The food was excellent, we had 6 dishes between two of us (followed by an incredible cheesecake!) and each one was amazing, wonderful flavours and plenty of choice. The atmosphere was lovely, a contemporary vibe in a rustic setting, perfect for our city break. The service was outstanding, we felt so welcomed and not at all rushed even though the restaurant was busy with a continued stream of guests arriving. Would highly recommend, an absolute must for anyone visiting the city, this trip is for my mums 60th birthday and this meal really made our weekend special, thank you!

Without any doubt in my top three of favorite restaurants. The fish is simply amazing (never had such a tasty tartare and ceviche) and the desserts are beyond any expectation (try Crema catalana, then you thank them (and me for suggesting)). All is served with excellent Spanish wines. Do yourselves a favor: book a dinner at them!

I visited Rao when visiting Barcelona with my husband for my 30th birthday and this place did not disappoint! If you are looking for a tapas place in the centre of Barcelona then Rao is a must! This place is absolutely incredible, the food is so tasty and presentation is excellent, the dishes are all very inventive with lots of unique flavours. My favourite dish was the crispy sea bream served with grilled avocado, romesco sauce with a garlic aioli foam! Jason looked after us on the night, making sure we had everything we needed and we were happy with all the dishes. Next time I visit Barcelona I will be going back to Rao!

While in Barcelona we visited Rao twice!
Our first visit, with no reservation, Jason so very graciously carved out space in the completely booked restaurant for us. He treated us like royalty instead of unprepared jet lagged tourists. HINT: DO make a reservation!
The English speaking staff were great at explaining the menu and suggesting pairings. We chose the Ceviche Rao, Cristal Bread, and Pan-Seared Scallops. We were not disappointed! Our second visit we added the Entrecote Steak and for dessert, the Chocolate & Caramel with Salt. Perfection in every way.
The combination of superb cuisine, excellent staff and perfect "vibe" make this a destination experience not to be missed!
This lovely little Rao is on a level with the best world class restaurants! Barcelona and Rao will see us again!
