Dr. VanSickle gave my life back. I had the DBS surgery in 2016 and after post surgery programming I woke up to a whole new perspective on living. Loved ones couldn't believe the changes! I was able to return to former activities like fly fishing that I thought I'd have to give up. Even Dr.VanSickle noticed my improvements right away. I remember giving him a big hug when I saw him at my post surgical checkup. Don't be afraid to get the DBS surgery. Be afraid that you won't get the procedure. Steve Phillips

I went to Dr. VanSickle as a last resort of my progressing Parkinson's Disease, which I was diagnosed with 3 years ago. I'm a school teacher in Wyoming and was not sure what I was going to do with this new Parkinson's diagnosis. Dr. VanSickle was professional, precise and was up front with risks. I do not have a system hooked up yet, but the results have already started noticing that symptoms such as my tremors, have already been reduced along with my stiff muscles. I want to thank Dr. VanSickle and his team in working together as a unit to make my experience endurable. He's a great doctor and I would recommend him to anybody who has neurological conditions where surgery is necessary.

I had my lumbar basically over hauled by Dr Vansickle in March 2011 It's been 13 years now and while I do still suffer chronic pain (not his fault, I have MANY issues) I know that without his skill and precision I would be in much worse shape! I did a year of research before surgery and it all kept going back to Dr Vansickle as the number one neuro surgeon in the state and in the top ten in the US! If I were to do more spinal surgeries I would only choose him!

Dr VanSickle performed deep brain stimulation surgery on me for treating my tremors caused by Parkinson’s. He successfully implanted 2 electrodes and batteries that removed my tremors from dyskinesia and dystonia! He was friendly but professional and thoroughly explained the procedure and its risks. His staff was friendly, professional and supportive. I would have him as my neurosurgeon again without hesitation!

Dr. VanSickle and his staff are amazing and caring! They treat you with respect and don’t pressure you into anything. They take the time to explain everything and ensure you are educated and comfortable with your choice and what happens in surgery. I never once felt rushed or like I was just another number to them. They are absolutely amazing! Not only do they know how to treat people but they also know how to educate you before your surgery and help you with nutrition so you are set up for success! So much so that when my husband had surgery a week after mine he followed the same regimen and it helped him in his recovery too! You know how most doctors say call us if you need us and then you’re lucky to get them to answer or call back right away? Not this team! They were there every time I needed them and called to check on me regularly! Amazing these days! I had realistic expectations on surgery and care and I’m still healing but their support and care for me are clear and have exceeded my expectations at every turn. I am thankful for them and will only see them if I ever need anything else done! They have gotten me out of the debilitating pain I was in and given me a chance to live again!

Randy met Dr. Van Sickle at a seminar In Pueblo in 2009. At that time, DBS was very new, but it was enlightening. Randy had termers that affected his mobility in both upper and lower extremities. It was hard for him to hold his pen for writing. He was an accountant, rancher/farmer, so it was debilitating for him not to be able to drive safely or write legible. Today, it is hard to remember how unbalanced he was. In 2010 the DBS was placed. It was transforming. He continued working, rocked and played with grandkids, he was so liberated. For the next 12 years, he was fully engaged in his family, work, and life in general. He retired in 2006, but still worked with cattle. We never missed any family functions, kids and grandkids activities. We traveled to all the rodeos, kids baseball, football, basketball, volleyball games. Randy got to see state championships, saddles won, and his grand-daughter get accepted to D-1 for Volleyball. DBS gave us this. DBS is safe, easy, and life giving. We were so blessed. I suffered from a herniated disc L-4 L-5 for nine months. I was in pain management for more than six months. Nothing helped my condition. I was referred to a neurosurgeon for possible surgery. He refused to perform the surgery stating that he felt that it would only be 50% effective due to my age. He said he was referring me back to pain management. I decided to get a 2nd opinion. Doctor Vansickle was recommended to me. During my appointment Doctor Vansickle and his staff displayed great empathy for my condition. He stated he could repair the damage with surgery. There was no mention of my age being a factor. It's now been two months since my surgery and all my pain is gone. I can't thank Dr Vansickle, His PA Laine Housand, and all the staff enough for helping me return to an active life. Best Medical team I have ever experienced.

I had a lot of spine damage in my neck. C3 to C7 in November 2019 Dr. Vanscikle repaired and rebuilded my C4-C7 and he did a wonderful job, my pain is gone. Fast forward to 2022 and my C3 is damaged once again he saved me.

I was in a very bad car accident 3 weeks ago and have multiple injuries including a bad spine injury. I went to my first appointment with Dr Vansickle yesterday and I was absolutely pleased with his overall demeanor and he explained the surgery in-depth to me and he put my mind at ease about the surgery! I absolutely recommend Dr Vansickle to anyone who is in need of Neurosurgery!

I had deep brain stimulation surgery back in March. Dr. VanSickle was my surgeon. I had the surgery to treat my tremors. My tremors are almost 100% gone! I am very excited and pleased with the outcome! If I had it to do over again I would do it in a second. I am very pleased with Dr. VanSickle. He is very nice and answered all of my questions and concerns.

Dr. Van Sickle was a miracle worker for me. He has a fabulous staff that is friendly and efficient. I had severe hydrocephalus caused by a TBI received in a traffic accident in 1990. I suffered with the effects of this for twenty-five years before I was finally referred to Dr. Van Sickle. He diagnosed my problem and surgically implanted a ventricular shunt to drain off excess spinal fluid. The very day after the surgery I was a new man and have been perfectly healthy for six years after the surgery. I highly recommend him to anyone. Great Doctor.
