Challenging and Rewarding
Pros:Every day brings a new challenge, offering endless opportunities for growth. The earning potential is truly remarkable if you stay focused and consistently work toward becoming a better version of yourself than you were the day before. The role constantly introduces new challenges and learning experiences, which I find incredibly rewarding. By establishing a solid routine, staying accountable, and maintaining consistency, you’ll discover that this job is both straightforward and highly engaging. Plus, the benefits are outstanding: a 50% 401(k) match, 100% employer-paid healthcare premiums, and a base salary with genuinely uncapped commission potential. Cons:Learning curve can be daunting. Takes a while to build a pipeline. Pay is mediocre until you get good at what you do (in this particular role). Advice to Management:N/A feel very supported.

When I took over financial management for my mom for the last 3 years of her life, we went through 3 advisors, each progressively more disappointing. When mom passed, the advisor that we had gave us very poor information about the process involved with splitting assets and couldn't answer many of our questions with confidence. We requested a different advisor, who failed to reach out to us for quite some time until I called the supervisor. During the asset split, the advisor was unavailable, rarely returned phone calls. The whole process took over 6 months (and it was an easy POD split without complications). Since that time, I've had questions about management fees that were billed to me and have called 4 times, sent email with no response. Very poor customer service!!
Be prepared to work hard at work, but you won’t take work home with you.
Pros:Awesome benefits. We don’t pay any premiums for healthcare, vision, or dental. 50% match on 401k up to IRS limit. The company is growing rapidly. Average historical growth is about 20% AUM growth per year since mid 1990’s. Cons:We need significant operational and structural changes to handle the rapid growth. Advice to Management:You need to trust your most competent client facing employees. Don’t have across the board rules that are based on the lowest common denominator.

Fantastic Company to Work For
Pros:Great work life balance, I've never had to work over time. Pay has significantly increased each year and my bonuses are over 20% of my base pay. Cons:I've had to wait longer than expected to progress into my next role, however I keep getting pay increases so I am not too worried. Advice to Management:Give associates a chance to move into analyst or professional level roles sooner. Let them study for the 65 while still an associate.
Ok at best
Pros:Good pay. Good opportunity for get rich type money in other roles. Somewhat non Cons:Overworked. Expectations are wild from clients based on sales people’s promises. Management is hit or miss big time depending on what team you are on. Advice to Management:Stop putting stock in to sounding good in fake scenarios. Listen to calls and look at numbers.

Different Standards for Different People under different managers
Pros:Solid pay and good benefits After off clock no work Cons:Intensive days Depending on who your manager is effects your whole career capped pay and career trajectory inconsistent messaging from whom you Front lines of firm and have to be on it for things you can’t control Disfunction Chop house - sell a lot in recruiting about being fisher for life etc but once you’re hired you know that is not the case Managers throw you under the bus and then scold you for not looking both ways Other people are given better chances than others If you have intellectual prowess you will know after a month that they sell you on learning more about the markets and the training program but nothing about it is next level. Have people move across the country promising life long careers just to fire them within 2 months without ever giving them a real chance Advice to Management:get consistent with messaging Be more transparent when recruiting employees and to customers Add diversity in management, the lack of color is alarming
Good potential for those with thick skin.
Pros:Good benefits provided and 401k match is 50% the base pay was low for the kind of work but the commission potential is life changing. Cons:Pretty bad office politics and very clicky. Hard for people to find a place if you aren’t a killer out the gates or don’t drink enough kool aid.
