Ignacio provided interesting details about Iceland and what we were seeing. We spent sufficient amount of time exploring the glacier and he was patient with newbies.

Glacier Hike, South Coast Waterfalls and Black Sand Beach with Einar. So worth it! It has taken me a little while to write this as it deserves the time to express how amazing this tour is. We were promptly picked up at our designated spot, even a little early as we were the first pickup. Everyone in our group was waiting on time and it just got the day off to a good start. We visited January 8, 2024. The day was set to be rainy, which it was, so we headed directly to Solheimajokull (meaning sun home of the glacier) Glacier. It was about a 1.5 hour drive in which the guide provided some history and information on Iceland. All gear was provided: Helmet, crampoons, harnesses, ice pick (for pictures). We were given a brief tutorial, emphasizing the dangers associated with walking on a Glacier, and the importance to follow the guide. People - follow the guide and listen to direction. There were a few people in our group that were trying to go off the path and it was terrifying. You are following the person in front of you, and if they go in the wrong direction, then you go in the wrong direction. If you happen to step on snow, that could be the end. This tour is great, but know your limits, and at the very least, follow direction! Einar was a fabulous guide. He explained how the glacier has receded, and how the climate and landscapes changes often. Every few days the path that is taken can be different. We were thankful to have a knowledgeable person to guide us safely onto the glacier, around and back. You know how a tree has lines and if you cut it you can count the lines to tell it's age. Some of those lines may be darker or lighter, thicker or thinner, which signifies the type of weather there was in a year. It turns out that Glaciers have this to. The lines, black, white and clear all tell what the weather was like and if there was a volcanic eruption - resulting in an ash layer. Clear means a warm summer. So cool. It also turns out that the caves are created as a result of the cone process. Just google that with Glacier. We only spent about 1.5 hours on the glacier hiking up, pausing for pictures and returning. By the time we returned to the bus, we were soaked through. Well worth it though. Black sand beach. It is very busy here. The slate wall is really cool to look at. The sleeper wave is concerning. You can see pretty far up the beach a line of seaweed, and you think it is just high tide that pushes that up. NO. This sleeper wave comes along about every 2 minutes. It is a large wave - stay back. There were several people along the beach that were obliviously taking pictures that had water up above their knees. As with most things, be aware of your surroundings and experience the glory of nature. Skogafoss (Waterfall) has a 400 stair walk up that you can go up to see the top of the waterfall. We didn't have a lot of time at this waterfall, but were determined to make it to the top - it took 15 minutes and that was pushing it. My legs were burning for days after this tour. It was cool to see the seagulls nesting in the grooves along the waterfall. The view of the mountains behind, was really nice. Sko means forest, which is most likely from a very long time ago when there were trees there. Seljalandsfoss (waterfall) allows you to get close to the waterfall and there is even a walk behind that you can do, when it is open. It was closed when we were there due to ice. This waterfall has some smaller waterfalls along the edges, which add to its allure. By the time we were leaving the last waterfall the sun was nearly set and it was time to return. Quiet trip back to Reykjavik. A strong suggestion for everyone who goes on this tour. Einar was amazing and explained so much, which I have now been able to share. If your tour guide is anything like he is - tip him. It doesn't have to be much, and it can be something that you brought from home. But a little appreciation can go a long way. Einar, I hope you continue to do what you do: Helping to create lasting memories of an unforgettable adventure!

SO MUCH FUN This was my best tour thus far! Partly because I was really looking forward to the glacier hike. Our tour guide, Ignacio, ensured our small group had a fun yet safe glacier hike. We started with the hike, went to lunch after visiting the Black Sand Beach, and then ended with a tour of two waterfalls. I cannot stress how much your tour guide helps enhance your experience. Ignacio was very personable; you can tell he is an expert at hiking glaciers. He was very confident and kept us engaged, all while prioritizing our safety. I loved how he let us decide what experience we wanted during different driving points. He is a walking encyclopedia, so we could choose different topics to learn about, listen to music, or rest. He is a fantastic storyteller and is well-versed in history. THANK YOU SO MUCH IGNACIO!

This was a great tour, with such a variety of beautiful and unusual landscapes. Einar led a fun hike and stopped to see the lava fields, painted mountains, the waterfalls at Sigöldugljufer (the Valley of Tears), and many other sights. Well worth the long drive from Reykjavík! Recommend packing a lunch - there is stop to buy snacks but the choices for a more substantial lunch are limited.

Worth every penny paid! I booked the glacier hike followed by the waterfalls in May and I have to say how seamless and well thought out the day was from the route on the hike, smaller size of the group and itinerary of the whole. I could tell that our guide really enjoyed what he does which made the experience so much more enjoyable because of his efforts to explain the geography along the route/sites to see and his patience. The waterfalls were my favourite part, pictures don’t do it justice. (Though I have plenty of pictures that I will add to this review) Only things I think could be better are more time at the Black Sand beach and a little more consideration for those who might be slower on the hike up to the glacier. However these are very minor things and I understand there is a time constraint on the day. Would 100% recommend if you’re visiting Iceland!

Tom was an amazing guide. From the glacier hike, the black sand beach, and the waterfalls he was very informative and made sure that everyone was safe. Additionally, I had a lot of fun talking with him about so many topics. He's a genuinely cool person and I'm glad a had a chance to meet him.

Glacier Hike and More! What a perfect day! Our tour guide, Einer, shared so much information with us throughout the tour. The timing of each stop was great, giving us time to see what we needed and not sitting around waiting to move on to the next stop. We had a great time hiking the glacier, and the waterfalls were breathtaking. The black sand beach was like nothing we’ve ever seen.
