We took the 13 day cultural and spiritual tour, including Everest Base Camp, and we made some small changes concerning the places to visit.Everything went perfectly well, namely concerning Tibet Visa, the train ticket, and all the schedules The agency also supported us concerning our lost luggage.As far as our guide, Nor Bu, and the driver, everything went smoothly, as programmed, and we all 3 loved the way Nor Bu introduced us to Tibet, Tibetan people and lifestyle (. He was always available to our questions. Unforgettable experience in Tibet
We did a customized 4-day tour with Explore Tibet during Golden Week in China and had an unforgettable experience. Sherry not only helped us customize our itinerary for our limited amount of days, but also booked our train tickets from Xining to Lhasa on the Qinghai-Tibet Railway for October 1st (China's National Day holiday) which is extremely difficult due to high demand. Explore Tibet also booked our accommodation at the Tashitakge Hotel which was lovely, clean, with nice staff and in a perfect location in Old Lhasa about 1 minute from Bakhor Street.Our Tibetan guide, Migdol, and Tibetan driver, Norgya, were extremely professional, punctual, knowledgeable and kind. Migdol's tour was full of historical and religious context, including extensive knowledge on all the areas we visited. She also helped us find great local places to eat, drink tea and take photos.We were met at the Lhasa Railway Station upon arrival and dropped off at Lhasa Gonggar Airport for our departure.We saw Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Bakhor Street, Drepung Monastery, Sera Monastery, Gaden Monestary, and Drak Yerpa.I highly recommend touring with Explore Tibet! Excellent trip to Tibet + Dolma was A+!
1. EXPLORE TIBET GUIDE REVIEW: My guide was Dolma and she was very helpful and knowledgeable throughout my stay and tour in Tibet. She assisted me with all of my sightseeing on my tour agenda. This included touring and being educated on the Potala palace, Sera Monastary, Deprung Monastary, and the Jokhang Temple. Furthermore, she took me to two additional temples near the Jokhang Temple, which wasnt on the agenda and was a great bonus addition to my stay.Also, she was very helpful in translating the tibetan language as I communicated with Tibetans. Her lunch and dinner recommendations were excellent, which introduced me to various Tibetan dishes and cultural experiences. She also lended a great hand in negotiating prices for souveniers and other items. Would definitely return and seek her services. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!2. EXPLORE TIBET AGENCY RECOMMENDATION: While everything went smoothly, the Explore Tibet agency can be more transparent regarding the guides that will be assisting the clients throughout the trip. Unfortunately, I only learned of my guide a couple of days before my arrival. This led to a small bit of confusion considering the guide would need to know of arrival details. And knowing who I'd be working with in another country would provide more comfort.Also, since I entered through Nepal, the same occured with their Nepal partner. So documents that needed to be clarified had to be ironed out and required additional clarification.For both above- mentioned scenarios, it would be helpful for Explore Tibet to facilitate or begin those interactions rather than leaving it up to the client to prevent confusion for foreigners and those unfamiliar with Tibetan/Chinese and Nepalese practices.At the same time, upon arrival my travel representative, Rex, did check in with me and was very responsive and professional about this feedback. The tour was very well arranged. Mr Tsela our tour guide had showed us so much around Tibet and sharing his knowledge about the culture and the people.He is very passionate about all his sharing on the place, culture, and history. Well looked after, explored a lot, and certainly got my moneys worth.
This tour covered a fair amount.What was most worth while for me was the monasteries and temples and they were covered in a good level of neutral detail by our guide 'Dolma' who cared and respected a great deal for them. The mountains were incredible, but the travelling there and back was long and hard going for myself and my girlfriend so I recommend you be clear about how much you want to see them... but honestly the views are breathtaking, literally. The hotels we were put up in were great, and the food was great too. We couldn't have asked for a better guide than Dolma as she was so friendly and made every effort to ensure our experience was special.

Great tour guides, responsive management
My wife and I signed up for the 10 day EBC easier acclimatization tour in late August. Communication with their rep Samdup has been quick and efficient, and he managed to arrange soft sleeper trains for us and provided helpful advice about the tour in advance. When I arrived at Lhasa train station, I was whisked off to the security services to get my information taken down. Samdup was very responsive via wechat and I managed to get my tour itinerary and hotel address from him so i can get through the motions with public security.The tour was very professionally conducted. Other tour groups might not start a tour if there’s insufficient people, but explore Tibet will start a tour with at least two people. Our “group tour” of two people effectively became a private tour, which was awesome. Naturally I gave more tips for the service.Dolma was our tour guide and she was great. She knew many of the monks at the various monasteries and provided additional insight into the history of the various monasteries as a local Tibetan.In all, I highly recommend explore Tibet for an authentic Tibetan experience, with enthusiastic and responsive tour operators and managers!

Amazing experience - 7 day private overland tour
Our guide Dhala and driver Ngawang made this tour an incredible experience. From pick up to drop off the Explore Tibet team were professional, knowledgable and a pleasure to be around. Overall a great trip
We did an 11-day private tour. Our guide Dolma and driver Amdo were awesome and we had a really spacious vehicle in good repair. The vehicle was provided by the Chinese government and is equipped with cameras, inside and out. There were not oxygen canisters in the van as promised, but we didn't need them. We did have all the bottled water we wanted.The company presents itself as a Tibetan company and every email started with "Tashi Dalek (Tibetan greeting)," but we discovered after our arrival in Lhasa that the person we had been corresponding with is Chinese and the company offices are in China. So just be aware of that.There were several times where our guide change the itinerary from what was contracted for. She asked us first, we had the chance to either approve or not, and I think all of the changes improved our experience. But there could be better communication between the main office and the guides on the ground about what's really practical. We were able to do this because it was a private tour and there were just the four of us friends. Another group might have had more difficulty accepting these changes. It was much more flexible than we expected, but I rather liked that.For example, one of the monasteries was being painted on the day we were to go, so Dolma took us to a nunnery instead. This was great because we could actually talk to the nuns (through Dolma as interpreter) and take photos and see them working at daily tasks, whereas the monasteries generally don't allow photos and you don't interact as much with the monks. Another day we were scheduled to make a long drive to Namtso Lake and come back to Lhasa. Dolma explained that this would mean about 10 hours in the car and that we would see another beautiful sacred lake later in the trip, and she proposed going to Gangden monastery instead, which wasn't on our contracted itinerary. This proved great because we had time to do a kora there and it was spectacular. There were other examples like this. We had a beautiful view of Mt. Everest (I prefer the Tibetan name, Qomolangma, meaning "Beautiful Lady"). Feel free to contact me for more information.

Very disappointing Company to deal with.
The Tour of Tibet was wonderful, however spoilt by A very disappointing company. Their attitude changed once the deposit was paid. Can provide copies of correspondences.Had booked and paid for a 10 day "Easier Acclimatizing Tibet EBC small group. They did not fill the tour so converted Me to an 8 day tour. Advised Me of the changes once I had arrived in Lhasa and No offer of compensation or chance to convert to "private tour". They knew before I left Australia that this was the case.As far as I am aware there was no oxygen in the vehicle and I needed to rely on My own supplies.Though Breakfast was to be provided, I had to pay at Rongbuk, okay being a bit petty here but just to emphasise My disappointment of a long awaited trip that I will never have the opportunity to repeat. There are too many more reasons list here, Funny the last contact with the trip advisor was a week before the tour started, and no contact from the company after being advised of changes to the tour.

A fantastic time in Tibet, what more to say! Amazing food, fascinating history, rich culture, and wonderfully hospitality from local people. It’s great to explore Lhasa, as well as travel out into the country side with a culmination of seeing Mount Everest. I would recommend this trip to anyone who wants an authentic Tibetan adventure! Our Guide Namgyal Dolma provided such an phonomenal experience. She teaches very clearly and provides great cultural interpretations! Could have been a better experience!
Part of our itinerary was to visit an incense making factory but when we go there, we were told it was closed for the season. When the feedback was provided to the agency, we were told by our travel advisor, Rex, that the modal verb, “‘may” (fine print) was used in the scripting for this particular leg of the programme. Seriously?! This can go on but l think anyone reading this will get the drift. We feel that this could have been better handled and telling us that because “‘May” was used there (May as well punctuate the entire itinerary with “May” to absolve the agency of any service recovery or responsibility - pun so intended!!!), the agency has nothing to do with what was a complete waste of our time that could be otherwise better spent. The saving grace, we have a wonderful and nice guide MigDol who’s ever so accommodating and helpful, and who did everything within her capacity to make our trip a better one. She’s always punctual and pretty much easygoing throughout the entire trip. We are blessed to have her and a good driver as well.

Best Trip Of Your Life
Believe me when I say this will be the best trip of your life. I went to Tibet with zero expectations and was left with my mind blown. I learned so much thanks to our incredible tour guide, Dhala. He shared so much about Tibet with us and the trip was very authentic. The food, absolutely fantastic. I don’t know how our driver got us to Mount Everest with all the roads, but Tenzin made it possible. Our group was very lucky to be able to see the peak of the mountain and under great weather conditions. We were well taken care of & I would probably do this trip again, except next time I’d make it a hiking trip, my favorite part was meeting a Tibetan family and seeing how their daily lives run. I came back from this trip like an entirely new human being. Stop thinking about going to Tibet, just go.

Nous avons réservé un court séjour à Lhassa de 4 jours avec cette agence. La communication a été bonne et rapide. Notre guide Tenzin et notre chauffeur ont été très agréables et professionnels.Cependant, nous ne conseillerions pas cette agence à cause des prix pratiqués et des erreurs commises pendant la réservation : en effet, j'ai remarqué (un peu tard) que les dates du contrat ne correspondaient pas aux informations que j'avais données au début (il manquait un jour) et l'agence nous a facturé près de 200$ US supplémentaires pour la journée en plus avec guide privé soi disant obligatoire. En réalité, nous n'avons eu aucun problème pour nous déplacer seuls dans la ville le dernier jour, sachant qu'un déplacement en taxi en ville coûte moins de 2$.Une autre agence que j'avais contactée ne voyait aucun problème à intégrer des "journées libres sans guide" dans l'itinéraire sans coût supplémentaire.Cette attitude de l'agence nous a beaucoup déçu, d'autant plus que nous n'avions pas le choix si nous voulions obtenir le permis à temps.Conclusion : 1000$ US à deux pour 3 visites (2 temples, le Potala et le Jokhang) et un transfert à l'aéroport (repas, boissons et hôtel non compris !), ça vaut la peine de chercher moins cher vu la rapidité et standardisation inévitables des visites proposées. Pour comparaison, dans l'hôtel le plus cher de la ville où nous avons dormi et mangé 4 jours, nous avons dépensé seulement 700$ à deux pour des prestations de très grande qualité...

Lhasa to Nepal, via Everset base camp
Gelek the guide and Amdo the driver were excellent. We were met at the train station and taken to our hotel in Lhasa, (the hotel was run by more lovely people) Gelek made sure that we had a great time and our tour was done at a great pace, not too fast, not to slow. We visited all the Temples in Tibet and had great food and accomodation. Gelek sorted out the tickets for all the tourist sites and got us through all the checkpoints as quick as possible. Gelek sorted out a problem at one hotel (noisy guests keeping me awake). Gelek also carried our heavy bags when the altitude was high. He really did go the extra mile to help us. He is a knowledgeable man. We were a party of three adults and two children and we had a great time. I would recommend you use Explore Tibet.

The journey of a lifetime
Tibet is amazing and the staff of explore tibet will make it even better :DWe did the 15 day tour and where very happy with the full organisation, Tsela our guide spoke perfect english and was very patient with our group. He always made shure everybody was cared for.If you want to book this tour I suggest you re-read your dayplanning since it is A LOT of driving, it was the only downside for most people in the group. If you read the day-planning again you will see it is in there but again, it is many, many days in a little bus!Our driver did the best he could with the chinese vehicle but tibetan roads are still tibetan roads :DI absolutly recommand booking with explore tibet!
