Myself and my partner Joshua were struggling to find a rental property in Amsterdam and surroundings from abroad with our own means. We were not being invited to viewings or if we were, told that they could not be taken virtually whilst we were not in the Netherlands despite us meeting requirements. I was recommended Homes for Expats so signed up for an initial chat. We met with Jessica who politely managed our expectations and understood our needs/wants. She clarified so much about the rental market in the Netherlands in general, especially Amsterdam and surrounding areas (which we were open to), plus all the documents we needed and how the process of renting works. Her knowledge was invaluable so we signed up. Jessica immediately began to help us get viewings and navigate everything on our behalf. We attended video call viewings with her whilst we were still in the UK and she was honest about the conditions of the apartments against what we were looking for. We were expecting to not be able to find a place for months so were pleasantly surprised when our second offer got accepted on a beautiful apartment in Haarlem! We couldn't have done this without Jessica's help, responsiveness and knowledge of the whole process - we're extremely grateful for all her help, which has been above and beyond as she's helped us with any questions we have had about rental properties but also life in the Netherlands in general. We can't thank her enough and fully recommend her and this service! It really helped remove the extra stress and mental load of moving country which is already a challenging time with lots of paperwork (at least in our case). On a further note, I found Homes for Expats better value for money against market competitors since helping expats specifically is their focus and they understand the challenge being expats themselves. Truly worth every penny to assist navigating a challenging property market! Thank you again!! I would absolutely recommend them to any person in a similar boat.

It took a while for me to write this review. Initially the experience was fine as I did not know better, but when you measure the service to a local maakelaar it is miles apart. The local maakelaar seems to have much better knowledge and connections in the area. If you know the process you understand the power of getting a good valuation. In our last bid with Homes for Expats they gave me a valuation of 20k below what another maakelaar was providing their client. That puts you on the back foot and end up losing out. After 1 bid with a new Maakelaar we found our dream home compared to 6 months and Numerous bids with Homes for Expats. Also beware of the cancelation terms, as our contracted stated we need to pay €75 for hours worked. I was shocked to receive an invoice of over €2000. I was happy to pay for work done on actual offers, but then I got charged over €200 euro monthly fee for "research" and all I received was Funda links. So you will be paying for their inefficient process. The moment I mentioned this, I got threatened with legal action if I do not pay the full amount within 7 days. I paid as it was not worth the headache. But hopefully this review helps at least 1 person. My experience with local maakelaars have been far better.

We always act with our clients’ best interests at heart. The valuations you received were from NWWI-approved professionals who adhere to strict ethical standards. These valuators provide fair assessments, and their goal is not to inflate property prices. While I understand you may have been hoping for a higher valuation, it’s important to us that properties remain affordable, and we do not believe in artificially driving up prices. Our priority is to ensure our clients are paying fair value for their home, rather than inflated amounts.

Regarding our fees, everything was outlined transparently in the contract, including our terms and conditions. These were fully explained before you signed, and you agreed to them. Like you, we also have families to support, and it’s only fair that our time and expertise are valued. Despite this, we still provided a large discount to your invoice for the times I was unavailable, even though my office continued to assist you with offers and scheduling of viewings which were both though Funda and our network.

The past few months were pretty stressful as we tried to find a rental house in Amersfoort and surrounding areas. It was challenging as the rental market just changed drastically. It was also a new experience for Chanté. But she handled it like a professional. Communication was very easy, helpful and very often. She had a great WhatsApp group chat which worked so fast. It helped with the 9 hour time difference for us. Chanté was able to do a few viewings for us. She documented everything into detail and send us the videos.
