beautiful situation and hotel and the views are gorgeous
just returned from our two night stay here- couldn't have wished for a better location or hotel and fabulous, friendly, helpful staff - and the food was top notch and delicious. The hotel itself is a beautiful building, with views to die for and full of character and finished and furnished as tastefully as the building itself. We managed to have our stay just before it closes in response to COVID - very sad as it looked so lovely with its christmas decorations - just glad we got there this weekend to enjoy - our stay here. thanks you so much and we will be back x
Best in the area.
Having been sporadically coming to the Penrallt for the last 10 years this last occasion with its new owners and refurbishment it has now achieved its potential.
Gloriously and tastefully revamped its a gem of place to escape to.
As dog owners we sampled the Garden rooms, spacious and comfortable, the grounds excellent for ‘walkies’. Sumptuous grand lounge with log fire a bonus and the cuisine fulfilled expectations. We shall of be returning to this delightful place with its bay views again and again hopefully.

Great comfortable Stay
Excellent food in the Bay View Restaurant, clean comfortable spacious homely rooms, Friendly staff and an amazing country location with some of the best views I have seen. There was good choice for breakfast which was served in the lovely conservatory overlooking the sea.
great hotel and service
Booked for one night, but decided to stay and extra night. Lovely setting, The Snowden room was great, with lovely views from the balcony. Food was excellent, especially the cod from Gower and good value. Reception staff- Gillian and Heather were very helpful and informative and restaurant service on our 1st night, plus room service on both days were first class. Will definately visit again- when Covid permits.
Beautiful hotel in a stunning location
We loved our stay here in spite of Covid restrictions. In fact I would say it's the perfect place to stay during a pandemic! The hotel has been renovated to a high standard and is very spacious and well maintained. We had a lovely room with a fantastic view of the coast and enjoyed a very nice meal in the restaurant during our stay.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, lots of helpful tips and advice and the surrounding area and coastal walks are absolutely beautiful. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

The hotel is very beautiful and has been renovated to a very high standard and was very clean and tidy. Before booking we checked to see if this hotel was dog friendly and was told that dogs can stay in the garden rooms adjacent to the hotel. On arrival we were told that dogs are not allowed into the hotel we then had a conversation with the owner who said we could use the conservatory, on doing so the staff seemed very uncomfortable so we asked if we could have meals served in our room which is offered on their website, we were told that this wasn't available. We asked about the use of the 2 pools on site and was told they were closed due to covid, however on inspection of the pools and a conversation we had with someone we were told that the pools had been closed for quite some time and needs a lot of maintenance and new pumps. Had I known all this before I booked then I would have delayed my visit until such times the hotel was running with full amenities and there is a dog sitting area within the hotel. We felt very disappointed.
Nice hotel, poor service
The hotel itself is good and seems to have had a recent refurbishment which was good, but the staff weren't great. They were friendly and on arrival all seemed ok, but over the 4 days we were there the service got worse and worse. Every morning the orders were wrong at breakfast and service in the restaurant took ages - on our last evening we didn't eat dinner until 10pm even though we'd booked the table for 8pm. It seemed like they couldn't cope with the 'eat out to help out' scheme and I understand there were new processes to deal with, but it got ridiculous at the end.
Wonderful Roast Dinner
We just had a wonderful 3 course Sunday roast at the Penrallt. The hotel is beautiful, the staff were friendly and there is plenty of space for social distancing, we felt very safe. The highlight was the stunning beef roast that we all devoured. We will return. Big thanks ?
Lacking Service
This review relates solely to the restaurant at the Penrallt. We ate Sunday lunch there last week. Whilst the food was very good, the service left much to be desired - indifferent and dismissive. We waited for some time at the reception to be shown to our booked table, with staff coming and going and completely ignoring us. Service during the meal was slow, but we accept that it is not London standards. Then we waited a long time to pay the bill whilst the barman completely ignored us. A great shame, as the hotel looks very nice.

We have just spent a very enjoyable 4 nights at Penrallt Hotel. We stayed in one of their Garden Rooms which was clean, spacious and very comfortable. In spite of the restrictions and difficulties imposed by Covid-19, the staff were also efficient, friendly and couldn't do enough to make our stay as enjoyable as possible under the current circumstances.
Fantastic
We stayed here as my mother in law was turning 60 and we wanted a night away with nice food and surroundings, and we weren’t disappointed! The hotel has beautiful, spacious, clean rooms. The view from the hotel is incredible! The staff are all so friendly and cannot do enough for you. The food was excellent and we felt relaxed and safe at all times. I would highly recommend the Penrallt Hotel if you’re looking for a relaxed, comfortable stay with exceptional food and customer service.

Arrived expecting a double room with balcony and garden view ( through bookings.com) when we got there we were shown to a room separate to the hotel! The carpet in the room was extremely dirty with what could only be described as dried mud. The hotel looks amazing with exceptional views just a shame we were put in a room separate as it was our 20th wedding anniversary.

Wonderful escape
Wonderful hotel, lovely grounds which allows you to escape the hustle and bustle of life.
Lovely walk to Aberporth beach.
We stayed in garden room way from the hotel, nice big room, good bathroom.
Dinner in hotel was lovely, nice menu choice, breakfast was good also
No complaints, will definitely be going back
Relaxing couple of days away , mr and mrs parry
What a great hotel my wife and I had a nice relaxing couple of days away with good food and reasonably priced , we stayed in one of the garden rooms which was spacious and clean and the staff were friendly and efficient, Jeremy the waiter was especially good as were the rest of staff who’s names Escape me, and Chris the bar man always singing and happy. Will definitely be back keep doing what you’re doing had a great time thank you
Lovely position
We booked 2 nights here with family as had not been away and love this part of the welsh coast
We had stayed here years ago before the renovation - they have done a lovely job the hotel is on the hill overlooking Aberporth - it’s a steep walk down to Aberporth and quite a trek back up (known locally as punishment hill !) however you can take the car and parking is good.
The hotel stay was expensive and even understanding COVID there were a few things not quite right.
Rooms not serviced - as you would expect due to COVID - but then not stocked with enough basics teas milks toilet roll etc - rather than keep asking more room stock would have helped
Bar ran out of ice and lemon
Limited supply of jams sauces at breakfast
No fruit or yogurt at breakfast
These things could have been provided
Our room was comfortable large bathroom nice decor - no real view as windows were high up but nice room
Good breakfast ( but very limited choice) and lovely waitress who was rushed off her feet.
We just had a feeling they were short staffed and the some of the staff needed more training although very friendly.
Had a nice meal there and food was good.
We had a fire alarm at 11.30 pm (not their fault - water pipe burst) but the staff seemed confused about what to do. We did all end up outside and water switched off but came back on in the morning.
It was so great to be staying somewhere other than home- we enjoyed the break and feel sure they will gets things right when things settle back down to more normality but felt it was too expensive for the experience we had.
OK but not what we expected
Aberporth itself is absolutely lovely and well worth staying in. The location of the hotel is great. It has beautiful views over the bay as it is up the hill. Upon booking we were given the option of pre booking wine and fruit which I opted to do as this was a belated (due to Covid) wedding anniversary trip. The email back not only said this was noted and will happen, but kindly said, at no cost. Very nice touch. When we arrived, our room has sloping low ceilings so my husband had to bend down to see in the mirror to shave, and no wine of fruit. One of the window panes was broken and taped up with masking tape. The hotel did it's best and did well on the Covid side of things but over the few days we had a few meals where things were missing off the plate/ While you try to be patient and understanding, and the staff consistently apologise, you get to the point of thinking, this is more than a simple mistake, it's a consistent lack of detail in basic things. Our shower after 2 days (we were there for 4 nights) had no hot water, our door had some sort of metal chain in it which broke so our door literally couldn't close, and eventually we were moved to a different and much better room. But even that (a recently refurbished room) had a leak from the radiator. So, for the price I'd not stay here again but wish the owners all the very best as they are nice and have good ideas for the future.
