Been going there for more than 10 years. They have made some great improvements. Beautiful location.
Spent the last weekend of January here and participated in The Ladies of the North. I will have to say, the new owners were wonderful! They were very accommodating & the cabin was very clean. I would highly recommend staying at this resort.

I've stayed at grubens several times and never had a problem until July 17th of this year. Up until now I have always recommended them. I drive 8.5hrs to discover that the cabin I booked with a $1,000 deposit was already booked. This has now became inconvenient. They said sorry and tried to find a different spot for me but it was double the price and..... They are unwilling to return my deposit. I've called several times and "Dan" says no refunds and claims loss of revenue, no refunds. Since then, I have found out that this has happened to other people this year. I can not recommend this business. This is simple I want a refund for their overbooking error.

We always make a stop at Gruben's when we are on Lake Vermilion. It's a favorite local spot. The staff are always welcoming. You can get gas for your boat and go up into the shop for an ice cream treat. They stopped doing ice cream cones because of covid-19, but they still offer ice cream in quarts/pints in their freezer chest, along with other frozen treats.
So glad they are open again. They carry my favorite ice cream in the ice cream case, Cedar Crest! They have stopped doing cones and switched to doing frozen treats or pints of ice cream. Highly recommend the Blueberry Chocolate coated waffle cone cedar crest flavor if they are carrying it. Great spot to fill up your tank and popular with families.
