Had heard a lot about this place - but the reality showed very sub-par, lazy, and at times, inedible food. We started off with prosecco - was the kind of sweet cheap kind you would find in an airline lounge - and it was warm. (also...not cheap!) A starter of burrata and parma ham apparently consisted of no cooking whatsoever - a white place with a piece of burrata and a few slices of parma ham was what you got! We asked for bread - a kind of tough and dense sourdough that you'd be unhappy with if you cooked it at home arrived. For mains, things were looking up - one of their house specials, lasagne, was surely to make up for such inauspicious beginnings. Alas, not. What we got was a large square of dense and solid meat sauce, with an overcooked mush of pasta throughout. Bechamel? Couldn't find it. Parmesan? Couldn't taste it. It was perhaps the worst lasagne I've ever encountered. Where was the beautiful unctuous melding of loose and light ragu, sauce, and pasta with just enough bite to keep everything together? Nowhere to be found. We had one more chance - surely the Tiramisu would provide a last gasp of redemption? Nope. We had to send it back. To say it tasted strange, chemical-y, fake is to undersell it. It was a mess of strange tasting mascarpone, almost no sponge and the lightest hand with booze and coffee ever encountered. What a massive disappointment, and simply not good enough.

Even in a city with no shortage of great Italian food, they manage to still stand out as exceptional. The lasagna especially is great and not readily found on the same scale elsewhere. The cocktails are great and the servers/bartenders are always super nice, personable, and attentive. Downside is it’s almost impossible to get a reservation. They do walk ins, but the only way to guarantee you won’t have to wait 1+ hour to get in (or get in at all) is to get there right as they open.

Independent of the hype and difficulty securing a table, I really did enjoy my dinner here. The menu went beyond just classic Italian dishes, and everything was executed at a high level. The pappardelle al limone was a delicious plate, and I throughly enjoyed their special pasta which was a lamb ragu with a wheat maltagliati

I sodi is a phenomenal Italian restaurant for the most part, but the over-saturation of finance bros and rich kids out to dinner with their parents does not create the romantic atmosphere one might hope for at a place like this. Also, very unfortunately, we got the lasagna and it was a big pile of mush - the pasta was completely overdone. Everything on the menu that’s simple and unfussy is incredible - thinking specifically about the caramelized onion tagliatelle. The waitstaff were great. Only leaving a lukewarm review because I know they’ll be fine.

One of the worst experiences of my life. No welcome, no acknowledgment- like being in a terrible French restaurant in the 1960s. But without the saving grace of the aroma of Camel Heavies to cover up the stench of pretentiousness. I was going to give you something on the food but honestly - just don’t bother.

Underwhelming from the start and disappointing to the end. Let me set the scene… - you arrive just before 5 to secure a walk in spot. They don’t let you know how long an anticipated wait is. “It’s a Monday” is what you get to judge. Ok sure… - you come back before 6 and wait to get a table. But you can only have it for only an hour. Ok sure… - order salads. They take forever to come out. Standard fare - then some sticky pasta dishes. Not the most flavorful, but whatever another chunk of time. Very underwhelming it taste and texture. Has it been sitting? And finally the lasagna comes separately for some reason. Intricate but again nothing special. Lacks depth and bechamel - the check comes on the hour while an entire free table is next to you. You’re still finishing your meal rushed… - you look around and every other table you started your meal with is on dessert. Finance bros and the retired (I guess the only patrons that also come here on a Monday) - you’re now outside. You feel ripped off. It’s your pregnant wife’s birthday. She had been looking forward to this and you can see her disappoint and tears start to come. Uber home to Brooklyn. Thanks I sodi

Enjoyable but not my fav Italian in the city (or west village for that matter). Was only able to get a res for weekday lunch. The meh looked extensive but we only ordered the pappardelle al limone and lasagne on the menu. Both very good. Also got potato croquettes which were one of the many specials they had which I always appreciate interesting specials. Really like the vibes of this place and the outdoor/courtyard seating looked very nice if the weathers warm as well.

I had been dying to try I Sodi for some time. It was dreadfully disappointing. We ordered a special appetizer—fried artichokes. It was one of the worst things I have ever had dining out. So salty that it was inedible. The burrata was the tiniest, saddest portion for almost $30. I never complain about portions. But this is burrata. It’s usually more than enough for two people to share. It also didn’t taste local or special to me at all. Pastas were also mid.

前菜点了endive沙拉 - 清爽水灵,今天的special炸蘑菇-香极了。 但是招牌千层面我没有很喜欢,面皮黏软,整体吃起来像是吃了一大口糊糊,几口就撑住了。

Utterly pretentious and unfriendly. The host was rude, the service cold, and the whole place gave off a joyless, holier-than-thou vibe. Apparently, having a good time is frowned upon here. Honestly, we had a warmer welcome at the Olive Garden in Times Square.

I couldn’t have been more disappointed by the energy of the staff. We waited about ten minutes at the entrance before anyone greeted us, and when they did, it came with attitude and very pompous. He refused to seat us without our 3rd guest as well. He would’ve rather that table went unused rather than seat us. He was fake and arrogant, and even ended up arguing with another couple that night who were having the same problem as us. Except they called him out on it. Our server had low energy too, it was a robotic feel. As someone who works in hospitality, I really believe the goal should always be to make guests feel welcome. And let them experience the resto with excitement. The whole experience just felt inauthentic. No music, no real ambiance, and an overall tense atmosphere. The food itself was good but not spectacular, but the service completely overshadowed it. The person at the door set the wrong tone for the evening. I stayed only because I knew leaving would still cost me the Resy fee. People at McDonald’s honestly seem happier to serve customers than the staff that night.

In my opinion this is one of the best Italian food restaurants in NYC. unpretentious with amazing food and service. It’s nearly impossible to get a reservation but if you can get in, it’s heaven.

Unfortunately, our experience here was quite disappointing. The staff showed very little care or kindness throughout the evening, which set an unwelcoming tone from the start. A particular mention goes to the host at the door, whose demeanor made us feel more like an inconvenience than a guest. The food itself was just okay (nothing memorable enough to make up for the lack of hospitality). Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place if you’re looking for a warm or enjoyable dining experience.

Not surprised that the reviews are so low. Nobody ever answers the phone. The drinks are flat and poorly mixed, and the so-called “famous” lasagna tastes like it was reheated from the day before. Nothing about it felt fresh or worth the price. The restaurant has an attitude completely out of proportion to its quality. Between the mediocre food, bad cocktails, and dismissive service, I honestly can’t understand the hype. Definitely not coming back.
