Regency Lodge Panyanda Reviews

No sign of the hotel I am very upset indeed about our attempt to stay at this hotel. We went to the location indicated where all we could see was a Panyanda camp site with no mention of a Regency Lodge. The only place we saw the word 'Regency' was attached to quite another hotel in Masvingo, the Regency Flamboyant. We asked there and they had not heard of a Regency Lodge, though they had heard of Panyanda. The gate to Panyanda campsite was closed and beyond was a unpaved road - we could not see where it went. We hooted a couple of times and a woman appeared who tried to be helpful but she had apparently never heard of the word 'Regency'. At least we think so. She was the only person we have met in Zimbabwe who spoke not a word of English. She gestured but for all I knew she was saying that her sister who lived somewhere could speak English and might help. We drove another 10K or so down the road but saw no sign of the Regency. Zimbabwe is in the midst of a petrol shortage. We had half a tank which might get us to Harare the next day if we could find no petrol. (See photos of the Masvingo petrol queue in front of and behind us later that day.) We certainly not going to waste what we had driving around to find the hotel, especially down an unpaved road which might have taken us miles into the bush. We booked into another Masvingo hotel. All this meant that we were unable to go to Great Zimbabwe that afternoon as we had hoped. We would like our money refunded. I look forward to your response.

They are really trying The manager and his staff try very hard to make you welcome ... but it just doesn't come out right. We were invited to choose our chalet. But none of them were really ready for occupancy. If they had got ONE ready, we would have gone for it. We chose one that had water running (after they'd tried for 45 minutes to get the hot water on in our first choice ... even asking if we had a tool kit so they could borrow a spanner). But, it took another 90 minutes to get towels and the key for the final room. We said we'd eat at 7:30. No sign of anyone in the bar or dining room. It al came together at the end, but we had to keep asking for people to come and serve us. Then there was the disturbance at night. A wedding was planned for 2 days later and a marquee was being erected - in front of our chalet. No-one told us that the hammering and talking would go on until 1am. Nor that the workmen would sleep on the porch of our chalet ... noisily moving chairs around all night. Yes, they washed our car - nice gesture. Yes, the manager is a caring, gentle man. But, the place needs better planning.

Repayer une chambre déjà payée ? Très mauvaise, puisque j'ai dû repayer ma chambre, la "réception" étant incapable de retrouver trace de mon paiement. J'ai montré le voucher Expedia en vain!!!! Une véritable escroquerie. Par ailleurs l'hôtel est à douze kilomètres de Masvingo, proche de la nationale, isolée et désert. Les prestations sont nulles: pas d'eau chaude, restaurant et bar fermés, propreté douteuse. Le prix est absolument délirant au regard de l'accueil et des prestations. A EVITER!

Good place to stay It was very clean and comfortable. Enjoyed the quiet and the rural surroundings. We just missed seeing some of the wild from the front of our cottage. Pleasant layout. A short distance off the main road, so could not hear traffic -- only sounds of the bush. The full English breakfast was very good. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I was very impressed by their efficiency with the paperwork, especially as the previous place charged us even though we had paid through expedia. Pa-Nyanda Lodge had our paperwork ready with the notation that we had paid through expedia.
