I had my dental implant placed at the Dental Specialist, as recommended by my good friend. Before I found out about Dr. Emami I went to a few “best” dental clinics in Boston area, to do my first implant in my life and I did not like what I’ve heard. They way they were presenting the procedure and especially the total anesthesia issues completely discouraged me to do so, until my friend told me “You need to see Dr. Emami, he is the best”. And she was right ! Dr. Emami at my first visit explained everything very clearly, straight to the point (without “sugarcoating” like the other dentists did). At the next visit Dr. Emami removed my damaged/infected root with a crawn, that was redone a few times over a few years at what they called “best dental clinics”. Dr. Emami performed the extraction and the bone graft at the same time, under complete I.V. anesthesia (upon my request) without any problems, very smoothly. I was very surprised I didn't feel any pain, or swelling afterwards, and I didn’t even take one pain medication or a cold pad, as I did not experience any discomfort. Then, my implant placement visit came, which I was afraid of the most after seeing/hearing stories from other friends who got their implants done at the clinics, that are considered “the best”. Here is how they described those clinics: “yes, they have sophisticated interior design and nice finishing, but that’s about it because the dentist are sucks, and they told you want you want to hear”. For the implantation, I asked Dr. Emami to go with full anesthesia again, and he agreed to do so. This time the procedure was even more shocking, because after I woke up and days after I literally did not feel anything, to the point I was starting thinking to myself it this is normal - since I saw my other friends who got their implants at other clinics and it was horrible, they had bruises, swelling, pain, etc. and I got none of these ! Everything was pleasant and smooth. Dr. Emami is very nice, one of the kind with a good sense of humor, and most importantly highly talented doctor. Full professionalism! The entire team is incredibly friendly and supportive. They were very patient with me (considering my high anxiety). I highly recommend this dental office and I wish I had discovered it sooner... Thank you Dr. Emami and the entire Team and I’m looking forward to my next visit! Happy New Year 2026 Everyone !!! Best, Joanna

Hello Joanna, Thank you for your kind words and review. There's is no better gratitude for any health care worker than the appreciation of a patient. Thanks again.

The dental assistants were nice, who I assume was the top dentist/owner (Dr. Emami) came in and told me my teeth were horrible and that I should have them all removed — no bedside manner. Also to add, said I’d have to go a year without teeth — like really? Presenting, my teeth are fine it is when you look deeper you’ll see broken teeth…only in the back aka molars. He Questioned my age and asked how did I let them get so bad. Clearly I’m at the dentist now to get better and face my fear…but a harsh dentist with no compassion unlocked a new fear. I’ve gone through a lot of trauma, including being punched in my mouth, and I feel like there was no care as to what got me to where I’m at. Pretty scary experience. I had another appointment that I blew off because of this experience and I’m currently looking for someone else in the area who will listen and not judge. Not to mention they tried to bill the service as “emergency” and it was not, it was a preventive visit and consult — luckily I work in billing and told them they needed to rebill my visit correctly. Can’t imagine how much money they get from people who do not know how billing works. Edit to add response to Elaine: I’m a few months late but still think you should be smart enough to know just because you didn’t charge me for something doesn’t mean you did it correctly. I actually had to call and have that claim adjusted because you did in fact try to bill me for a PREVENTATIVE visit. I work in billing, so nice try. I have commercial insurance, not Medicaid, so paying or not paying isn’t and wasn’t the issue. You’re just as horrible as the dentist who employs you.

Hi Tracie, I was so disappointed to see this review this morning and I looked into this. Due to HIPPA, I can only speak in general terms for your protection. You had a problem focused diagnostic test preformed and a diagnosis made and all this was done by Dr. Emami and his assistants at No Charge to you. There was nothing in your chart claiming that your teeth were horrible and that you should have them all removed. I'm sorry we didn't meet your expectations. Typically when a patient gets diagnostic tests or treatment done at no charge, patients are thank full and don't post poor reviews. I wish you better luck at the next dental office.
Elaine, office manager.

I have been a patient of Dr. Robert Emami’s at Dental Specialties in Randolph for at least the last 20 years and in that time have referred well over two dozen others to him. As any dentist can tell you, the three kinds of patients that every dentist dreads are those who have difficulty getting numb, those who are hypersensitive and those with violent, hair-trigger gag reflexes — and when I was born, I hit the trifecta in that regard. Yet, I have still been able to receive quality dental care there, despite my challenges! In addition to overseeing my general dental care, Dr. Emami is also trained and certified as both an oral surgeon anesthesiologist, so when a previous dentist’s root canal suddenly transformed into a life-threatening bone infection that literally dissolved all of the roots of two molars, Dr. Emami cleared his schedule and rushed me in for the surgery that saved my life — a surgery and cleaning out that eventually required 12 grams of bone grafts (an area about the size of a man’s thumb) to fill! There’s a reason why Dental Specialties has received rave reviews and articles in such publications as The Boston Globe and The New York Times, and I am living proof of it. They’re not the cheapest dental practice you’ll ever find, but they are among the best (and I say this as the 60+ year-old son of a dentist, who’s experienced the full range of dental work from both good, bad, awful and phenomenal oral health professionals, over the course of my lifetime, and now, will never go anywhere else).

I was referred to Dental Specialties following my relocation to Randolph in 2024. In recent years, Ive had some dental work performed in Virginia to replace several old silver fillings and install 2 crowns due to my poor dental habits when I kid in the 1970s. During my first visit to Dental Specialties for a routine cleaning and x-rays, I was shocked to learn one of the crowns, probably less than 5 years old, had an abscess. Dr. Emami showed me the x-ray and expressed his concern. He prescribed antibiotics and I returned twice over 3-4 weeks to check the progress. At the follow-up visit, Dr. Emami was very direct and told me I needed to have the tooth extracted. I was pretty upset, not with Dr. Emami, but because I grew up in coal country West Virginia and still had all my teeth. :) I asked Dr. Emami if there were other options and he said no, that if I didn’t have the tooth extracted, I would lose not only that tooth, but others as well because the bacterial infection would spread and make the problem worse. Dr. Emami extracted the tooth quickly and did a bone graft to create a stable foundation for an implant. Dr. Emami also requested Dr. Perez assess the amount of gum recession on my bottom front teeth and recommended periodontal surgery. I had never heard of this type of procedure but listened to his recommendation, did some research, and learned Dr. Emami and Dr. Perez knew what they were talking about. Dr. Perez performed the gum surgery and within three weeks, my gums looked like brand new. I was surprised with Dr. Perez’s gentle nature and kindness during the examination and surgery, but don’t let that fool you, he knows what he is doing. Two weeks ago, Dr. Emami installed the implant in place of my missing tooth without issue. I look forward to getting the crown installed and moving on in a few months. I find Dr. Emami to be highly professional and knowledgeable. All three of the recommended procedures were performed expertly and surprisingly, following the first day, no pain. For dental procedures, based on my experience, it is uncommon. The Dental Specialties dentists, dental hygienists and assistants, and support staff are all exceptional, polite, and friendly. They answer questions when asked and present information in a professional manner. I don’t have to name specific individuals because they are exemplary. Ive read some of the negative comments about Dr. Emami’s “bedside manner”, the costs of procedures, whatever. If you want your hand held and be told everything will be ok, see a therapist and find a practice that that isn’t filled with folks from the best dental schools in the country, such as Boston University, Tufts University, University of Pennsylvania, or Virginia Commonwealth University. No offense to any institution I left out. If you want the direct truth about your situation, recommended solutions, and expert dental care, get over your feelings and listen to Dr. Emami. Dental Specialties is the place to go, and I highly recommend it to anyone serious about taking care of their teeth.

AWESOME STAFF - AWESOME DOCTORS - AWESOME EXPERIENCE THIS OFFICE IS AWESOME!!! I was at the point of deciding it was tie for dentures. I'm 78 years old and tired of wondering what tooth will fall out or break next. Yes, I am one of those who feared the dentist all my life. Dental phobia is awful, embarrassing and real. In March 2025, I read their reviews and gave Dr. Emani and his staff a try. I was warmly greeted by Pam (receptionist). When I was seen and examined by Drs. Emani (who does the surgery and Graham, (who was responsible for the dentures), neither shamed me for the condition of my teeth. They did the appropriate exams, explained what choices I had, the cost and how long it would take. Both drs. were very patient and kind. It's now late June, and I have my new smile! Your staff is the best! Thank you all for your kindness, understanding and excellent care.

Last Monday I drove to Randolph from Sturbridge to have a temporary crown glued back in place. I had the pleasure of meeting Kaysea for the first time and was impressed. Casey did a great job of cleaning and fitting the temporary. I really saw Kaysea’s skill when Dr Emami decided to replace the temporary. Kaysea started the process by taking molds. This is usually a painful process for me due to ‘bumps’ on the inside of my lower gums. I alerted Kaysea to this and she was able to make it painless. Kaysea then made and adjusted the new temporary. It was dramatically better than the initial one both in size and fit. Kaysea made a number of adjustments before gluing it in place and then Dr Emami made the final adjustments. While I will, of course, be careful not to dislodge the temporary I’ve never had a temporary that fit this well or was more functional. Add all that to Kaysea’s excellent ‘chair side manner’ and I want to share my appreciation. My wife, Denise, and I have been clients for many years and, as evidenced by our willingness to drive 3 hours round trip, have been very happy with our dental care. Adding talent such as Kaysea to the team makes Dental Specialities even more compelling

This is topnotch dental care. The staff is amazing. The orthodontist is a miracle worker. There isn’t enough nice things to say about this place. The atmosphere is always therapeutic, clean, welcoming and this is where people know your name. They go the extra miles to help you get your needs met. Super military friendly which shows true patriotism. Over fifteen years of compassionate service to my family. I’m grateful to you all. Keeps Randolph smiling beautifully as you naturally do.

I paid much more than I owed and when I called the insurance they told me that I only had to see 200 paid when I paid 800. I'm still waiting for a refund.

Oh my God the way these people have change my life. They work quickly & EFFICIENTLY. Im never there for more than an hour. The staff are friendly beautiful people & Appointments are never far off from eachother, I guess what Im saying they are GREAT in terms of availability. They are very accommodating & work with your needs based on your financial situation. Where as in my past experience most dental offices create a treatment plan that will make them the most money. But unrealistic for the patient. Im so very happy to have been referred here by a friend now I tell all my friends they gave me My smile back & I havent been able to stop smiling since. Thank You all! THANK YOU DR Emami , Heather, & so many others whos names I cant remember at this moment.

My family and I have been going here for the past five years after a terrible experience with my previous dentist. Dr. Emani and his staff are extremely kind, the practice is modern and spotless. Everyone’s always so welcoming. The doctor actually cares about his patients and truly looks for my best interest. Dr Emami also did my wisdom teeth removal recently, although the procedure is invasive (in my case), he did an amazing job and the recovery wasn’t bad at all. While most people have awful experiences at the dentist, I’ve yet to have one here!

I've been going to Dental Specialties for many years. The facility in Randolph is modern and clean, and the staff is great. Especially Dr Graham, who routinely goes above and beyond for his patients. If you're looking for a new dentist, I'd highly recommend a look.

I've been going there for several years, all of the dental hygienist are nice, but Shannon really makes me feel the most comfortable, she's very gentle and she explains everything that she noticed with my teeth and any possible treatment options.

The whole staff is extremely nice, but Shannon was the BEST honestly. I hadn’t been to the dentist in about 5 years and needed some serious cleaning done. She was super personable, made me laugh and made sure I was comfortable the whole time. Highly recommend
