This book is a treasure trove of advise and wisdom for anyone preparing for a flight test. As a student pilot, this book is helping me to demystify and prepare for these tests. It is also a fun read. I wish all aviation text books were written like this. Jim Davis's writing style is truly engaging.
Thank you for your kind review Peter!

I acquired a copy of Jim's book: PPL: A Practical Book About Flying for my daughter who is busy with her PPL, with aspirations of progressing to CPL and oddly enough moving on to instructing. Felt the book would be handy in her training and likely handy should she go on and train others. I was not disappointed, I have landed up reading a lot of the material myself. I find Jim's approach in presenting the material and ultimately transferring knowledge or building to and explaining concepts is excellent. You can see this book is based on understanding gained from many years of instructing various students and ultimately a passion for teaching. Also enjoy the occasional humour or the simple attitude of calling a spade a spade at times. As for the physical aspects of the book, brilliant quality inside and out.
Thanks for your thoughtful review, Darryl. Thrilled to hear that Jim's book exceeded your expectations and has proven not only useful but enjoyable as well!

Flight Tests is the most simplest pilot book that I have read so far. The use of checklists and repeating them over and over again really gets it cemented in your head. I will be sure to take this book on my journey to becoming a pilot.
Thank you for the positive review, Jane! We're glad to hear that you found Flight Tests to be helpful in your journey to becoming a pilot. Safe travels!

This is such a valuable book to prepare for a flight test or actually flying in general. But not only for flying but for a preparation of any exam. Having been a trainer and assessor in various fields of railways, the principles of this book can be applied in many professions where safety and rules apply. Thank you so much for creating this book and I look forward to implementing those preparations in my daily routine.
Thank you for your kind review Markus!

If you're after a complete and comprehensive, "One Stop Shop" manual, then look no further. Jim's PPL manual is the holy grail for anyone wanting to become a proficient pilot.

I have only begun reading this book, however it reads really nicely and for someone who is relatively new to aviation, the book explains it very nicely in simpler terms than most conventional texts. 5/5

I’ve had Jim’s PPL book for 5 years and it literally lives by my side 24/7, everything from magnetos to mandatory radio communications, condensation and dew point are explained in Jim’s inimitable style. Jim is a genius when it comes to getting his point across and he does so by making this book fun and a joy to read.

Great flying stories with a touch of humour
Easy reading style. The ups and downs of flying in Africa. Would've liked a whole bunch of more stories, which I'm sure the author has plenty.

A good read for anyone, a must for pilots
A wonderful compilation of the early days of general aviation. Pre FAA, or its South African equivalent , when safety and decision making was based on common sense and the love of flying --not something to be memorized from a manual.

True, accurate, exciting, flying adventure.
Written by a pilot, about the early days of flying in Africa. I wish I had been there.I could only buy this in kindle form but I would have liked to own it in book form. Volume one was more interesting in my opinion because it was more of a memoir while vol. two was random stories.

Excellent. Did a bit if this in Africa in the early 60s myself so I really felt Jim's descriptions deeply.
