This company will not give you your money back even if you never activate the device, they will not stop billing you And won't let you cancel until you have gone over the cancelation date and then they'll tell you you can't get a refund. I would highly advise against doing business with this company
Medical guardian provides the absolute worst customer service AFTER you sign up with their service. They no longer want to talk to you and if they do their customer service representative w is extremely rude and insensitive. It took several calls and long wait times to have “McKinley” ask about my reading ability. No comments on the outcome of my original inquiries. I Would NEVER recommend this particular service to anyone.

So I got this device/ service for my father, it was wonderful and after about a year and a half we returned the device. Very easy! Then we ordered the device/service for my mother-in-law...well let's just say they kept calling her trying to sell her on a protection plan, my mother-in-law was not mentally doing well, I finally got them to stop after at least 2 calls to them. We moved my mother-in-law into a facility and I canceled the service and returned the device, they told me there is now a restocking fee. They say NO HIDDEN FEES, that is not true. I totally understand a restocking fee but when you call and cancel SHAME on them for not mentioning it.
Absolutely terrible customer service! Can't believe a company that is in business to help the elderly could be so rude and uneducated about their own equipment! Total scam! We never even used the 2 devices this company shipped that were explained completely different than they work yet we are stuck paying for 3 months of service and the equipment. Disgusting!
BUYER BEWARE!! I am a physician, and my mother used this service. I cannot speak to the actual emergency assistance that this company provides, but I can say from firsthand experience that Medical Guardian's customer service displays a dangerous combination of unprofessionalism, unhelpfulness, and lack of accountability. They use deceptive business practices, remorselessly preying upon the vulnerable elderly population. They ought to be ashamed of themselves!
As other reviewers have said, we experienced the company first failing to cancel my Mom's services as requested; proceeding to charge us for a year's worth of service; and then refusing to issue a full refund. And, of course, they took no responsibility for any of this.
For families looking to buy a medical alert system, I would strongly encourage them to look elsewhere. Don't get defrauded by these dishonest charlatans.
BEWARE---I was sold their Freedom Guardian Watch in August of 2020, which uses AT&T 3G service to function. I was NOT told at the time of purchase, that AT&T was in the process of PHASING OUT, ALL 3G service nationwide, and that they would not offer 3G anywhere after Jan, of 2022. I lost my 3G service 3 months after I purchased the watch for $179.95. Now they will only offer to refund 50%. I was not aware that my watch was no longer working until December of 2020. This means I have paid and prepaid for 3 months of service I did not receive. Medical Guardian refuses to reimburse me for these 3 months.

Initially we were happy with the service for our mom. After mom passed, I called to ask about canceling the service, I was told I didn’t have to do anything. Five months later they charge our deceased mom’s credit card for a years worth of service.
All equipment has now been returned but we are still waiting on a $500+ refund. The five months since mom passed they won’t refund.
I would recommend finding another company. When your loved one passes away you have enough to deal with. This company makes it very difficult to terminate service and refund any money owed to their customers family.
I highly recommend Medical Guardian. I purchased this for my sister who was dealing with stage 4 cancer and I found out that she had already fallen at her home. Since she lives many states away, I felt helpless until I thought to purchase Medical Guardian for her. It gave me relief of mind and also comfort for my sister as well as my niece (her daughter). I purchased in advance a yearly plan. I did ask ahead of time, what would happen if we cancelled due to my sister passing away. They assured me that they would refund the prorated portion to me. Unfortunately, my sister did pass. Medical Guardian did as promised and refunded my unused balance. I would highly recommend them to others who have a need for this product.
