The eye doctors here are great, and the service is fast. However, they upgraded my five-year-old's lenses with anti-reflective coating without my permission. They didn't mention the extra $30 charge, which insurance doesn't cover, until I saw the bill. I was in a rush after spending two hours there with my kids, but they should have told me about it. If you don't want anti-reflective coating on your children's glasses, make sure to tell them, or they will charge you without asking. I don't think a five-year-old needs it.
This establishment is extremely money hungry and will take every penny possible from you. I had issues with my contacts and when I went to return them, the associate Coco said that since I had a follow up with the eye doctor, I could only return them for store credit. I’ve called them on 2 separate occasions to try to order more contacts with my store credit, and no one responded to my voicemails. I called today and finally spoke to someone, to learn that my patient profile does not contain store credit. I’ve lost $100 because of this greedy company. Where did my money go then? I returned my unused contacts for store credit and now my credit disappeared?? Extremely shady business. Please do not go to this location because Coco will do everything in her power to get her commission out of you. I’ve gone to Dr. Tavel my whole life and I’m very disappointed to see how they’ve stooped so low and hire such selfish people, especially Coco.
I would not recommend going to Dr. Tavel in general. This location has horrible employees as well. They are very greedy and they seem to only care about commission. They scammed my mom into buying glasses and upgrading lenses to spend out of pocket expenses when she didn’t need to and when my sister was under 18, medicaid COVERS polycarbonate lenses. However, they said we have to pay out of pocket for it, which is a lie. Go elsewhere. Anyone else will use your insurance to YOUR benefit, not theirs like Dr. Tavel employees do. I even asked them in person about how medicaid covers polycarbonate lenses and how I would like a refund for them forcing me to pay out of pocket when I didn’t need to. They said they’d look into it and call me back. They never did. I’ve gone to other locations and for Medicaid, replacements glasses are available at no cost, yet Dr. Tavel forces you to pay out of pocket for them. It’s for the money for them. Don’t go here or any other branch. I went here for years and thought that they were good until I started to notice their little tendencies and how they tend to screw patients over. I’ve moved on to a better company that helps me spend the least amount of money, not have me pay out of pocket every chance they get. Staff seems to be made up of mean girls. Talk to patients as if they’re dumb and the problem. They are unorganized, and steal people’s money.
Customer Service is terrible. Not greeted or spoken to until a line of people showed up. Came in for an adjustment and to pick up the cleaner and cloth owed to us. But, too bad for us, again -- no more free cleaning supplies. Not only was it disappointing not having it on hand when we got the glasses but being told I would have to pay at this point? Ridiculous.
