Bad customer service and after service We rented a Catamaran from Dream Yacht for a bareboat charter. I have used them in the past with friends, and didn't have issues, however, seems that things are changing. We sailed the USVI which was beautiful, so we still enjoyed ourselves, but that we no thanks to Dream Yacht. Issues: - The inverter has issues which the base crew was aware of, but assured us it would be fine. It wasn't, we had to run the generator all the time while anchored to have power. While under sail, we had to run the engines, so never complete silence. - The lazy jacks were frayed and broke the first time we hoisted the mainsail. - I understand things happen but when you are given an "emergency" contact ( which happened to be the base manager) and they never respond when you have issues, bad customer service! Thank God there was no true emergency. - I requested to meet with the base manager at the end of our trip, but he didn't bother to show up. Seems he doesn't actually do any work. - When I contacted Dream Yacht after the charter, their "reimbursement/resolution" to the issue was that they will give me 5% off on my next charter with them. Laughable! DO NOT use them, especially in USVI!

Broken Promises and Poor Maintenance in the BVI's "I recently chartered with DYC in the BVI and was deeply disappointed by the gap between their promises and the reality on the water. The 'Early Start' Bait-and-Switch: Prior to my charter, I contacted the office directly. The agent assured me that for a $600 'Early Start' fee, we would be off the dock by 2:00–2:30 PM. However, upon arrival at 11:00 AM, the base manager told us we couldn't even board until 2:00 PM, making a departure impossible before 4:00 PM with the briefings and all. Per the company’s own navigation rules, we must be moored by 5:30 PM. Expecting a charterer to cross the channel and secure a spot during high season with only 90 minutes of daylight is both stressful and a safety issue. I essentially paid a $600 premium for a service they didn't provide. Mechanical Failure: The boat’s house batteries were faulty. Despite being at 100% at sunset, alarms would trigger by 3:00 AM every night. We had to run the generator throughout the night and most of the day just to maintain power, resulting in high fuel costs and constant noise. Upon our return, the ground crew admitted they were already aware of the battery issues before we left. Poor Service Recovery: When I brought these issues to customer service, they refused to acknowledge the failure. Their only 'solution' was a 5% discount on a future charter. I have no intention of spending more money with a company that rents out boats with known mechanical issues and fails to honor its own scheduling promises. Experienced sailors: Get every promise in writing and check your battery health before leaving the dock. I will be taking my business elsewhere in the future."

Fantastic trip in the Caribbean We have had the best trip, sailing around St Martin, St Barth and Anguilla with Jimmy and Colene. Everything was first class, Jimmy is a great skipper, Colene an awesome cook and they both worked so hard to give us a fantastic holiday. Everyone on board loved the trip and we are so glad we didn't take any notice of some of the poor reviews on this site as our experience was so positive! L’esperienza è stata caratterizzata da problemi gravi e ripetuti, non compatibili con un servizio di charter professionale. Criticità riscontrate: manutenzione carente e dotazioni vela non utilizzabili (fiocco/rollafiocco bloccato e poi guasto; randa con componenti danneggiati); infiltrazioni e perdite d’acqua in più zone, con disagi e danni a effetti personali; oblò/boccaporti non apribili in alcune cabine (sigillati), con ventilazione insufficiente; pompe di sentina con funzionamento non affidabile; indicazioni livello acqua/carburante assenti su una delle barche; dotazioni di sicurezza incomplete o non funzionanti; check-in e assistenza inadeguati (tempi lunghi e supporto limitato); serbatoi acqua vuoti all’arrivo, con servizi essenziali compromessi nelle prime 24 ore; tender in pessime condizioni con infiltrazioni e necessità di svuotamento frequente; pulizia e igiene scarse alla consegna. Dopo il rientro è stato proposto un rimborso minimo sotto forma di voucher, che non riteniamo proporzionato ai disservizi. Per la nostra esperienza: da evitare.

Poor quality DYC yacht in Antigua We had DYC’s Jeanneau SO350 “Antidote” for 10 days at beginning of Feb out of Antigua. I picked her, and paid the premium rate, because she is less than 2 years old so should be in great condition. First fault I spotted was the anchor chain had been misaligned over a guide roller that it should have gone under. “That’s how it is meant to be” was the first response till I insisted they correct it. If I hadn’t spotted that we would have been in a bay that evening unable to drop the anchor!!! Next, the oars in the dingy didn’t fit the rowlocks so, when the outboard failed, it was impossible to row properly. The heads back-flowed constantly (faulty Jockey Valve) so had to be pumped out every hour. Handing back I gave them a list of 14 items that needed repair or were plain unsafe. I’ll let you draw your own conclusions.

Best Charter office I've encountered, and this was our 5th Bareboat Charter. I've done BVIYC, DYC, Navigare, and Poseidon. It all comes down to who is in charge of te offie, not the brand name, and hands down, Hodges Creek office is the Best! Handled all comms and requests professionally and timely!

DYC Antigua - a good experience We chartered a catamaran from DYC in Jolly Harbour in January 2026 for 2 weeks, bareboat and it was great. The boat was fine, the staff helpful and the Leeward Islands is a great cruising ground.

This was my 8th bareboat charter with DYC I skippered a Bali 5.4 same vessel two years in a row. She is structurally a spacious and comfortable vessel with the large garage door and open floor plan for all on board to be able to be together. The fly bridge accommodates all the crew to be part of the sailing and skippers experience. I highly recommend her again! Ken the dock master at Hodge Creek DYC is not only professional but extremely knowledgeable and had his team the was not only attentive but personable to every crew and situation. Corrine their office manager is amazing and a perfect ambassador for the company and a joy to see every year.
