Before making my first appointment with Tygervalley Eye and laser Clinic, I carefully reviewed the online feedback, which was overwhelming positive and reassuring. My initial procedure was successful, and I was satisfied with both the outcome and the service at that time. Unfortunately, my experience following the same procedure on my right eye has been very different. After the surgery, my vision deteriorated compared to my pre-operative state. My near vision is now significantly worse, and I am unable to read without glasses, which was not the case before the operation. I returned to the practice on three occasions. During these visits, Dr B advised that she would discuss my case with Dr K, who performed the procedure, and that I would be contacted with feedback. Subsequently, I received and email indicating that I would be dent a quotation for an Add-on lens. I followed up regarding this quotation after a period of time and was informed that it could take some time. After a further two weeks, I followed up again, and then once more approximately a month later. At that point, I was advised by the Ophthalmic Assistant that my case was considered "complicated" and that the team wanted to be 100% certain regarding the Add-on lens. It has now been further 3 weeks, and I am still awaiting clarity or a definitive plan. To date, I have spent R77 000- at what is presented as a state-of-art practice. While I understand that complications can occur and that careful decision-making is important, the lack of timely communication and follow-up after my procedure has been disappointing. Regrettably, the post procedure service I have experienced does not align with the standard of care I expected base on the Clinic's reputation and reviews.

Wow wow a beautiful clinic inside and outside. The staff,doctors and everyone so welcoming and the most friendliest people I personally have ever met. Would I recommend the clinic to even my worst enemy I would BEST EYE CLINIC ever thank you for giving my husband the hope of being able to see and drive again. You all are the best don't ever change.

Visit the clinic and must say from walking in to the end where u need to get surgery was the most highly best service ever Dr Kruger and Dr Rautenbach should be so proud having such a great team at the clinic.Keep up the good work and may God bless the practice.

Dr Johann Kruger and his team have achieved the highest professional standards worldwide. I was terrified to have surgery on my eyes, there were so many what if's. The decision took me five years. Dr Kruger patiently explained the procedure, options, possible complications and results over the years. The RayOne Galaxy lens was decided upon. I was taken care of by professional, competent and most importantly, kind, staff who treated me as if I was a VIP. (I later saw that they treat all patients that way :-)) The surgery itsself was pain free, quick and easy. Aftercare was explained in detail. Six hours later, after the patch was taken off, I could see. At my test three days later I had 20/20 vision. Only one regret: why did I wait so long!

✨ Update – One Year Later 2025 ✨ It’s now been a year since my Femto Lasik procedure at Tygervalley Eye & Laser Clinic, and my results are still absolutely incredible. My vision remains crystal clear, better than I could have imagined and I haven’t had a single issue since the surgery. It’s honestly unbelievable to wake up every day with perfect sight after struggling for so many years. The procedure has truly been life changing, and I’m still just as grateful today as I was a year ago to Dr. Kruger, Mr. Juandré Kruger, and the entire team. Their professionalism, care, and expertise have given me a lasting gift that continues to improve my quality of life. I can confidently say that choosing Tygervalley Eye & Laser Clinic was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Thank you again for giving me the gift of clear vision! 2024 I recently had the Femto-Lasik procedure at Tygervalley Eye & Laser Clinic, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the exceptional care and gift I received. A huge thank you to Dr. Kruger, just a few days post-op and my vision is already over 20/20! I also want to express my appreciation to Mr. Juandré Kruger, the CEO, for running such a phenomenal practice. From the moment I walked in, the entire team made me feel welcome and well taken care of. Elize did my initial screening, and Jacky and Karen were amazing in testing my eyes. I was seen by Dr. Leigh-Ann and Dr. Kruger for the final tests, who were both professional and reassuring throughout the process. In the theatre, Sr. Rolene, Sr. Lane, and Sr. Isabella were incredibly helpful, ensuring I was comfortable and well taken care of. After the procedure, Hemani checked in with me post-op to ensure everything was healing well. The reception team, especially Candice, was always friendly and helpful, making every part of my visit pleasant and stress-free. One week post-op, I am thrilled with the results. I can now read the fine print on my toothpaste, something I never could do before. It’s truly a gift to have my sight restored, and I am incredibly thankful for everything the team at Tygervalley Eye & Laser Clinic has done for me. Procedure itself was a success and I'm extremely grateful, but the post procedural care (communication and transparency) was lacking, which lead to additional costs for several months to correct something which could have been avoided.

Having laser eye surgery with Dr. Johann Kruger was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. From the first consultation, he and his team made me feel completely at ease. Dr. Kruger explained everything clearly and answered all my questions with patience and care. The procedure was quick, painless, and incredibly smooth — but what really stood out was the amazing follow-up care. I felt supported every step of the way. Today, I wake up with perfect vision and a sense of freedom I never knew I was missing. I’m so grateful for Dr. Kruger’s skill and compassion. If you’re considering laser eye surgery, I can’t recommend him enough.

I did a lens replacement surgery with dr Wilna Rautenbach in May 2025. Everything went according to plan, the surgery was no big deal and no pain or issues. I specifically chose the Rayner RayOne Galaxy spiral optic lenses to have full near to far vision in both eyes. For the first time since a student I no longer need glasses for reading and my distance vision is better than 20/20. It’s really life transforming to no longer need glasses. The team there was wonderful - thanks guys.

I had both eyes operated on in June. I had an amazing experience. From reception to theatre all greeted me with smiles and warmth. They are extremely busy and being a Healthcare worker myself, I know how stressful this can be. They were patiente and caring towards all.

This clinic does not care about their patients, you're just another "money bag". I made an appointment late 2024 for 23 June 2025. I checked on a monthly basis whether the appointment is still confirmed. Reason for booking so far in advance - I live in Germany (which they knew) and need to book flights and vacation days from work. Explicitly asked them every time please confirm because I will book my flight and vacation days. And so after the 10th time the appointment was confirmed, I booked my vacation days and my flights, only for them to call me A MONTH BEFORE saying sorry the Dr is going for a conference overseas and has to cancel and they had the AUDACITY to ask if I can change my vacation days and flights to July. I never want to be seen by a Dr who only regards me as a number that can make him rich. Literally the only reason I am coming to SA was to do the laser. But they don't care. Edit: I will up my rating to 3 stars since they later phoned back and offered other appointment dates within the time frame that I am in SA, with a different Dr but I already made other arrangements at a different Eye Clinic.

Absolutely pathetic how long you need to wait between tests and actually seeing the doctor. Something has to be done about scheduling. You cannot waste people’s time like this at a private practice. Not enough parking available either. Just makes for an unpleasant experience.

At our facility, every patient undergoes a series of diagnostic tests prior to consultation with the doctor. These evaluations are a critical part of delivering accurate, high-quality medical care. While we do our utmost to manage time efficiently, the nature of medical practice involves unpredictable factors—some cases require more attention than others, which may affect waiting times.

With regard to parking, the bays located directly in front of our premises are reserved for patients. However, public parking in the surrounding area is managed by local government and is beyond our control. We understand the inconvenience and encourage patients to arrive early to secure parking during peak hours. This is a shared frustration, and we continue to engage with stakeholders where possible.

Our team has served the community for over 30 years with a strong commitment to clinical excellence and patient-centred care. While we welcome all feedback, we respectfully feel that a public review based primarily on waiting times and parking availability may not provide an accurate or constructive reflection of the care provided.

I’m a person that is so scared of any medical procedure but Dr Kruger and all the stuff made me feel so at ease and always answered all my queries) that really helped my anxiety. Would highly recommend the clinic for laser wye procedures
