke to Lexi. She was so sweet and helpful. I ended up calling her back for more info. She was patient and kind, answering every question I had. When I was ready to make the purchase, I called them again and spoke to Kate. She went out of her way to customize the gift certificate with my son's name and sent a draft for approval. She also helped me select a model airplane as part of the birthday surprise as well as a t-shirt from their shop. The entire experience with Savannah Aviation was smooth and over the top! They really go out of their way to help you! After all was said and done, I felt they became a part of the birthday celebration for our family and helped to make it THE best! I spent the night in SAV while doing some commercial timebuilding and when starting up my plane to fly back home I found my electric fuel pump was inop. I called up Savannah Aviation and even though they were about to close, they told me to taxi over so they could take a look. Their mechanics found that I needed a new fuel pump, had one shipped overnight, and my plane was fixed and ready to go by 1pm the next day. Yesterday on my way back from North Carolina I had a maintenance issue that required me to land at Savannah . I immediately taxied my plane over to Savannah aviation who was more than willing to take a look at it and troubleshoot. Within 30 minutes they identified the issue and began to make the Corrective measures needed. Words cannot express how fantastic the service was at this maintenance facility. Everyone from the mechanics all the way through to the front desk, where the most hospitable people I’ve ever met in a maintenance facility! I felt welcomed with lots of smiles and handshakes. I am forever indebted to their quick response and allowing me to continue my journey in a short amount of time, and I got home safely with a smooth, running aircraft.
