OMG, what an amazing company giving awesome tours of some of the most hallowed ground for the Allied Forces in WWII. My son and I were thoroughly impressed by Monica's breadth of knowledge on all the subjects we touched on. That she was able to include personal stories from some of the veterans she has met made the tours come alive. For most people, visiting the D-Day sites are a once in a life-time, bucket-list activity. As such, don't cut any corners and do it right. Hire Rene for a private full-day tour. I can't even articulate how incredible spending the day with Rene was. His knowledge and connections to veterans is absolutely unmatched. It was the highlight of our trip and we will be returning once our children are old enough to appreciate this historical area.

we spent a day in cherbourg and were looking for a tour of the Normandy area and Monica and D-Day Battle Tours was just what we were looking for! her knowledge of the invasion, the campaign and her passion for the history of WWII was incredible. my wife wanted to see the sites where her grandfather took part in D-Day and she came away with an experience beyond her expectations and our entire family's appreciation of what happened at the invasion is much deeper because of the tour Monica gave us. Learned so much!
Our day with Monica could not have been better (except for weather- though it made the landing days feel a bit more real...). She was passionate, knowledgeable, flexible, and charming to all. We had a fast schedule which she kept us on but I don't feel like we had any gaps. We all learned so much, appreciated so much, and valued her long history and personal experiences all along the way. We were privileged to have Monica as our guide and driver for a five day tour of Normandy, Brittany and the Loire Valley. She is an incredible expert on WW2 and the Normandy invasion in particular and loves sharing her particular experiences and meetings with the survivors. Our trip also included stops at Rouen, Bayeux, several chateaux, Chartres, wine and Calvados tastings, and the American Cemetary. Monica booked great small hotels we wouldn’t have found on our own and set up excellent dinners each night. She was a pleasure to be with.

Three Day Private Tour
Monica was clearly very passionate about the history behind the D-Day landings. She even took us to lesser known places that give a very complete feel of all there is to see in Normandy related to WW2, such as an area with bunkers with an amazing view of Omaha beach. What really made the three day private tour for us was that she was able to provide such personal stories from veterans at the different sites, along with the bigger picture invasion strategies. Having someone who personally knew many of the veterans who fought there really made the tour feel like it was really bringing us as close to the history as possible. The three day private tour let us go to all 5 landing beaches, and sites in those sectors, Pointe du Hoc, along with many of the airborne sites (which were a personal favorite).

Geweldige dag gehad!
Geweldige dag gehad! Vooraf hebben we nog getwijfeld of we een gids zouden inhuren, maar achteraf zijn we heel blij dat we dat hebben gedaan. We hadden één dag om de omgeving te bekijken en door D-Day Battle Tours hebben we hier het maximale uit kunnen halen. We werden door gids Monica 's ochtends opgehaald bij onze B&B. Ze heeft ons het gehele gebied laten zien. We zijn op de stranden geweest, maar ook op veel plaatsen in het binnenland. Op heel veel plaatsen had ze anekdotes en verhalen over wat zich daar heeft afgespeeld. We hadden al wat informatie thuis opgezocht en natuurlijk ook de films en series. Dit werd heel werkelijk, door dat we bij veel plaatsen, buiten de gebruikelijke sites zijn geweest. Vooraf was al aangegeven dat de gids Nederland is. De kinderen spreken redelijk Engels, maar voor hen was het super dat een Nederlands sprekend iemand de tour gaf. Al met al een hele geslaagde dag. Bedankt Monica!

Our family of 4, including two 20-somethings, cited our tour with Rene as the highlight of our European vacation. His knowledge and passion for the area and the history came through in every detail he shared. We loved the personal touches and stories from actual veterans. The American Cemetary was stunning and incredibly emotional. We made it in time for taps and the flag lowering. The towns of Bayeux and Sainte Mere Eglise are charming. Great experience
Had a great full day private tour with our tour guide Monica. Although the weather, cold, rain, and windy, wasn’t the best, Monica was able to adjust due to the elements without losing the impact of June 6, 1944. Instead of spending long amounts of time outdoors she added more indoor stops, such as churches, that played a critical role during the invasion. Monica is a history buff with a wealth of knowledge and information, she has many human interest stories. She lives in Sainte Mere l’Eglise so she knows the local area. Looking for a good tour….. look no further than D-Day Battle Tours.
