Disappointing Experience with Transmission Rebuild and Service
I had my transmission rebuilt by Bob’s Transmission shop about a year and a half ago, paying a total of $3200. Initially, everything seemed fine, but I began noticing a hard shift from 1st to 2nd gear shortly after the rebuild. I was told by the shop that this was perfectly normal and not to worry about it. Despite feeling uneasy, I trusted their professional opinion.
Since the rebuild, I’ve only driven my truck for about 1,800 miles. However, during a recent trip out of town, I encountered a serious issue where my vehicle became stuck in second gear and would not shift higher, revving up to 4500 RPMs before I was able to let it cool down and temporarily return to normal function.
After this incident, I decided to take matters into my own hands and remove the oil pan to investigate. To my shock, I found two bolts from the valve body laying inside the pan, a clear indication that something was not right with the rebuild. This discovery only reinforced my concerns about the quality of the work done on my transmission.
When I brought the issue to the shop's attention, they once again assured me the hard shifting was normal. It became clear that I may have paid for a rebuild that was subpar and not properly addressed the issues I had raised.
In hindsight, I feel that my experience was frustrating and costly. Despite spending a significant amount of money on what I thought was a professional service, I am left with a transmission that still isn't functioning as it should. I would strongly recommend potential customers to carefully evaluate their options before trusting this shop with critical vehicle repairs.
I hope this review helps others avoid the same disappointment and unnecessary expense I’ve faced.
What a lifesaver! I was headed south from Oregon when my Transmission went BAD. I asked around and was pointed to Bob's Transmissions. He got me a new Transmission and changed mine out. This took some time and energy on his part to get one for a 2005 Dodge Dakota 4WD. He completed the task in a timely manner and my truck runs, shifts, and gets better mileage than it ever has. I got a thorough test run because I live in Central Oregon and drove it home from Red Bluff, CA. It worked perfectly! Love it!
Had car towed to Bob's for clutch was making loud radical noises. Bob diagnosed car and did the repairs and had my car back to me that afternoon. I was so happy. Bob and his other mechanic did a great job. Was very reasonable for all the work they done.Would recommend. WOW thanks again guys.
On our way home So Cal (655 miles) our van stopped @ the Herbert S Miles rest area & wouldn't move. On Monday we got it to Bob's. He was straight forward/honest with us & was willing to work with the car warranty Co. Bob went above & beyond to get us up & running to get us home. He is friendly & professional We recommend him 100% Thank You so much Bob for helping 2 senior travlers far from home
