I went to Cruce Coffee Company the other day, hoping for a good cappuccino. But now Manuel and his co-founder have changed their strategy. Nevertheless he took me in and explained the current concept. To my surprise I was invited to taste and experience their coffee. From the dark roast of the house blend, with notes of nuts, yoghurt and milk chocolate to the Gheisha edition, where I could taste the subtle hint of jasmine tea. None of the roasts have a bitter aftertaste and I liked them all, even though I usually prefer darker roasts.
But back to the beginning: They started out as a popular place for speciality coffees and a meeting place for coffee lovers, running a café with empanadas, sweet treats and coffee drinks. Now they concentrate on making coffee capsules and roasting orders. Manuel is very knowledgeable about Panamanian coffee and its cultivation. The conversation was interesting and I learnt a lot. In the end I was able to buy my two favourite roasts to take home as souvenirs. Official coffee tastings are also organised there from time to time.
