Rie is a very kind teacher I enjoy our sessions and have improved a lot thanks to her. She makes our lessons fun and is really supportive which has made me more confident in my abilities coming up to my school exams. She caters the sessions to what you need help on the most and is very organised always sending notes with the vocabulary we went over after the lesson and preparing content in advance.

My son has been having Japanese Lessons with Rie for over 3 months now and it's been fantastic. She works with your overall objective of why you are learning the language and adjusts how she teaches to meet that objective. Highly recommend Japanese Tutor NZ.

I found Rie-sensei after searching online for tutors and liked the flexibility option of learning online and in person because I live outside of Auckland. I want to improve my Japanese so that I can speak with my Japanese friends and learning with Rie-sensei is so exciting! I used to live in Japan and every lesson I learn something that makes me think back to my time there and go “oh! That makes sense now!” I have tried self studying but really had trouble grasping grammar points but Rie-sensei explains in a way that makes sense straight away. She has tailored the lessons to fit my learning style and pace which keeps me motivated. Highly recommend for people at any level of learning - you’ll have lots of fun and the learning will feel all the easier for it 😊

Rie is an awesome tutor who is understanding and flexible. I work full-time and study Japanese purely out of interest - it really helps me to keep going when she let's me go at my own pace. I don't feel pressured, but I still want to do well because of her!

Rie is a wonderful Japanese language tutor who has helped me gain more confidence in my reading and speaking. She is very patient, and has put together a personalised curriculum for myself. After a year or so of private study with her I have managed to attain JLPT N3, and have travelled to Japan with a more comfortable degree of understanding the culture and language. Thank you Sensei!

It's been an entire year since I started to learn Japanese with Rie and I always enjoy learning it! Rie is an informative, kind and eager teacher who clearly shows her love for Japanese and personalizes her lessons every week. Rie is a trained teacher that knows how to effectively deliver content to students. Her knowledge about “how to teach” makes a great difference to me as, what initially seems complicated, can actually become simple. I've been studying with Rie for a few months now and in just that short time I have seen a huge improvement in my Japanese. I went from knowing a few phrases & words to Reading & writing with ease. Whilst I was really nervous at first Rie has given me so much confidence in my pronunciation and given me a clear understanding of the language. Rie has been my tutor for over a year now and her teaching has allowed me to greatly and consistently improve my Japanese. I had self-taught/studied a lot in the past and struggled to move forward on my own. Rie has been able to identify the gaps in my learning without having to spend the time going through the things I already knew. Highly Recommend. I decided to learn Japanese after my own self learning and was perplexed about where to start and whether it was even possible not being in a school environment. I've now had the pleasure of learning with Rie for almost 6 months now, and it has regularly been one of the things I look forward to during the week. The lessons are engaging, practical and they contain useful context that only a native speaker would know. I've progressed from knowing basic greetings to being able to comfortably converse in simple and fundamental terms, with Japanese speakers commonly telling me that I have great pronunciation and grammar. I think it's really a testament to Rie-san's tutoring process. I cannot rate Rie-san high enough really, and I highly recommend her to any prospective Japanese language learner or current student. ありがとう

Rie is a fantastic teacher for students of any level. Every week i am looking forward to my japanese lessons with Rie-せんせい. I have progressed so much since i started 9months ago. She adapts the lessons to her students needs and makes it a fun but nonetheless challenging experience. She also shares some information about japanese culture, which is always interesting. Definitely recommend if you are looking to learn or improve your japanese.
