Lovely venue . Even though the menu said "light lunch " £15 - the servings were very small ( I had crab tart which was about 7cm in diameter) i left feeling hungry. My friend had Risotto Milanese, roasted veg and spinach I don't remember seeing the spinach but she said the lunch was pretty bland and again the serving was very, very small. definitely not worth £15 . I am afraid the saffron was not visually evident in the cream colour of the dish, ( not even pale yellow) i did not taste so i cant comment on whether the saffron was evident to taste. .
We have visited several restaurant/Inns locally seeking Sunday lunch’s. Some disappointing, some expensive for what was served up. The Peppermill was not only the best Sunday lunch we have had, it was also similarly priced to other local establishments. There were three of us dining, having the roast Pork, Beef, and Turkey. All were excellent served up with a generous helping and variety of vegetables and condiments.
The bottomless brunch service was great and waitress was extremely attentive. The choice of food for the brunch was poor and we ordered 4 burgers which were poor quality and the chips were also below what we would expect from a 5 star establishment. Not impressed with the quality of food at all, was edible and we were hungry so we ate it but wouldn’t recommend.
Came here for a second time as we really loved it the first time. Unfortunately we felt it wasn’t quite so good, my pork starter was lovely but my husbands leek and cheese pie was so small, it felt very poor value and nothing special. Our mains of chicken were ok, but needed more sauce and seasoning and was a bit bland. The chicken was well cooked though and I liked the bon bon. We felt the service could have been better, the waiter forgot to bring our wine and we had to ask for it after getting our food. No one came to check all was fine with the food. Maybe lunch times are bit different to the food in the evenings. Felt a little disappointed as we were so pleased to be returning for my husbands birthday.
