Always a good day to go to Fat Fish. Even if it’s raining the Great South Bay is a spectacular treat to sit next to. If you’re a draft beer drinker they have a nice selection and the food is reliably good. I have eaten there many times and always enjoyed myself. Parking is a little rough, but there is a metered lot a short walk away
Greeting was very welcoming Leaving 5 young girls chatting( employees) Between Israel each other each other blocking doorway- not 1 said Good night or Thank You Cocktails average ,Had reservation for Anniversary Restaurant 1/2 empty inside and out Plenty of waterfront tables - no thought given to Special occasion .Sat us at the highest traffic indoor table between lavatory line and The door to patio where staff ran by back and forth . Seafood salad Small-excellent , Bread good would be better warm The tattered tired wicker bread baskets need to be thrown out, Shrimp cocktail only 2?! No please next time .Garlic? shrimp were fresh , tasted no garlic it was an orangish sticky tasteless sauce , crunchy cooked perfectly, mussels Very small ,Excellent creamy buttery sauce instead of the usual broth Great for bread dipping , Fish & Chips SO greasy like a deep brown fryer oil needing changing , 6 french fries & green beans are Ridiculous! size servings Key Lime pie perfect! as you can read overall, the food experience was good. Here's why we'll not go back. The place especially The decor is tired. The staff all have beach bar type outfits on appropriate for day the place. Doesn't know if it wants to be a daytime lunch spot on the water or a nice expensive restaurant for dinnerhere are a ways to combine both. They haven't figured it out.Its in desperate need of a Makeover . The bar is weird vibes Looks like the service bar in the back of an old catering hall The menus are nasty and old and smudged . We saw SO many great items on line Not on menu. Each we were told
" used to sell it " We had reservation at 6 and were told they were out of ALL specials on a Sat night?!? Waitress lovely , sweet , always running Good service from all staff
My server was Jorden. I asked for a gin and tonic I waited till past the food I ordered came. NOT HER FAULT. As far as I know. I ordered the starter Mediterranean seafood salad which was supposed to have calimari, pulpo shrimp mussels. And a mix of red peppers and olive oil. What I got delivered to my table. Was a slash of 2 pieces of pulpo mussels so small I wasn’t sure what they were. Calimari a few pieces and some shrimp. No olive oil none a wash of some salty water no bread or crackers. To dip into the oil and enjoy the seafood like they do in Spain . So so disappointing!!!! Then I ordered the battered fish sandwich. I got French fries all over the plate. I picked around the sandwich it was a presentation I would not serve my worst friend. I asked for gin and tonic with house gin. I was served 2 gin and tonic’s with Grey Whale 🐳 gin. At $15 dollars each. The atmosphere sucked $30 for 2 drinks is insane. I will never go back. I go home and I had stomach aches and I skipped eating dinner. My stomach was killing me. So I don’t know if it was the seafood salad or fish sandwich but something was bad . Never again. I left a tip it wasn’t the servers fault. But I won’t be back. So take what I say and think about this place. Good luck if you go.
