Can I give ten stars?
I had spoken to two other local fireplace shops and was about to finalize an insert from one of them when I was recommended by family to check out Malm. I am so happy I did! I worked with Pete, but everyone I encountered in there was super helpful and friendly. The first store I went to had me thinking I needed the most expensive unit to get the look and heating I wanted. Pete took the time to ask about my home, (including size, aesthetic preferences, and even considered how frequently power outages occur in my area) and got me set up with a really reasonably priced, beautiful, efficient unit that was the best fit for me. No overselling or pressure at all. The unit is awesome and an even better fit for me than the one that was recommended from the other local store (that was over double the price, even during their annual sale). They also did a 'pre-burn' with the insert before I took it home so there wouldn't be any plasticy smell for the first few fires.
Pete encouraged me on more than one occasion to check in for any question big or small I come cross with the unit down the road and diligently went over care instructions and maintenance, so the unit lasts me a long time. It felt like working with a trusted neighbor or friend, which was invaluable as a single female homeowner taking on a project like this without a ton of knowledge in this department.

I just replaced a 20 year old propane fireplace with a new one. I chose Malm because 2 years before, as the old one was dying, I went there and was given excellent advice on how to prolong its life, without being pressured to buy something new. So this year we finally bit the bullet and replaced the old one. Not only am I happy with it, the entire transaction was just easy. Pete took really good care of me, communicated really well (lots of emails in addition to the face time) and everyone there seems friendly and happy to help.
We used an installer/contractor recommended by Malm (SCB Builders) and THEY were excellent too - they work with Malm all the time. I'm sure they weren't the cheapest but they gave me the confidence that the job would be done right, and fast - and that was in fact the result of working with them.
Plus, Malm sponsors Rockabilly Roadhouse show on KRSH so I hear their ads all the time. Extra credit for that! :)

This is my second time using their services. The first time was 10 years ago, and I was satisfied, but this time I was even more satisfied!
The glass on my stove broke, so I decided to bring it back. After picking it up, I was taken back by how detailed their work was. The new glass and most importantly the new seals were absolutely perfect!
After reinstalling it on the stove, I found out after the first night of use that it far exceeded my expectations. My wood use had dropped by 50%! Like the first time I expected about 30 to 35 % better efficiency, but this time I could barely contain myself.
Again, the new seals proved how efficient my stove should be.
It's going to be a warm and comfortable winter...

Extremely rude employees. Took a fireplace door I had broken accidentally and the employee went ahead and insulted my mom by saying how stupid she was for breaking it. Never in my life has anyone insulted us like this will never come back here.

Remember when you could trust a retailer to consult on product to meet your needs, be patient as you ask questions to get educated, guide you to a solution focused on your budget and needs? And after you buy from them, they continue to educate and guide you over the lifecycle of your ownership? Well if you are looking to buy an insert or pellet stove or similar fireplace product, you can't get better than Malm! I first bought a Quadrafire Santa Fe pellet stove from Pete at Malm 8 years ago. Over that period, the product has been a complete workhorse...it just works and works and works. 3x in 8 years I had something funky going on and Pete was able to diagnose over the phone what was amiss and got me back up and running. I've been so impressed with Malm and the Quadrafire Santa Fe...I just bought a second one. It is so fantastic to bump into people who exemplify customer service and value long term customer relationships. These folks are the real deal that stand behind their products. Just call them or stop by. You won't regret it.

We purchased our first pellet stove (Quadra-Fire Santa Fe model) at Malm and we're absolutely thrilled with it. The service we received was excellent and all of our questions were answered. No pushy sales tactics, just the information we needed so we could make an informed decision. I highly recommend Malm for those who want excellent service and a knowledgeable staff!

These gentlemen are so helpful and honest and honestly it was very refreshing to be in a local store with knowledgeable and friendly men who took time to explain the logistics of stoves sizes insulation codes repair upgrades I mean they know it all. They're long time locals of Sonoma county and they take pride in their work. They're the first people I reference when it comes to this stuff.
Absolutely fantastic support and customer service. Jerrett has been so helpful to troubleshoot some stove issues - couldnt recommend them enough. Friendly customer service is hard to find. So grateful for them.
