I had the pleasure of working with Terry De Maeyer, and she went above and beyond to support me. Despite my initial struggles with mental health issues, Terry was incredibly patient, understanding, and empathetic. She not only helped me prepare for my interview but also provided the encouragement I needed to succeed. I truly believe her support was instrumental in helping me land the job I was seeking and I would stick with her for any additional career support if I could! I came to Akilah with a number of challenges that are not typical of someone looking a new job or to advance their career. Without getting into too much detail, I have been under great emotional stress with pressure to find work quickly. I have a number of barriers including a disability and do not have a very typical set of skills. Although likely very challenging, Akilah has done a wonderful job of meeting me where I am at, without judgement, and guiding me forward in the right direction and in helping me to maintain momentum through an extremely difficult and busy time in my life. She has been great at keeping me on task and accountable. Our time together has been mainly oriented towards closing in on what areas of work are right for me, as well as help with the application process. Working on these things has helped to improve my confidence and motivation in the job hunt.
My main objective in coming to Career joy ultimately has been to find a work. Though I haven't found one yet, I have a great start on the journey. I still have much work to do before I am able to get there but working with Akilah has definitely helped me to gain my footing. I can say that I have more hope now than before because I feel stronger and more capable in meeting the challenges I face as I move forward on this journey.

I had an amazing experience with Career Joy earlier this year. I worked with Career Coach Marieke Bosch Larose who made my job transition period into a time of deep self-reflection - inspiring me to ask myself questions that you don't always get to do on a day-to-day basis. My career counselling experience, in particular with Shelly Elslinger has been extremely rewarding, both on a personal and professional level. During our first session, I explained to Shelly that I was in between jobs, and agreed together on specific goals that I wanted to achieve during this transition period. Shelly was a great listener and mentor. She provided me with invaluable guidance and direction, that allowed me to quickly build trust and rapport with C-suite level stakeholders I was interviewing with. I really enjoyed my coaching session. The instructor was really easy to talk to and the discussion was always very relatable. We used real issues in my work as examples and worked out solutions together.. The instructor did not stop at solving the issues. She went on and guided me to look behind the issues and try to think about the root causes and more generally, what strategies I should use to manage the issues. Very insightful!

My experience with CareerJoy, and in particular my career counselling with Jane, has been life changing.
