More of a Cheese Education/Tasting Event
This is not what you would expect as a traditional cheese and wine tasting event. This is better described as a French Cheese Education and Testing event with a wine/cider pairing as you go through all the different types of cheeses from France.
I went to the shop this morning. The displays were perhaps a little less stocked than usual, but it's very low season, which isn't really surprising when you know the island a little... however, the choice of cheeses was quite sufficient.
The quality is obviously there, as always.
The advice of the assistant, who was very attentive, helped me choose my platter. I can only recommend it!

Arrived this morning to find the two refrigerators that hold the cheese almost bare. Maybe one or two pieces of 8 flavours. Very underwhelming considering the amount of promotion on the island and good reviews. We were going to book a 6 wine and cheese pairing event later in our vacation. On Expedia Canada the cost was $73 Cdn per person. Their own website charges between 91-97 Euros or $150-157 Cdn per person. We didn’t book. So disappointing for the cheese store that represents the French culture.

Thank you for your feedback. September is the very low season on the island, so we reduce the number of cheeses to maintain freshness and quality. We also offer two types of tastings: a self-guided one and a two-hour experience with our cheesemaker, which is only available outside the low season. This explains the difference in pricing.
We would love to welcome you back during a busier season to enjoy the full range of cheeses and our guided experience. We hope to see you again soon!

Most of the cheese was covered by mold, the bad mold which is the result of poor storage conditions. Brie was covered by green mold, even one of their Raclette had green mold.
I purchased Raclette that look good and noticed at home white mold on the wax coating.

Hello Kristina
Thank you for your feedback. We take pride in our professionalism and in maintaining optimal storage conditions for all our cheeses.
We specialize in raw milk cheeses, which are living products. The mold that develops on goat cheeses (not Brie, as mentioned) is completely normal and actually appreciated by cheese connoisseurs for the unique flavors it brings. Similarly, the white mold you noticed on the Raclette’s rind is a natural flora that develops on artisanal cheeses and is a sign of authentic craftsmanship.
If you prefer cheeses that are more sanitized and pasteurized, we recommend purchasing from large supermarkets, where products are made to be more uniform and less expressive.
Should you wish to learn more about the fascinating world of cheese, I would be delighted to invite you to one of our cheese and wine tastings. It’s a wonderful opportunity to discover the richness of French gastronomy and better understand the qualities of artisanal cheeses.

Le Comptoir des Fromages is a dream come true for cheese lovers! They have an awesome selection of cheeses from all over France and beyond — everything from soft and creamy to bold and aged.
We especially loved the tasting menu, which let us sample a variety of flavors paired perfectly with wine. It was a fun and delicious way to discover new favorites.
Knowledgeable staff, cozy atmosphere, and top-quality products. A must-visit in St. Martin!

Great experience learning about and tasting several cheeses from France. The wines were all great as well. This a wonderful thing to do while in St Martin and we have already recommended to some of our friends when they are on the island.

The kind employee sent us home with wine and cheese..crackers.
Ok..first let me share with you the young lady that greeted us was very professional, polite, and willing to come up with a solution. Well…our story begins securing a time (6:00pm - Friday night) We didn’t know this was one of the busiest days of the year on the island. What should have been a 20 minute drive ended up being an hour drive..thankfully we were only 9 minutes late. When we arrived the nice young lady told us that the owner tried to call us and email us that the event was cancelled. Unfortunately my phone and email is part of my daily life…he could have got me mixed up with someone else..he didn’t call or email me. This was a downer as I was dreading the trip back! Hey I was with my best friend (my wife), we were on vacation..the glass was full.
