Dr Prall screwed up a simple cervical fusion from using “outdated hardware, outdated technique and improper placement”. In addition to causing permanent paralysis on my dominant hand, this surgery nearly cost me my life. 6 days post op I was in the ED and needed emergency neurosurgery to fuse the level below (which was unremarkable prior to surgery with Dr Prall) due to “deterioration” caused by his botched fusion. None of my bones fused probably due to the copious amounts of steroids that he prescribed resulting in severe and intense bone marrow edema (amongst a 4 page horrifying MRI report) and the loose hardware was causing major damage to vertebrae, soft tissue, nerve functions, etc…. 8 months later an awesome CU orthopedist preformed an 8 hour anterior and posterior back to back surgeries to fix all of the damage that he caused. They removed and replaced all hardware and had to remove a vertebrae that his surgery obliterated. Spent a week in the hospital, total cost of additional surgeries $650,000, not including doctors visits, PT, OT, specialist upon specialists, injections, torticollis diagnosis, etc etc etc. HE RUINED MY QUALITY OF LIFE RUN!!!!!!

Due to HIPAA regulations, we cannot discuss patients publicly and encourage patients to contact us directly if they are not satisfied with our care. For all of our patients experiencing weak bones, we strongly encourage them to complete treatment in our Bone Health Clinic prior to spine surgery to help build a stronger spine that can support any necessary hardware. Because spine surgery often can be complicated and take multiple procedures, we also encourage our patients who do not achieve the results they expected to follow up with us so that we can help them determine the appropriate next steps. All of our neurosurgeons complete continuing medical education annually and work with our partner hospitals to ensure utilization of the most up-to-date technology and procedures. In addition, many of our surgeons, including Dr. Prall, serve as leaders in their field, including on national neurosurgical associations.
