I have been terrified of going to the dentist for years because of a bad experience but the dentist here is awesome! I had a lot of cavities and scared about having them filled but thankfully she is friendly and reassuring and the experience was pain free! Highly recommend this place!!

Over the past 2 years I’ve developed very sensitive teeth so I was worried about the dentist being too rough with me. Turns out today’s appointment was a surprisingly wonderful experience. Karina at the front desk was genuinely friendly & very polite. I had a few questions in which she was very patient. Jamie (who was the assistant) was very kind & shared important dental health education that would help me with sensitivity. I would definitely like to request her if possible for the next time I come in. The dr was understanding & was as gentle as she possibly could be. She took her time to explain the process. This visit had to be the best visit I’ve had in a long time.

Amazing place to go, had my wisdom teeth removed and it was such a good process. I had bad experiences else where but GSS answered all of my questions!
Jesus and Jessica caught an issue with insurance and made sure it was sorted before anything was set in stone and helped me so much!
Glad I did my wisdom teeth extraction here and will continue here as my general!

I’m very disappointed with the lack of communication from Golden State Smiles. I initially called about a week and a half ago to get pricing information for both my son and myself. I submitted all of the documents they requested, including the referral required by my insurance, and was told I would receive a call back regarding pricing.
After not hearing from anyone, I called again yesterday. The woman I spoke with assured me that she would make sure someone called me back by the end of the day. Unfortunately, I never received a call. I tried calling again today and now I’m not getting an answer.
At this point, it has been almost two weeks of me trying to simply get pricing after providing everything they asked for. I find the lack of follow-through and communication extremely unprofessional. It’s honestly making me reconsider whether I feel comfortable trusting this office with dental care for either myself or my son.

I had a very disappointing experience with Golden State Smiles in San Leandro and Dr. Dharaben Munjpara.
I had a dental crown done here, but the crown was made too large and the color was noticeably darker than my other teeth. When the crown was initially placed, my mouth was still numb from the anesthesia, so I could not properly feel how large and uncomfortable it was at that moment.
After the numbness wore off, I realized that the crown did not feel right. I contacted the office and went back the next day to explain my concerns about both the size and the color.
Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with how my concerns were handled. I felt that the response was rude and dismissive. I was told that because I had signed a form, if I was unhappy with the crown, I would have to pay again to have the color changed and the crown made smaller.
I do not believe a patient should have to simply accept a crown that they feel is too large and noticeably different in color without their concerns being taken seriously. I trusted this office to provide professional dental work, and I am extremely disappointed with both the result and the way my concerns were handled afterward.

The oral surgeon (the tall Indian man) was friendly my son said BUT limited patience with children wouldn't recommend for kids because they have to realize with children you need a bit more patience also consider kids that are taller or weigh more than average kids their age. Not only that my son mentioned he only felt his cheek numb not the area of the actual tooth that need to be extracted (maybe more training on how to administer the local anesthesia) so that's why he kept stating it hurts when they were trying to pull it. On top of that my son came out the room exactly the same when it came to being conscious and responsive so either they never gave the laughing gas never turned it on or didn't give enough because he wasn't loopy or sedated at all. The receptionist was snappy I kindly asked her if I can or can she ask the oral surgeon only two questions if they can try again have my son have more laughing gas or allow it to sit longer in his system she ignored me and just kept cutting me off referring us to places really far out. Idk why she couldn't even just go get him really quick or if I left she just have him call me when he's not busy. Wouldn't recommend this place seems like all the good reviews all type exactly the same probably paid reviews or AI wouldn't put it pass them. You noticed all the bad reviews sound like actual humans with real life detailed experiences. Two stars only because at least the oral surgeon wasn't rude only the receptionist was and my son mentioned the medical assistants were nice idk maybe they all need more dental training or something.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at this dental office.
My family and I are listed together in their system, and despite the office having both my phone number and my husband's phone number on file, appointment notifications continue to be sent to him instead of me. This has caused confusion before, including missed appointments.
Most recently, I was told the wrong appointment time due to a communication mix-up involving the notification sent to my husband. I arrived at the office at 8:00 a.m. only to find out that my actual appointment was at 1:00 p.m. What made the situation even more frustrating is that staff did not immediately address the discrepancy and only informed me after I had already been waiting.
When I explained that the notification system was causing ongoing problems and asked why messages were not being sent directly to me, I received conflicting explanations. I was also told that if they separated my account from the family profile so I could receive my own notifications, I would be treated as a new patient.
Patients should be able to receive accurate appointment notifications directly, especially when the office has their contact information on file. After multiple issues and the inconvenience of making an unnecessary trip to the office, I decided to cancel my appointment and leave the practice.
