Go Bus used to be reliable a few years ago but lately it has been lacking. Took the bus from NYC to Boston during the thanksgiving week and it was horrible. The whole staff was disorganized. Nobody knew what was going on or which bus we were supposed to board. I used to take this bus frequently but I think this will be the last time.
Bus 1345 11am bus from Manhattan to Virginia the driver was driving reckless the entrie trip . Riding the cars in front of him, swerving lanes, missed his exits. He asked us where is the bus stop and picked up passengers in Tysons that were going to New York. Passengers were nervous and confused.
The price of the Academy bus is good, but at what cost? There are some buses where the bathroom handle doesn’t work and passengers are stuck in the bathroom. That happened to be me on this trip I started panicking and thank God my daughter was with me where she helped get me out. I kept knocking the door from the interior of the restroom panicking in the small space.
My complaint is to have all your bathroom locks working from the inside and outside properly, since there are elderly, children and adults on the bus. We all want to feel safe while going to our destination. Please maintain

Never in my life have I felt so frustrated with a bus service, and I travel the New York to Virginia route almost weekly. Our bus first got rescheduled by one hour - no reason provided. Then it never showed up at all, pushing all the waiting passengers late into the night and scrambling to find alternates. No cancellation updates and ABSOLUTELY ZERO means to contact them for updates. I’m labeling this the “Spirit airlines” of the bus industry!!
The last time I took this bus was 2019, so I wasn't 100% sure what to expect.
The bus and ride were surprisingly pleasant.
The things I noticed/encountered:
-The seats were a little smaller, but fairly comfy.
-There were seat belts available
-Depending on the seat, outlets were in the bottom/front of the 2 seats or side of the window seats.
-There were large, panoramic tinted windows, which made the ride better.
-Large garbage bags were placed throughout the bus, which helped keep the bus cleaner (assuming people used them).
-The bathroom was small, but decent and clean...at least at the start of the ride.
-There were foot rests, but they weren't very useful.
I took the 5:30 pm bus on a Wednesday, so it wasn't as packed as a weekend bus may have been. The driver was friendly, check-in process was seamless...we just gave our names. I didn't have any large luggage, so I didn't have to use that extra compartment on the outside/bottom of the bus, but it was available for self-loading/unloading. There was additional storage available above the seats (similar to an airplane) and below the front seats. Even though there was traffic and heavy rain, we made it to our stop (stop #2 out of 3) in perfect time.
There are multiple signs for Go Bus, luckily the bus driver walked over to us and let us know that the bus is actually stopped 2 signs ahead.
Would I take this bus again? Yea, absolutely.
I have always driven when I traveled from New York to the south. My family and I love to take road trips. My daughter in law and my son told me about this bus I could take to visit them and give myself a break from having to drive solo, so much, with 2 people with disabilities. I have taken a few bus trips with this company with my 85 year old mother and my teen son with special needs. Our first couple of trips were great. The problem I have with this company is the customer service is awful. Trying to get a live person is non existent. We missed the 8:30am bus due to really bad traffic and a driver who drove slow as molasses and took the longest route to the Westside highway. It was a weekday and they often have many empty seats on a weekday. I tried to see if they would extend courtesy to us and allow us to use any unfilled seats on the next bus, without having to pay another fare. There were plenty of empty seats on the night bus. Sadly, no courtesy or compassion or great customer service was extended. I had to pay for 3 seats again even though seats were not filled. I get it's a business and they want to make money but they have to use better discretion with their customers and treat them better.
