Lovely welcome fab sea views
I searched Google for hotel with sea views and this hotel appeared. Really good reviews so we booked. We weren't disappointed. The views from our spotlessly clean room were fab. Paula and Tony made us feel really welcome. Will definitely book again.

just returned back from a lovely 4 days little break at the Ellenby , Paula and Tony could not do enough , very warm n friendly, nothing was too much trouble.
The bed was very comfortable, top class pillows and quilt.
Hotel was spotless, and nicely furnished. Everything had been thought through for the comfort of their guests.
Very large white towels , brilliant after having a very good shower, home made biscuits, iron n board in room, hairdryer etc.
Binoculars in every room to look over the sea and the castle nearby.
Honesty bar was provided which was well stocked and a warm and welcoming lounge to drink in.
The breakfast was fabulous, bacon and sausage , local produce were yummy.
The cups , tea pot n milk jugs all matching just made the stay a little bit more special.
Paula and Tony have adopted a beautiful stray cat and provide cat treats for him....how lovely as well as a little house.....what lovely people.
Cannot recommend enough..... everything was perfect , shall be returning.

Super hotel with wonderful views across the North Bay and Castle ruins.
Hotel Ellenby was fabulous - warm, clean and well decorated.
A warm welcome with a tray of tea and lots of information about Scarborough with personal recommendations for places to eat in the evenings.
Our room was lovely, very clean and comfortable - great views.
En suite was immaculate with hot shower and huge bath towels.
Heating and towel rail you can adjust to suit your requirements.
Catered for dietary requirements at breakfast and provided soya milk for the room.

Fantastic short break
This was the first time we have stayed in Scarborough and what a fantastic choice we made by staying at the Ellenby hotel.
We had an amazing sea view room, with a super comfy bed and lots of little extras in the room that made our stay really enjoyable.
Tony and Paula are great hosts and really go the extra mile for their guests.
Great breakfasts with plenty of choice, lovely comfy lounge where you can sit and take in the view of the castle or the North Bay.
They operate a honesty bar with a great choice of drinks( Even added a bottle of Rioja to their list just for us, thanks guys,
most appreciated.)
The hotel is in a great location, a couple of minutes from the beach, 15 minutes from the castle, 2 mins from the cricket ground and the nearest bar. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, Tony and Paula have a list of local places to eat and drink that they recommend that is sent with a local map of the area,when you book with them.
We had a fantastic break and wished we could have stayed longer.
We will return.

Warm welcome
Just returned and wanted to share what a super little hotel this is, we were warmly welcomed by both Paula & Tony offering a much needed pot of tea in the lounge. Our room 7 was very comfortable with wonderful sea views, it was clean and well stocked with home comforts, hot drinks a fridge & spacious shower room.
The local information was much appreciated including a map & recommendations of places to visit and where to eat.
Will certainly try to re visit.

Great Find
Just returned from a 2 night stay at the Ellenby. Tony and Paula are fabulous hosts who really display a passion for the ‘job’. They like to get to know a little about their customers and the tea/coffee and a chat on check-in is such a lovely personal touch. The hotel is spotlessly clean and our Premier sea view room had a real wow factor when you walked in.
Breakfast cooked to order is lovely with the ability to mix and match to suit individual tastes.
The customer lounge and honesty bar are a great addition which adds to the overall relaxed atmosphere in the hotel.
I could go on…….
We would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely book again the the future.

Perfect place to stay in Scarborough
Just returned from a lovely stay in this hotel, had a lovely clean room , with what looked like brand new bedding. The hosts, Tony and Paula made us very welcome and gave us some good advice about eating out . Breakfast is traditional English and Tony explained that everything is locally sourced which I admire. Will definitely return here.

We have just returned home from a superb 4 night stay at the Hotel Ellenby. I can highly recommend this lovely grade 2 listed property for a B&B stay in Scarborough. The hosts Tony and Paula are very friendly and we were made welcome immediately we stepped inside, being offered coffee or tea in the lounge. Our room (Room 3) was superb, with a fabulous sea view looking out across the North Bay and the Castle. We were even provided with binoculars to view the coastline. It was very clean, the bedding was pristine and the white towels soft and fluffy, the shower was powerful and controllable and it was good to have a hairdryer too.
We had breakfast every morning, good quality bacon and sausage and nothing was too much trouble for Paula. There were ample leaflets suggesting things to do in the lounge area and we were provided with a very comprehensive guide, including map of places to see and suggestions as to where to eat.
Hosts Tony and Paula are working hard to make a success of their new venture and, in my opinion, are succeeding, creating a lovely ambient atmosphere for a very pleasant stay. We will definitely return, hopefully early in 2022.
We certainly are trying hard to make this a welcoming place for people to stay and it feels amazing to hear this is appreciated. Thank you for such a comprehensive and lovely review and it would be great to welcome you back

The Hotel Ellenby is home from home for us. The sea view rooms are spacious and excellently presented with a well stocked tea tray and homemade biscuits also a mini fridge is provided. Paula and Tony were very welcoming and we wish them every success in their new venture. We will definitely be returning. Scarborough’s north bay is stunning and a must visit for any travellers. We love it ♥️

Excellent hotel and lovely hosts
We recently stayed at Hotel Ellenby to attend a close family funeral. The hotel was excellent , lots of little extras like make-up mirror, mini fridge, fan, USB sockets, homemade shortbread - Everything to make your stay easier and more enjoyable. The rooms were clean snd lovely snd the first floor sea view bedrooms are huge. Tony and Paula could not have looked after us better and made our stay a lot easier given the circumstances of our trip.
Would highly recommend. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Had a lovely couple of days stay at the Ellenby in Scarborough. New hosts Paula and Tony have created a great atmosphere already. We had room 3, excellent room with great view over the bay. We will return which says it all.

We had a lovely break at Ellenby with Paula and Tony as hosts who couldn’t do enough to make our stay comfortable.
The hotel over looks the north bay with off street parking it’s in a perfect place for exploring Scarborough and along the coast. For cricket folks it’s a stones throw from the cricket ground.
Rooms, breakfast and hospitality were great. Small garden to sit out, comfortable lounge , all you need. We will return. *****

A delightful 2 night stay in Scarborough
We had a fabulous room with views all over North Bay. Paula & Tony are very good hosts, particularly in these COVID times. Breakfast was cooked fresh with all tastes catered for. Another major plus is parking on the hotel forecourt.
We would thoroughly recommend Hotel Ellenby to anybody staying in Scarborough.

Post COVID treat!
This is a little gem of a place, just what we needed after the chaos of the past year. This B & Bis situated in the North Bay area on one side overlooking the sea, on the other a pretty garden area with seating. A short walk takes you to the town centre, with shops, pubs, plenty of fish and chip shops and cafes. In the other direction is the beautiful Peasholme Park where time can be whiled away in the oriental themed surroundings.
The hosts are very welcoming, making us refreshments before showing us to our room, the home made shortbread and personalised welcome letter a lovely touch. The rooms in COVID times are a little sparse which is to be expected, but hopefully once everything settles the little touches can be sorted out. We booked very last minute therefore had the last room. In honesty it was a little snug for us but we are large people! There is a hospitality tray refilled every day, kettle etc and bathroom supplies. The weather was beautiful, which made the room a little warm for us, we should have asked for a fan, our own fault.
Breakfast to a good standard, cereals, fruit , yoghurt and juices freely available and hot items cooked to order for an £8 pp supplement. Good value we thought.
This is a fairly new enterprise for Tony and Paula, and we wish them well. B &B accomodation is not usually what we choose but we were very happy with the Hotel Ellenby and will definitely return for another break

Lovely Holiday in Scarborough
The Hotel Ellenby is situated overlooking North Bay, Scarborough. Our room had a wonderful sea view. The room was clean and tidy. Lovely comfortable bed. Selection of teas, coffee and hot chocolate with kettle, cups and spoons. Biscuits replenished daily. On arrival there was a jar with home made shortbread as a treat. The bathroom was spacious and a good size shower, toiletries also were provided. Decent size TV. also a good hairdryer. The breakfast was delicious and you could choose what you wanted from the menu, also juices, cereals etc. from the breakfast bar. The owners are very friendly and helpful but not intrusive. Cafe's and attractions are all near at hand. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Landed on our feet in Scarborough
The Hotel Ellenby is situated on the sea front. The quality and cleanliness of the rooms are excellent. The bedding and towels are very good quality and the mattress was extremely comfortable. I would strongly recommend the breakfast, it s good quality and sets you up for the day. The room was well equipped. The host are friendly and approachable, they genuinely want your stay to be a happy one. We would have no hesitation in booking the Hotel Ellenby next time we stay in Scarborough. We think the tariff was very good value for money.

Elegant Ellenby
After the prolonged event that has impacted the world for over 12 months it was fantastic to make a return to Scarborough and Hotel Ellenby, where we have been previous customers.
Despite changing owners, the hotel has lost none of its charm and is in very safe and reliable hands under Tony and Paula who are a very hospitable and knowledgable couple.
Upon arriving we were given coffee as the new owners gave us a little insight into themselves, their past and their future plans before we gave a little information on ourselves which helped build a rapport immediately.
The standard of the hotel was impeccable and the breakfast was fantastic with locally sourced ingredients helping other community businesses after a tough year.
We are looking forward to returning in August after a trip to York races.
This hotel is very homely, central to the town and has fantastic views of the North Bay and is the ideal venue for people looking for somewhere to stay in Scarborough. See you again in August ?

Fantastic few days in Scarborough
Lovely hotel overlooking the North Bay with fantastic sea views. Paula & Tony are wonderful hosts and the full English breakfast is stellar. Lots of great restaurants nearby with a wide variety of cuisines. Beautiful rooms with everything you need and a relaxing lounge with very comfy sofas. If you're heading to Scarborough you should definitely stay here for a wonderful break

Wow....Tony and Paula were excellent hosts from arrival to departure.
Breakfast fantastic, so much choice. And, so much so you don't need to eat until the evening having had a full english ! Locally sourced produce a big positive too, supporting local businesses. The room was spotless, very comfortable with a fantastic sea view. Even caught a sunrise one morning. Booked to come back with friends. Excellent recommendations for eating out too and places to go locally in the day and evenings.
