I was given a gift of a 2 night all inclusive stay as a wedding gift years ago... my ex and I loved it so much that we went back again. Then1st time was in the out of Africa suite, the second was....well, idk- either the oak or the cherry suite.... ee had a heart shaped tub...iirc Highly recommended- very friendly staff and I really want to come back!

Always looking for something a little different when we travel. The Hideaway provided a nice discreet romantic experience. We stayed in the Oak room. It was just what we needed, nothing more nothing less. If you’re passing through with that someone I suggested you book it.

Here are three types of people that come and stay at a B&B
1. Realizing it is a small business and people are trying the very best they can to make you happy.
Everything is customized to what you wanna have happen it’s not cookie cutter Big corporate America

2. We need the items that they have are custom to what you want to have with a book or QR codes or emails to tell you how to operate the items in the rooms. Yes, you may have to read a little bit to get all of the information because it’s not a cookie cutter hotel place.

3. Remembering this is the heart and soul of the Owner
And making the very best of your limited
time. And the owner may has put in the 14th 16 hour day in a row because the other staff members have not shown up or called off or whatever is happening with today’s workforce.

The Hideaway is very nice as far as the rooms are concerned. The customer service aspect is not their specialty. Our room The Louis XIV Suite was nice and featured and Jacuzzi Tub & Gas Fireplace. We could not get the Fireplace to work. After numerous texts with management they claimed they had fixed the problem and even when we said we were still having issues it was never resolved. Today I did text with the Hideaway Inn and then called to see if it was me or was there a bigger issue. After speaking with the owner she proceeded to tell me all of her issues that she lost money for having HVAC Technicians out on a weekend, the Front-desk/Restaurant area is shut down because of costs, she wants to sell the place, she is a Widower, staffing costs are so high she is making no money. I feel for her and her problems but that does not mean you give short sided service to your customers. We had no idea the breakfast area was closed. The website says come to the restaurant area for daily breakfast. Breakfast was delivered to our room but we had no choice on what we are eating just be thankful for what arrives I guess. And the fact that the Fireplace never worked properly somehow a picture would be the proof it worked at some point. I’m not looking for a refund and it seems the owner comes on here and trashes everyone who doesn’t’y enjoy their stay at the Hideaway Inn. Please, trash away at my review. I mean you didn’t provide the wonderful, relaxing, fireplace and/or getaway we were promised. We all have problems but this is your business and you would rather push your problems on everyone else than take responsibility for your short comings. We are extremely disappointed with our stay because of the poor customer service. Lesson learned…stay at a nice big resort so when you are promised certain features with your stay…they actually care, have a sense of pride and follow through with their promises.

lol. The gentleman could not turn on fireplace.

We had 2 TWO HVAC repairman out while he was here.

Nothing was wrong
Operator error.

They could not even unlock their door.

My husband attempted to stay here for a low key honeymoon in Sept 2020 due to Covid. For starters none of the Covid restriction were ever disclosed to us ahead of time (i.e. none of the staff wore masks & the only food available on site was breakfast unless you were going to pay $300 for a personalized meal). Our Jacuzzi didn't hold water, the fan or fireplace didn't work. We originally booked a couples massage which was not available but we were not informed of this until it was time for our massage. There was only 1 masseur available. We declined this service & were told we would receive a refund for this. We never did. At this point, after 1 night, we decided to leave. We were in touch with the "innkeeper " who did everything she could to help us. We have yet to receive any return phone calls or emails from the owner after several attempts. We lost over $1,000 which ruined our honeymoon week seeing as we could not afford to go anywhere else without that money back. Will never return & never recommend. UPDATE: Seeing owners response: this is incorrect. We did not damage anything in the room, therefore, they had nothing to charge us for. There was NOT 2 masseur available & we were not told this until after I went to the front office to inquire when no one showed for our massage. We were also told there were no options for food to be delivered for the prices indicated. There were no attempts to fix jacuzzi or fan or fireplace while we were there. Only given a box fan to plug in. Still never received any sort of refund.

Ozone commercial machines are utilized in each suite /room. Sanitize everything in the room. Including carpet. Mattresses. Pillows.
The covid protocol is disclosed on website. Social media and confirmation emails.
3 hours to sanitize one suite.
2 Licensed Massage Therapist were available for Ms Harp. Ms Harp wanted to change the schedule time that was confirmed via email and itinerary..
3 pricing options for food with multiple menus are available by reservations only due to pandemic. Pricing ranges from 30$ to 118 per person based on privacy and number of courses. Plus a full bar is available.

Ms Harp was not charged for the damages to the suite.

This is my second time visiting. The rooms are spacious the environment is relaxing the jet tubs are the best. The reason I'm only giving 3 stars is because the owner is awful, horrendous customer service. Also the prices are already a bit steep and then they hit you with all kinds of additional fees. We paid over $200 in fees for a 2 night stay. We also ordered breakfast and the chocolate fondue. The food was cheap (stale pretzels with the chocolate instead of fresh fruit, Hershey syrup instead of melted chocolate etc. We paid $50 for the fondue and they probably didn't even spend $10 to make it, the quality of food was awful. We paid $35 for 2 slices of French toast (tasted like dollar store bread), watered down coffee, and a few smaller items like yogurt and pasties (all poor quality). I bought a 60 minute massage. The massage started right on time but I was only giving a 45 minute massage for over $150. The good news is, they are selling this place. We will not be going back until they have new ownership. We paid almost $1000 for a 2 night stay during the weekdays in there least expensive jet tub room. We had breakfast and 1 massage which were not worth the price we paid. Can't wait for the new ownership.

Last time she was here, she complained about everything and expected a refund of 70%
So she would not post a review

Prior to arrival
Received 3 emails and 2 texts that indicated if there’s any issues at all to please reach out, she had phone numbers she had emails she had text numbers

if a pretzels were stale. They were still immediately out of the brand new box.

She never notified me

If she didn’t like the chocolate, it does not come directly out of the Hershey’s jug as her claim it is a combination of several different chocolates that are approved by the food manufacturers

And one less thing you didn’t bother to tell you is the price had not gone up on the rooms in five years we have it listed separately, so our guests know what our expensive have climbed for help and labor and food cost

We stayed in the Cherry Suite. Room was nice, I couldn't get the steam shower to come on even though it sounded like it was running and it was in Spanish. We did enjoy relaxing in the copper tub. The check in was contactless and seem less. Per their suggestion we ate at Hudson and Essex and it did not fail. The food was good. Breakfast in the morning was good and cook was very friendly. Overall, we enjoyed our quick getaway for our 22nd Anniversary. Thanks Hideaway Inn!

Well, that’s a first that we have heard that the words were in Spanish in the steam shower

There’s also a book in the room that tells you specifically how to turn the steam shower on that’s written in English


Plus we also gave you phone numbers to staff members to make it easy to find us because it’s such a large property

Took my wife here for a getaway from life. We had a great time. The innkeeper Debbie upgraded us to a bigger room with an indoor jacuzzi at no extra charge because our original room had an outdoor hot tub and the temperature was well below freezing during our stay. We ended up stayong in thr Africa sweet, the bed was very comfortable. I booked multiple add ons including a couples massage, breakfast delivered to our room, "eat chocolate naked" fondue platter and heart pedals on our bed. All the add ons were exactly what we needed! Debbie had very good communication with us before and during our visit. She recommended places for us to eat and she was understanding with our needs. We had a great experience and would book again.

Bottom line up front: call the local sheriff office for a review before booking. They say they recieve numerous complaints about fraudulent charges. Staff is friendly, but management can and will try to swindle you with charges or services not rendered. My girlfriend and I called local sherif office to see what we can do, and the owner/manager has a well known reputation for charging illegaly and not even paying employees. The locals are not a fan. We were advised to submit a dispute with our credit agency, by the police. Don't waste your time or money booking, because you will spend more time and money trying to get funds back for illegal/fraudulent charges (and then the owner will just call you a liar, as they do the below reviewers). I would also advise not listening to whatever response is received from the institution, as the reputation precedes locally (call the sherrif offoce ahead of time to ask for her reputation) and online. It is too bad, because the location is great and the staff was awesome. You'll just have to go through a two week headache after your stay to get your money back for services not rendered.

They wanted it all given to them for free

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!! I would rate this place a zero if I could! My husband booked us the African room for our anniversary. He ordered a bunch of extras to be ready for us when we got there. We pull in, there's no one there. Eventually a lady pulls up in a tractor, can't speak a lick of English, which okay fine but makes it hard to communicate. We end up finding our room. Nothing my husband ordered was there except for the rose pedals on the bed. We start filling the Jacuzzi, by the time we got the cold water to turn on it was still too hot to stay in and the tub was grimy. We gave up on the Jacuzzi, went upstairs to get the pedals off the bed. They're was dirt and hair mixed in the pedals all over the bed. We waited almost 3 hours for this woman to text is back because that's the preferred communication. She never responded until we said we were cancelling our reservation and leaving. Then she claims we blocked her numbers and her emails... Definitely not.

Jessica and her husband were upgraded due to another guest room

the guest who needed the handicap room - was handicapped. They had booked the ADA handicap room. I tried to send her husband five emails and two text messages prior to their arrival. He chose not to read them and not to answer, I made a phone call to him.

Her husband threatened to “kick my ass” via phone call.

What kind of a society we’re living in for a serious handicap person ?

I bet Jessica and her husband both park and handicap parking spaces too

Great rooms. Nice staff. Awesome food. Is what my original review said. But my most recent stay i found the owner screwed over the cook I always had. Sorry but I won't go to a place that mistreat its workers. You'd think a fellow member of the lgbtq community wouldn't be so callus and hateful. And upon going through it appears anytime anyone leaves a bad review the owners response is to try and say the person never stayed there. Or make some other wierd accusation. Looking through it, they went to court over not paying their employees and lost. Yeah, why give your money to a crook?

Please Please Please! Do not stay here. Very rude and ignorant lady runs this establishment! Find somewhere else to stay. We booked the Louis the XIV room and apon arrival the room was given to someone else.. I booked the room in advance. They told me someone with a handicap took my room since it was the only handicap room they have. I only booked the room for the Jacuzzi. They would not refund me my money so I called my bank and they refunded the money. If someone calls with a handicap and there are no rooms available, thats what you tell them. WE HAVE NO ROOMS AVAILABLE... Not take the room I booked and drove over 2 hrs... Debbie is the worst lady to deal with.. Please do not stay here. This lady need humbled alot... Read other reviews as well. There is alot of times they did not do the right thing.. Horrible customer service and Debbie is just plain awful to deal with. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE...

we had contacted Jason Miller several times prior to their arrival indicating upgrading them to a different room due to a handicap guest. We asked Jason to contact us back.

Jason never contacted us back.

The room Jason Miller booked is an ADA handicap room.

The other guest that needed the room could not walk upstairs and was very much handicap

According to the United States government - the ADA regulations as we have to provide a room for someone that is handicapped when we have another room available

I was very sad to see that Jason completely exploded
threatened me verbally because I gave a room to a handicap individual in accordance with ADA regulations.

Jason Miller suggested that the handicap person figure out a way to climb up stairs so he didn’t have date are you looking at? We are already booked. I’m so sorry you’re welcome. Keep us in mind for.

First, Debbie has zero customer service skills. She is not friendly and does not want to deal with anything. We booked the Louie the XIV room for the jacuzzi in the room for our anniversary. When we got there they gave our room to someone else. They put is in another room that did not have a jacuzzi in the room. Upon contacting Debbie she stated they were all booked. When we told her that we did not want that room she stated that she sent us an email stating that our room was changed. We stated we did not get an email and we did not want the room without the jacuzzi in the room. We requested a refund and she stated check the terms and conditions. A few minutes later she texted and said there was a small room available with a jacuzzi in it we could have. We have already left the place and found a hotel that had a jacuzzi in the room and requested a refund. She said she would not refund our money. Next, the place is not as pictured. It does not have beautiful scenery, the outside was not maintained and the walls were in dire need of washing. If your standards are on the low end then this place might be ok with you but there is nothing you can do or say that will make Debbie an ok person to deal with.

I’m so sorry you feel this way, but I have to follow the rules. But we have another guest that is truly handicapped We have only one handicap room that we have to provide for the handicap guest. All the rest of the rooms have stairs. This was truly a handicap guest.

It’s so sad to see somebody does not recognize other peoples handicaps.

Found myself in Upper Sandusky and was starring at a gross trucker motel. Not many options in the area. In a last ditch attempt I searched for nearby hotels and found this amazing property. Arrived and it was a beautiful estate and well kept. Very good restaurants about 3 minutes away and the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. This stay was 100x better than anywhere else I would have found and highly recommend if you are looking for a place to stay in this area.
