This Michelin star restaurant is worth while trying once when you are in Paris!

If I could only eat at one restaurant again for the rest of my life, this would be the one. We first discovered it on a trip to Paris on December 23, 2015, right before Christmas, and when we walked out, we declared it the best meal we had ever eaten. After our second course was served, a group of four people walked in and we later learned among them was the head of Michelin dining guide. The restaurant is very intimate with less than a dozen tables and a glass-enclosed kitchen. What made the experience so remarkable is that the head maitre’d knew that service had dropped for us after the Michelin group arrived and came not long afterwards to our table to offer his sincere apologies for that. For us, each morsel of food we tasted was better than the next. We couldn’t believe how lucky we had been to get a last-minute reservation at a such a high-caliber restaurant when many places were closed for the holidays, except in more touristy areas. As we left, I told the maitre’d that a Michelin star would be next for them. And it was. We returned in July 2023 and to our delight, the same maitre’d treated us and when I mentioned we had dined there years ago when the Michelin group was there, he immediately went to the back and pull out a handwritten reservation book and there was my name with what I had ordered on my first visit. We know we are immensely fortunate to have dined not once but twice at this one-of-a-kind restaurant. Alliance is the standard bearer of elegant but unpretentious dining where delivering a culinary experience is more than just the food on the plate - you feel welcomed and among friends.

Très agréable moment passé à la table du duo Toshitaka Omiya / Shawn Joyeux. Merci pour cette cuisine créative et précise, ces accords mets et vins réussis et ces échanges qui nous laisseront de beaux souvenirs. Particulièrement impressionné par l’association raidon / tourteau (en photo). Côté vin, j’ai été particulièrement séduit par le Vézelay blanc « Le Clos » du domaine Sainte Madeleine et le vieux pineau des Charentes. Merci!

A superb tasting menu. Do go for the most complete and expensive option as it included two courses of lobster. The wine pairing was original with very generous pours. Very warm service and comfortable if austere decor. My only disappointment was that the meat course was chicken done rather subtly. Chicken seems to be the dish of the season in finer restaurants in Paris, but even in the hands of skilled chefs is just not that exciting for me.

Honestly the best service and the best food I’ve ever had, and I’ve been to many 3 star Michelin restaurants. The chef and his partner at the front of house are so totally in sync and have such an inviting attitude about the amazing/innovative food. This is an absolute MUST for any serious foodie visiting Paris. Also they’re awesome with vegetarians.

QUALITY of the FOOD ATTITUDES of the STAFF RESPONSIBILITY of HANDLING SITUATIONS We had lunch on 5/8/2024 with 4 courses set, and the waiter explained that will be 2 starters, 1 main course and 1 dessert. Everything was great until the main course came which was a filet fish. I cut the first piece and ate, and when I tried to cut the second piece, I found out there was something like parasitic WORM with PINK/TRANSPARENT color INSIDE the fish (if you Google pink parasite in sashimi, basically it’s what it looks like). I was shocked and terrified so I called the waiter and asked him what is this. He kept saying I don’t know and came back forth between us and kitchen. About a minute he came back and said he need to check it with chef and took the whole dish right away. After 10 mins manager came and explained said it was kind of “SEAWEED BUT CANNOT BE EATEAN, and everything else is good and fresh”. We confirmed multiple times with the manager that it didn’t look like SEAWEED at all, but the manager kept on saying yes, it’s SEAWEED. I asked him if it was seaweed, it was supposed to be something like garnish be on top or side of the fish, but we saw it right INSIDE the fish INSIDE the meat when we cut it open it. Do you really put garnish inside meat? I asked him did you really see the fish and how it looked like? The manager said all the members in the kitchen checked and saw it but he himself did not. I was like “IF YOU DID NOT SEE IT AT ALL, HOW CAN YOU BE SO SURE IT WAS NOT A WORM? And WHY YOU TOLD ME CONFIDENTLY EVERYONE HAD CHECKED IT WHILE YOU DID NOT CHECK IT AT ALL? The manager wanted to make a new one for me, but I refused, I felt so uncomfortable and told the waiter I do not want any fish, also asked him to take away my partner’s fish. Later on they changed the lobster to us and there was another courses lamb came after that. We asked another waiter we only ordered 4 courses why did we get extra courses and dessert. He said HE KNEW we only ordered 4 courses and HE KEEP BLANKING EYES to us with a cunning smile and SAID IT’S FOR YOU. It’s so obvious that they they just wanted to give us some extra dish to send us away, brush us off and not letting us from telling the truth. However, there was no any explanation AT ALL about those extra dishes when they gave us and we were so confused. In the end, the chef came out with manager. They still claimed that that is not parasite. We explained we appreciated extra dishes but still we were still confused the whole situation here. IT’S RIDICULOUS. They were just hoping to compensate us with some extra food WITHOUT ANY EXPLANATION. The worst part is the manager came out and translated insisted that it was seaweed not a worm. But come on, why don’t you bring that garnish seaweed from kitchen and show us if that was really a seaweed? And we also said we were confused the extra food he said that’s because you said you don’t want the fish so we changed to lobster for you with extra dishes, wasn’t that perfect for you? So we should just take those extra dishes and accepting all those arrogant attitude? This is really not appropriate as a Michelin one star restaurant should be. I leave this review because we paid expensive price and expect the high quality food and reliable service. I would said I don’t recommend this restaurant, it’s overrated and they need the reevaluate the food quality and re train the employees especially the manager’s attitude. Most importantly, the way they respond to the situation. His attitude was getting worse when we had the conversation in the end. It’s fine if there was a mistake during the food preparation, and I believe no one wants to see that happen. However, if it does happen, you should at least show your sincere apology and be responsible for an valid explanation. We weren’t trying to be a difficult customer. We talked privately and kept the voice down in the restaurant just tried not to create any extra trouble for them in front of other customers. However, their response was just not acceptable at an high end restaurant.

A wonderful overall experience. The food was absolutely incredible. The use of seasonal ingredients was extraordinary. Peas and strawberries together? Who knew? I can’t say enough about the wonderful staff. I appreciated that everything was inventive and delicious and the front of house staff members were very kind and hospitable. We joked about Burger King and out came tiny onion rings! A marvelous evening.

Wow wow wow, what a fabulous place. This was my third visit, and each time the food has been elegant and intriguing, the service light hearted yet perfect, and the setting soothing, almost zen-like. I could not recommend the restaurant more strongly. It is worth a special trip to seek out.

Great great restaurant This is a destination restaurant, one very much worth the effort to go out of your way for. The setting is serene, the front of the room service is light hearted, attentive, well informed, and generally as close to perfect as it gets. The food is sublime. This was my third time at this restaurant, and never a misstep. Every course, every time, is perfect. It is (only) a one Michelin starred restaurant, but it is easily a two star quality place at one star prices. Also, do not hesitate to take Shawn’s advice on wine. He may make an unconventional recommendation, but it would be a mistake to not do as he suggests.
